Ooh I love sunday evenings at this time of year - x factor and downton. :j
A strange day today but here's my 5
1. Took DD to airport - she is going to France for a few days. Not a pleasure for me as such but it is an honour to go as Ambassador for her school and she was really excited.
2, DS and me - the half of the family still in England as OH is away too - were invited out to lunch with friends
3. An afternoon of chutney making, banana bread baking and apple and blackberry mush making.
4. Really have finished my cardi :T
5. Didn't have to cook dinner - just a snack for the boy.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. NSD
2. I did lots of cutting back brambles etc in the garden and took a car load to the tip
3. Lovely friend came over to do gardening with me in the afternoon - she's a whirlwind! OH was great in his directorial role
4. Fabulous cuddles with DD
5. I cooked us all a lovely meal, the slow cooker beef was apparently amazing, so I'm very pleased about that. There is enough left over for 2 meals for OH
6. Lovely friend (see above) has offered to babysit DD for me soonShe's DD's favourite ' Aunty' and OH and I will enjoy our night out
7. Planning Sunday lunch with friend and her parents soon, it'll be lovely to have them come over
8. Planning a weekend at friend's place with DD and OH
9. Drank far too much wine again but luckily not too much....., I must make sure I don't over-indulge at Sunday lunch though!!
10. The continued sunshine, hoorah!0 -
Well, that was quite a busy weekend!
Saturday
1) Got house all tidy.
2) Went to MrB's.
3) Made a chocolate cake with MrB's son2. Bit nerve racking - strange kitchen, strange oven, different child from normal! - but it was really nice.
4) Went to a local stately home for a walk.
Sunday
1) Waking up with MrB.
2) Popped home for a bit.
3) Mum and dad's wedding anniversary lunch.
4) MrB being a surprise visitor after lunch (well, not a surprise to me! Told the rest of the family when he was nearly there).
5) MrB putting a webcam on the laptop and my sons jumping about in excitement, talking to their friends on FB then waving to my mum in her kitchen!
6) Going to bed with MrB.
Tired now!0 -
Hello everyone
Just popping on here to say hello and post my 5. Hoping to get a few more things done at a leisurely pace and reward myself later by reading some OS threads (never get time to read them all!)
1. mixed number one as its DS2 (and my youngest...my baby) first full-time day at school. I'm relieved he seems fine with it and I also feel fine with it after about a year of emotionally building up to it and thinking it would be awful. Maybe today is ok as its a novelty but I have tons planned (mostly stepping up OS, big declutter/clean, tackle garden , DIY, OU & other courses, helping at school, more walking, helping out friends, odd chunks of time doing nice stuff for me (like swimming, maybe trips to new place, coffees with friends) At some point later I suppose maybe getting a paid job or setting up small business? Phew! pause for breath:rotfl:
2. shared few giggles with couple of friendly mums at school gate
3. feeling bit better today after a week of a 'orrible cold
4. might treat myself to something nice (thinking coffee and cake in cafe mmmm)after food shopping to celebrate today
5. making cakes today for DS2 to share with DS1after school also to celebrate his big day
apologies for waffling ...felt like I needed to.
have a good day everyone, hugs if you need them too0 -
Well, whole post just disappeared - as they sometimes do.
Something of a relapse, so not best pleased.
1. Have watched/listened to rugby. A cruel outcome for Scotland. So sorry, mhagster.
2. Enjoyed and was surprised by this from dear Grauniad:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/sep/24/alice-cooper-my-family-values
3. Further Grauniad pleasure is a wonderful section from Claire Tomalin's forthcoming biography of Dickens.
4. In view of the very difficult climate and real threat to quality reporting that The Grauniad[and other broadsheets]face, I think I have decided to do my minimal dot and subscribe, if only for Sat/Sun, in response to what Alan Rusbridger has powerfully written. Don't know when I'll manage to read them, though.
5. Watching Mark Cavendish win the World Championship and the entire team's 3 years of dedication and training come to fruition. Every one of those riders rode themselves into the ground for that victory. Extraordinary and remarkable.
6. Gathered raspberries, rhubarb and remaining few apples to make a mixed jam, which turns out to be lush.
It's a weird, damp grey day. I thought rising Indian summer temps and sun were due all week.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

1. I have been up in the loft sorting out stuff for Ebay mainly Next and M&S coats which I no longer use but should make money out of them.
2. Sorted out another load to go to the car boot probably this weekend if I can do it!
3. Took some items back to Next form their sale. Noticed on my Next invoice that the crafty toads had charged me £3.75 for the Next autumn winter catalogue which they said I could have for free - refund given and the delivery charge of £3.99 back as well - very happy with that!
4. Cleaned the back windows from the work being done. They were the last to do, all the windows in the house are open with a lovely freshness coming in and I am making the most of this week because it is liekly to be gone after next week!
5. Paid for the car tax online instead of getting in the queue at the Post Office to do it - quick and it was a breeze and I didn't have to pay to park the car either! Saved on petrol and parkingCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Afternoon all.
I can get in early today with my pleasures as I'm off work today, and for the rest of the week, too.
For yesterday:
1) A lazy day doing nothing very much in particular. (Snap, sparrer!)
2) Working out a rather messy series of extension cables so I can still use my computer even though the usual plug socket is out of order. (I'm not good on things electrical, but I'm pretty certain it's not right to see blue sparks when you plug something in to the socket.)
3) Watched the grand prix, and a very good race it was too.
4) Made a rather nice mushroom stroganoff for dinner, admittedly using sauce from a jar.
5) Came 3rd in the pub quiz, largely due to me getting an unprecedented 7 out of 10 on the sports round. :j (It says a lot for our team's lack of sports trivia knowledge that I'm meant to be the expert!)
Today didn't start off too well: the mog was a serious pest all night - he woke me up at least a dozen times before I gave in to the inevitable and got up- and I eventually lost my temper with him so I spent the morning feeling horribly guilty.
He's now forgiven me, though, so:
1) Cuddles with the mog once he'd forgiven my uncharacteristic loss of temper.
2) Got the flat tyre on my car replaced - thanks Mr AA Man! :T
3) Gave my tomato plants their autumn pruning, cutting off most of the leaves to give the tomatoes a chance to ripen. (I know I can ripen them inside but I always think they taste better if they've ripened on the plant.)
4) Phoned up to ask my gas supplier where my latest bill had got to and happened to mention that my last bill was higher than expected. After ten minutes of tapping the keyboard and whistling through his teeth (;)), the nice customer service man announced he'd managed to knock £13 off my monthly direct debit. I'm not sure how that works, but I'm not complaining! :money:
5) Beautiful warm, sunny weather for much of the day. (Sorry, ampersand - I'll try to send it your way.)
6) Did an AF order which, for once, was made up of about 90% things I actually need as opposed to things that just sound nice.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
ampersand -sorry to hear that you are not feeling any better:(
beachbaby- your "favourite " cyclist did quite well for himself then???
frith- oooh Mr . B has now "met the parents";) Your posts ooze happiness- good for you x
5 for today
1. First day back at work for quite some time. I only did a half a day following my phased return recommnded by Occ. Health and my g.p. It was lovely to see my colleagues again. My back is now in spasm again though , still I expected some discomfort and have tomorrow off to adjust.
2. My "work" trousers now fall down when they are done up - I appear to have lost even more weight I am not trying to. My colleagues said that they noticed the difference in me too, having not seen my for several weeks.
3. More tokens collected from my Mums newspaper towards my £5 Mr. T voucher.
4.French beans and courgettes picked from the garden.
5. Prawn Thai yellow curry for tea with the veg from the garden and bottom of the fridge veg. It was very nice.
Have a good evening everyone!!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Ladyhawk and CCP-thank you both so much for your kind words. TBH I was in shock as I could not believe what I was hearing , as it was so discriminatory! Still now I have "fire in my belly" and the dye has been well and truly cast, so to speak. Bring it on !!
Keith - I am sorry , but I need to ask . Is the cake that you put out on your lawn one of your own creations???;)
sparrer - what a nice neighbour you have !
5 for today
1. Beautiful weather - I love the "watery" sun of Autumn.
2. OH cut down some branches from our huge maple tree . I spent the day in the sun cutting these up in to small pieces in order to fit in our recycling bin. Methodical and relaxing - just what I needed today. The hens like the company too.
3. My nextdoor neighbour brought me a bottle of brandy to say "thank you" for the eggs that my hens give her each week.
4. Made one of the recipes on Weezles site - salmon trimmings, cream , garlic and pasta . To keep the glycaemic index low I added mushrooms . Very nice.
5. Making my sisters day as OH had dressed two crabs that he had caught ( no, not in a spiderman outfits) . She adores them .
Have a good evening all !
