  • Morning everyone, quick post as Spud just waking!

    1. Toddlers yesterday with friend, she gave me a lift as I can't drive, and we were able to sit out in the sun on the cricket club veranda, then we came back here and had lunch and a gossip :)

    2. OH being stood up by his mate, not a pleasure for him, but meant he was home and was waffling about nothing and making me laugh!

    3. The sun is shining, I've stripped the bed and already put fresh bedding on, rather than waiting until bedtime and looking at it with a sigh!

    4. Friend is coming round for a cuppa this aft, and I've made lemon drizzle cake and fudge to share - bit less fudge than I made as I had to quality control it!

    5. Bits of the house that have been decluttered are amazingly staying that way, and making it much faster and easier to clean and tidy up!

    Evening People,

Mhags - hope you have arrived safely - have I misunderstood about the baby???

    1) Got up super early for my trip down to Hastings... and it was not too painful... except that there was a nasty accident on the M25 that made me late. (how selfish am I??? I hope that everyone made it out ok)

    2) Went out on one of the fishing boats and it really was fascinating. It is always good to watch people who are good and passionate about their craft.

    3) Stopped off at a couple of farm stalls on the way back and picked up some yummy bits and bobs.

    4) A decision has been made at work about something that I was working on... it's a relief as it was hanging over me. Now it is just up to me to make it work!

    5) Yummy supper of fresh fish (that we caught this morning) and veggies from the garden. I am really looking forward to that.

    Have a great weekend

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Well it has been a lovely day weatherwise.

    1. DH has now finished the gable ends front and back. It is complete apart form him having to do the gloss painting of the rear fascias and then we are done. Been a huge job and much worry, but thankfully it is a job that needed doing and has now been completed. It will need to be repainted again in about four years or so, but as for replacing the boards that will not need to be done for at least 30 years!

    2. I swept up everywhere and dug out some moss from the block paving, it all looks clean and tidy.

    3. Apart from taking the dogs for a walk twice today and sorting out the horses I have not left the garden or house today and it has been wonderful.

    4. I mowed the front lawn and edged it with the strimmer. The front of the house, all newly painted, swept up and neat lawns looks absolutely fab, I am so pleased.

    5. Read a weather report on Daily Mail that we are in for a mini heatwave next week - that pleases me no end, no heating to go on, the washing will dry on the line and I will be able to get the car cleaned and polished before winter sets in and still be able to admire the house and garden which has now all been completed. Final jobs will be to have a prune back in the garden and cut back the roses bushes before winter.
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

    Yay the weekend is here

    Mine for yesterday

    1. Plonker that i am, I had a mad Panic attack that i'd left my hair straighteners on so had to come home from work - I hadn't but i got a work at home day. And at some point, i will actually do it.
    2. Read quite a lot of my book which i am thoroughly enjoying
    3. OH gone away for a week, so me and the kids can do naughty things like eat or tea with the TV on :D
    4. Freezer cottage pie for tea made from beefburgers defrosted in the great freezer disaster. It was lovely and they might otherwise have got chucked.
    5. Went to bed with the lappy for a while and then had a really good nights sleep

    And for today

    1. Went to friends for coffee - she has her parents staying and i know them from when i was a kid. They are lovely and were reminiscing about when they met and got married in the war, married 65 years and are still quite "lovey dovey".
    2. Afterwards, I went blackberrying down the lane in the warm sunshine. COuld pretend for a while that summer was still here.
    3. Went shopping with DD after school as she is on a trip to france next week and needed "stuff" - not very MSE but it is nice she still wants to be seen with mum and doesn't just demand money and a free taxi (to be fair she probably knows she'd get short shrift if she did!)
    4. Soup and pudding night for tea
    5. Froze the left over brisket from 2 nights ago - it was so tender and has made another 4 roast dinners.

I'm looking forward to a lazy weekend with some nice weather. At some point i need to do the work i should have done yesterday, but not tonight.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

It does feel strange not having Mhags posting in the mornings (her evenings) but am sure she's having a wonderful reunion with her family by now. Ladyhawk I think it's a friend in Scotland whose baby was imminent :)
Rainy-Days you must both be so pleased with a job well done, and a huge saving. Truly OS :D

    1. This amazing weather - at long last!
    2. Dug over a small patch which has the remains of a gooseberry and several cob nuts taking root. Managed to do half before I gave in for the day but have something to look forward to tomorrow. I love gardening even if I can only manage it in short sessions
    3. The winter potatoes, which I planted only a few days ago, are showing tiny sprouts already
    4. Kind neighbour saw me looking at the car handbook, asked if there was something wrong and when I explained, he said he will put the new bulbs in for me
    5. Washing is in the machine ready to go on Econ 7, to be hung out in the sun :D in the morning

    Night night, sleep tight

5 or so for today (Friday).

    1) £4 hair cut at college.

    2) Sainsburys without sons.

    3) Good Housekeeping came in the post (my friend gets me a subscription for Christmas).

    4) Went for a walk in the forest with sons and my brother after dinner.

    5) Sink got blocked up. It took me 10 minutes to dismantle the drain (have done it before) and clean the grot out then over an hour to fit it all back together so it didn't leak.... still, got there in the end!
  • DD is going to Uni this weekend, so it's an expensive time generally. However -

    1) The kettle blew up last night. Fortunately, someone gave DD a kettle to take with her, but the flat already has one, so we are provided for.
    2) Most of DD's groceries came from our cupboards. It made me feel a little better about being well-stocked-but-almost-to-the-point-of-cramming.
    3) DS's half-price pass has come. Hallelujah! We couldn't afford to keep paying full peak time train fares.
    4) My OU books have come. They should have cost £100 but a little shopping around got them down to £48. Now I just have to read them ...
    5) Still eating our apples. They have a very waxy skin, so I'm hopeful they will keep. Also ate the whole crop of tomatoes - 7 in all - this evening with lettuce from the pots outside.

    Have a restful weekend, all.
  • Some of mine over the past few days are

    1. Lovely walks and seeing some great sunrises that have been beautiful most mornings.

    2. Now working 4 days so less chance of spending money and taking lunch in with me.

    3. Picked loads of apples and pears also blackberries and so much cooking and jam and chutney making.

    4. Washing all being done on economy 7.

    5. Having a parents evening for DS2 and it being fairly positive and the teachers are willing to really push him and give him lots of extra work. I now know what he needs to do aswell.

    5. Having a chat with a friend who I hadn't spoken to in ages.
