Sparrer: did you ever have your trip to Oban?
CCP: have a warmish hug! Keep smiling!
Frith & Ladyhawk: Ouch
Well , never got as far as typing yesterday's pleasures.....got onto MSE & fell asleep!
So Tuesday was a nice day & I had a good day at work. Went into next town with DD1 to pick up our photos & then came home & made a collage of our holiday. DD1 made spicy pumpkin soup & then was zonked! I lasted until 8.30pm & was zonked! DD2 is the only one who is full of beans!
Today!:
Started earlier than usual, still dark when I left (bit dim, but have just realised why it's darker than it was 3 weeks ago.....daylight saving! Clocks went forward when we were on hols!)
Had a very busy day at work ( bit stressy at times.......the shine of my holiday wearing off I think!) however I am grateful to have a job I enjoy and I am growing within my role & taking on more responsibilities.
Chatting with Guerilla Knitters! They were making knitted hand grenades (beautifully created!), sticks of dynamite (with clocks on them!) ,dynamite with a tinsel 'tail' as if they were going off! This was in peaceful protest to something going on in Tasmania! fabulous!
Nice drive home, lots of different plants in bloom since we left. Bottle brush is very red!
Still warm (18o) when I got in , so by time washing was ready to go out it was 5pm, however, stuck it on the line for 1hour & it was almost dry when I brought it in! Ironed & on clothes horse to dry off.
Easy tea of ravioli for everyone else & tuna sandwich for me!
Enjoy your day, M x0 -
Thanks CCP.
It’s been a bit of a wierd day only due to the rather eclectic mix of people using the tube.
1. Using vouchers I’ve been holding onto, to pay for the travel card successfully.
2. A second interview done and dusted, more interviews coming up next week. Updated to add the role I really wanted I did not get, no reason they thought I would be a great team fit, and the job was mine until the final candidate. All this really shows me is I should take the latest interview slot possible in future! I’m miffed but it wasn’t the role I thought I guess. Here’s hoping the other ones liked me enough.
3. Relaxing at home, or should I sat slobbing out on the sofa, I keep going over the interviews and there is nothing I would have changed I did the best I could so hey ho.
4. Going to have to get off my lazy bum and make something to eat, I may do an omelette or something but it’s one of those days where the take away is calling l o u d l y.
5. Off to the library to find a good book.0 -
Good evening all!
Purple Kitten - sorry to hear that you did not get the job that you wantedDon't lose hope - remember though that there is "no such thing as failure only an outcome of a result" as someone much cleverer than I once said...
CCP- Iam sorry that your manager was not at work for you to tell her/ him everything re your concerns. Good luck with the TMA , I always forgot to eat as adrenaline would be racing through me until I had written the final reference!
Ladyhawk- I hope that your interview went well and that your toothache has gone?
Frith- ouch!
sparrer- oooh sparrer the Soothsayer . I remembered the oil of cloves but the tomato on a sting -excellent tip thank you!
5 for today
1. Half day at work
2. Online grocery delivery - the 1,000 points promo will be worth about £40 in vouchers when they are redeemed to 4x their value
3.Creamy salmon pasta for tea as I "apparently " need fattening up:D According to several males at work.
4.Useful tip on this site re tax rebate for the washing of work uniforms. Forwarded this to my brother who has to wear a uniform at work , and this info will be useful in my line of business too. That sounded saucy.... but I can assure you my job isn't !
5. My neighbour brought us round a huge bowl full of tomatoes and peppers from her garden . That was very nice of her and they all smell of sunshine
Just noticed that I have another star !!
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all  - flying visit!
Ladyhawk - Have you tried some gentle flossing...you might have a sliver of stone stuck
Frith - Wasps! _pale_
CCP - Sorry to hear you didn't get your chat...hang in there!
Purple Kitten - Sorry to hear you didn't get the job you wanted. Sounds like you're getting plenty of interviews though....you'll get something better
1) Gift of a new handbag from work - to celebrate a milestone
2) Lots of texts from my friends and MrB
3) Being given a high profile project to manage - not too sure if it'll be a pleasure next year when it has to be delivered
4) Being so busy that my work days now fly past
5) Very simple easy to cook meals in the evenings
6) Now off for a nice bath
Hope you're all ok....hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
1, Writing 3 letters to Amish pen pals - really makes me slow down and be patient
2, Listening to The Peasall Sisters on Spotify - love!!
3, Not strictly OS but bought 6 Boden (my new love) tops on eBay for less than 1 would cost new.
4, Almost finished scarf number two - this one is for my Mum
5, Knitting group was at lunch time today - amazing group of ladies!0 -
Evening all.
My manager was back at work today and I asked her about the meeting that wasn't - her response was "well, it wasn't in my diary... (checks diary)... oops". :rotfl:
Today's pleasures:
1) HG tomatoes in my lunchtime sandwich.
2) Got my essay in - I'm so pleased to see the back of it! :j
3) Some HM damson gin to celebrate.
Purple kitten - I'm sorry you didn't get the job this time. I'm sure the next one you go for will be perfect for you, and you'll get it.
mhagster - there's a band of guerilla knitters in Portsmouth - I'm particularly fond of the knitted patchwork cover they made for one of the benches on the seafront - it probably needs to be wrapped up warm, too.
Frith - I hope your hand has recovered from the nasty stripy, stinging thing. (I can't abide wasps.)
Back after a very long break!0 -
Sparrer, would it help to put pepper around your conifers? Might keep the moggies off.
1) Managed to save three pairs of trousers that got rather overdried in the tumble drier by ironing them carefully.
2) Have kept up with making sandwiches for DH and DS. I still have a small portion of the previous evening's meal as it's easier to be gluten free that way but we must have saved quite a lot of money on lunches.
3) Feeling a little sad that the veggies from the garden have almost run out now. We won't be self-sufficient for more than a week. However, there are still parsnips and a red cabbage at the allotment, along with all the rogue potatoes.
4) Took a pot of lemon curd to a neighbour. They are so friendly and they've promised me a 'bucket full of pears'. I bottled most of them last year and they were delicious.
5) Found a cheque for £5.90 that I had forgotten to pay in. It won't go far but every little helps.0 -
Not sure it's a pleasure......
picked up a nice bag of pickling onions, had the vinegar and spices. Peeled them and currently in salt. So far so good until, my eyes are burning like anything, and I noticed my fingers have gone a fetching greeny brown shade :P
Got some washing done now my house is no longer an icebox as the boiler is fixed. Carbon monoxide detector went off the other day and we've been shut down since then. I think it's been kicking out a low level for a while as I've had really problems with headaches and tiredness......which are better since that was shut off. Scary really.
Almost a pleasure, but not quite - forgot to make my moisturiser today!
hugs to those that need them.......and hugs to those that don't tooProud to be dealing with my debts :T
Don't throw away food challenge started 30/10/11 £4.45 wasted.
Storecard balance -[STRIKE] £786.60[/STRIKE] £7080 -
Wow thank you for the kind comment’s I was annoyed as there is nothing I would have changed, but it didn’t take long to pass.
I keep applying and I am getting through the door so perseverance. Thank you for your support, I’m waiting for feedback on today’s interview and I have 2 more lined up next week.
And good luck to all the others that have/had interviews as well, Lady Hawk hope it went well today.0 -

2. DS's coming home this week end
3. DS's bringing his washing home too
4. DS's wanting another red cross parcel to take back to Uni with him
