Millie - I've got a copy of the Takeaway Secret, too (I think a lot of OS forumites have
) - thanks for reminding me that I haven't cooked anything from it for a while
I have been looking for it for a while in the Works and finally found it today and let out a mini woop in the shopI have had my nose buried in it since dinner and have been reading some recipes out to OH and he keeps saying "yes, please". Am going to have a play at the weekend, but can't decide what to try first!
millie - I would recommend the Chicken Pakora recipe - page 90 something!! I hope your mare is still ok?
Thanks, I will try that oneFeeb is still sound, thank you (or as sound as she gets) *toucheswood* They both had the devil in them tonight, little monsters! Mrs ponycarer had left the oldie's nice clean rug on her stable door and it had been removed and trampled on...lovely! Good job they have their own washing machine

Evening all,
It's been a good day today... no particular reason...
1) NSD
2) Turns out 4 out of our team of 14 are looking to move house so we had great fun showing each other the ones we are interested in online.
3) Went to a work networking event this afternoon which was really good.
4) Went to look at two properties this evening... one was a gorgeous little cottage in a great location but just a little on the small side and I think parking would be annoying. The second one was good in so many ways but just not for me. But it was fun to look anyway.
5) Whipped up some soup for supper from bits and bobs from the freezer/ fridge/ cupboard
Night night - have a great Wednesday
L
ETA - finally did one of my hated cleaning jobs - cleaning the kitchen floor. I have no idea why I loathe it so... cos its really not that bad...Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
got four beetroot for 30p - boiled it up and pickled it
Got a nice big bowl of tomatoes from the greenhouse today!
Home made lamb curry (lamb shoulder - reduced to £5 for 1.5 kilo)
seperated all of the meat off the lamb bone. There's enough for another couple of curries and a nice big bone to boil up for soup.
Prepared bed in garden ready for autumn planting shallots, onion and garlic
hope all are wellProud to be dealing with my debts :T
Don't throw away food challenge started 30/10/11 £4.45 wasted.
Storecard balance -[STRIKE] £786.60[/STRIKE] £7080 -
Evening all
Lots of pleasures from the first two days of my new job!
1) I get free lunch everyday - either cooked or packed and free breakfast on Fridays :j
2) And free fruit :money:
3) And there's a gymI might need it after pleasures 1 and 2
4) Was reading through the HR page today and it seems I'll be able to get a corporate Makro card and Costco card too
5) Meeting lots of lovely new people
6) Seeing my old neighbour - who will be working two desks down from me...nice to see someone familiar
7) Off to Newcastle for a course tomorrow - free drinkies/dinner and over night stay on the company - I must behave and not have too many
8) Lovely chats with a very old friend
9) Chat with best mate and little girl on Skype on Sunday
10) Chat with mum on phone last night
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Posted in between watching the Bond Film Tomorrow Never Dies :-)
1- A guilty pleasure, as I don’t have a job at the moment - I laid in.
2- Went off to the hospital for a blood test, this is an achievement for me, I could not watch them do it but it was fine.
3- A walk in the sun
4- Treated to a cafe lunch.
5- Picked up a new/unused cat flap and animal toys from a new charity shop that has opened up, sometimes it can be right time, right place.0 -
Nuttybabe, I've also had an asthma review as the asthma gets a lot worse with changeable weather, and I don't like the steriod courses when it gets out of hand. They have also changed my inhalers to strong doses and it seems to be working - touch wood.
I've found the asthma uk website is also a good source of information, I don't work for them so it's not a plug!:)0 -
ouch Kittikins, hope your leg continues to improve with lots of tlc from OH and DD. Pleased your DD is feeling well enough to eat something
Good to see you Mhagssounds like you're having a super time. I hear what you're saying re settling in your new home, it's surprising how easy it is to slip into a new environment. Especially when it's so different!
Millie I'm yet another one with The Takeaway Secret, it comes in very useful when the DGC come as trips to the burger and chicken places can be very expensive
CCP hope you get the books sorted out asap, and feel better now
Chicken well done on rescuing the loaf. Nice one! (Men, huh  )
Hawthorn well done on your foodie OS day
Wow Carolyntia, you've got a super package with your new position. I'd be happy with just the fruit!
Mine for today
1. The friend who was coming for coffee didn't, again. The pleasure was I had no housework to do so could spend time in the garden with a book, before doing some small chores out there.
2. Stuck to the menu plan, so didn't waste food by eating what I didn't need. Tough, but necessary
3. Postie brought me a good sized sample of hair conditioner, my freebie drawer is getting rather full
4. Hairy Bikers Meals on Wheels, well done them for reinstating the service in a village where it had lapsed
5. Phone call from Ds to say he and DSGS are coming to stay for a weekend shortly
Night night, sleep tight
S x0 -
1) Enjoying work and thinking, as I drove there, how many years I've been doing this (I'm in my eighth year after starting again when DD and DS went to the 'big' school).
2) Popping in to see a friend after work. We had a cuppa and she sent me off with a home-grown purple pepper.
3) Digging up some of our potatoes from the garden. They are just lovely and not yet mauled by the slugs.
4) Just about to go and dose myself with rhubarb vodka for the slight cough I seem to have.0 -
you gotta love jetlag! Wide awake at 3am again!
1.Walking my dog! She is such a lovely girl & I do know we made the right decision not to take her to Australia but it was a very hard decision to make. So nice big walk yesterday morning but she didn't see any squirrels
2.Popped into DD2's old school (and mine! I was very involved with school & was pleased to find DD2's new school has similar values, size & 'feel' to the place), she was delighted to see her old classmates , many off whom she is still in touch with.
3.Hairdressers....what can I say? A proper haircut at last....just what I wanted! Eyebrows waxed & I looked gorgeous again! DD2 went from shoulder length hair to pixie cut! I popped out of salon for half hour to see old work colleagues & came back to new look child! She loves it & it really suits her but ...... a surprise when I got back! DD1 got her haircut how she wanted too...and looked gorgeous! We have had a bit of trouble getting the style we were after in Oz, maybe should try another hairdresser ?
4.Went into my old work where I worked for 4 years & said hello ( we are all going out next week), just lovely to see everyone! Feel like I have never been away in some respects and in others I am aware of just how far I have 'travelled' in my new life!
5.Popped in to see niece.......now wee baby ,this is getting beyond the joke...when are you coming out! Lovely to see her, we are very close & I have missed her so much and will miss this baby when it comes! Thank goodness for skype!
6. Primark! Got loads of items like maxi dresses for DD2 for 1 pound. 2 tops for 1 pound......silly prices really but fabulous for us just coming into warmer weather. I find clothing very expensive in Oz...well everything is really & when I know how much cheaper things are here I grudge spending the asking price. Hence my love of Op shops.
7.Tea at our oldest friends house, again as if we'd never been away. We laughed & laughed so much and now I think OH can really see why I have missed my friends so much. It would be so much better in Oz if they were all there with us. We all had a wonderful evening and kids came back with borrowed bikes ! Handed in my Christmas presents & next lot of birthday presents to save postage!
8.Straight to bed! About 9.15pm......to be wide awake at 1am then 3am.
Have a good one!0 -
Morning, been up and put the bins out and hung a load of washing on the line already.
Mine for yesterday
1. Lovely sunshine - long may it last
2. Walking to station listening to my ipod, I've missed my music since i stopped driving to work so it was lovely to have some again
3. Reviewing nephew's dissertation - took ages but it was nice to help him out and hopefully get it over the pass mark. I think it'll be ok but wish he'd sent it to me a couple of weeks ago, not 3 days before hand in. I know more about wave turbines than i ever thought necessary.
4. Someone left me a drumstick lolly on my desk - yum
5. Having a fairly tidy house.
First teaching day of the new academic year today, wish me luckI wanna be in the room where it happens0
