Mhags unfortunately I didn't get to Oban as I took DM on her birthday cruise around that time. I will go though, I so want to meet my on line friend in person.
Purple Kitten it's difficult to believe when you've had a blow, but your job is out there waiting for you and it's far better than the one you thought would suit. Don't lose hope :)
Chicken I learned the hard way! From an elderly Cretan lady when I was there that wasp stings are alkaline so they're best neutralised with vinegar or other acid (as in tomato which is also cooling), and bee stings are acidic so neutralised with bicarb or alkali.
Carolyntia congrats on the handbag, if you complete this next project to their satisfaction perhaps you'll get the shoes to go with it ;)
Angel_Jenny I agree, the Peasall Sisters are good!
Patchwork I'll try the pepper - I've put thin strips of satsuma peel just under the soil which someone recommended - well actually she said orange peels but I only have satsumas atm :o - but will try anything and everything. Thank you for the suggestion
Hawthorn thank goodness you got your boiler fixed . Hope you don't have any more problems now

    1. My choysia is coming back into flower, so far this month I've had blossom on the apple tree and one of the patio roses is flowering for the third time, and now this - the weather is totally confusing my garden!
    2. Made room for two more winter baskets, just have to buy the plants now. I did promise myself I wouldn't spend any more at the garden centre this month, but......:o
    3. A strange sort of pleasure, the car is due for its service/MoT this month, and I've managed to put by enough for most eventualities. It's 10 years old now so can't expect it to be completely trouble free but it's good to know I don't have to scrimp and save for it.
    4. This evening's meeting of my fellowship was particularly good, the speaker was the lady who introduced me to the fellowship almost 7 years ago so held a special meaning for me
    5. Asked a question on another forum and got some really helpful replies. Whatever did we do before MSE? :money:

    Night night, sleep tight
    S

eta Westy my DS is visiting this weekend too. Hope you don't get too much laundry to do while he's home, and have an amazing time with him :)

    Morning

    Pleasures for yesterday;
    1. Bought 4 cheap but rubbish newspapers in the morning but it meant I got 2 lots of lego and 2 bacon rolls from Greggs. There was only 2 of us in the office yesterday so we enjoyed our roll. Collegue thought I was being very generous, didn't like to tell him had only cost 30p:rotfl:
    2. Completing a survey so that should be another £3 in vouchers on the way
    3. DD finishing a controlled assessment at school. Thanks to a teacher staying late to assisting with the reading part.
    4. Family night out to the cinema (Orange Wednesday of course). We also decided to have dinner out but as we had enough stamps on a nandos card for a free chicken it wasn't too expensive just needed to order a couple of side dishes.
    5. Hopefully have sorted out an issue with some train tickets I have bought but yet to receive, fingers crossed.

Hugs to all who need them

    2) Went out for a cup of tea with mum and her friend.

    3) Tidied up.

Embarrassing admission. Whilst it was off, I thought oh thank god....at least it's not costing us with the huge gas price rises :rotfl:

All of us humans were ok, we just wrapped up a bit warmer. The dog however kept giving me looks as if to say 'I am unaccustomed to this cold, sort it out slave' :rotfl:
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

Day off owed to me today but put it to use in the house

    1. Stripped bed, vacc'ed it and put new flannelette sheets on, can't wait to snuggle up in those tonight :D

    2. Went to GP's for flu jab and saw a lovely old friend of mine who had not seen for ages so we ended up having a wonderful long chat while we waited for our appointments to be called.

    3. Three loads of washing out on the line, but taking time to dry.

    4. Cleaned house through but will give a deeper clean this weekend

    5. Just baked a Victoria Sandwich cake for when DH comes home and he can have a slice of that with a cup of tea before we take the woofaloes for a their walks!!

  • Good evening all!

Ladyhawk-it sounds as if your interview went very well. I have everything crossed for you x

Carolyntia-re your new job- when would you like me to start working for this company? Got room for a small handbag loving blonde up there?:)

ampersand - I hope you are ok?

    5 for today

    1. half day at work. Meeting with my manager to negotiate a few more hours next week as part of my phased return. This went well.

    2. Got some encouraging feedback following a report that I had written at work. Won't go in to detail but basically the recipient had found my report to reflect their own findings and both of us had recommended the same outcome .Things rarely go that smoothly...:rotfl:

    3. Washing dried on the line- however this is taking longer now:(

    4. Made a chicken korma from scratch in the slow cooker. The recipe did not mention ground almonds on the list of required ingredients , but the cooking instructions did say "add ground almonds" at a certain point but did not state the amount. I found an unopened bag dated 2007. I put about a quarter in and I thought it tasted fine but OH said it tasted a bit musty. If you don't hear from me again you all know why:rotfl:

    5. Gave the hens some leftover rice and my little red hen rounded on me , puffed herself up like a pine cone and "shouted" at me as she thought I wanted her dinner.

Have a good evening all x

    Evening all....

so my pleasure from the past couple of days...

    1) Really good interview for an amazing job. Its going to be leading a very prestigeous and high profile project. I don't know if I am up to it but what's the worst that can happen??

    2) Had a Groupon appointment for a "beauty" treatment which was interesting but weirdly enjoyable.

    3) Met up with my friend R for drinks and dinner. He's lovely and we had such a good evening.

and now for the pleasures from today...

    1) Recieved the job spec for the job. Wow... I'm excited!

    2) Wandered into town with my colleague W. We had a good chat and I manage to not spend any money.

    3) Listened to my ipod on the way to work... which put me in a good mood

    4) Got loads of work done in the office

    5) Funny BBMs with my lovely friend L.

    nighty night

    Evening all.

I'm feeling very down again this evening having had yet another bit of bad news: my GP is going to stop letting me take the contraceptive pills I've been on for years to prevent the cripplingly bad period pains I used to suffer, because my blood pressure is too high. :( I'll cope, of course - I'll have to - but I'm starting to wish that the world would stop kicking me and let me get up. smiley-sad045.gif (Such melodrama! :rotfl:)

    Right, I must find pleasures:

    1) A truly gorgeous day in Portsmouth - the sort of day that reminds me why autumn has always been my favourite season.

    2) Received my voucher for free pizza. I noticed the other day that my local Co-op has BOGOF on the same brand, so I'm wondering if I can combine them to get two free pizzas.

    3) The mog went outside this evening for the first time in over a week. :) He got beaten up by another cat, then had a few days illness, and I think it knocked his confidence a bit, so it was good to see him back out on the garden chair. :) (Which reminds me - I got a bit of a scare at work today when I looked out of the window and saw a cat lying flat out in the car park. When it felt me looking at it, it yawned, got up, and went to look for a more peaceful place to sunbathe. :))

    4) One of my favourite dinners tonight - what I call 'pasta al lago'. (It's a b*st*rdised version of spaghetti carbonara, based on what was served in the canteen of a previous workplace - any Italian would sob with horror, I'm sure, but I love it! ;))

    5) Making a loaf of bread the BM. I've had a BM for several years now but it hasn't ceased to amaze me that you can put flour, water, yeast, and a small amount each of sugar and salt into a small plastic cube and, after three hours and a lot of whirring, out comes a loaf of bread.

    6) A naughty-but-nice glass of cider, from a bottle I bought while it was on special offer and was keeping for a special occasion - I think this counts, don't you? ;)

Ladyhawk - I'm glad the interview went well for you. :)
Back after a very long break!
