Good evening all. Not enough time for a proper catch up but I'll quickly post my five for today,
1. My car insurance renewal - £14 a month less than last year!!!
2. Gifts of a whole salmon and a bag of cooking apples from friends.
3. An unexpected and touching gift from a good friend.
4. Visit from DD1
5. A lovely day at work including tea and toast in front of a roaring log fire.
Love to all. X0 -
Good evening all
sparrer- please can I be your other nextdoor neighbour?- I have a penchant for scones.
CCP- good on you for you recognising that you may need support with your workload. I hope that your manager listens to you and that your concerns are documented.
millie- hope your OH is not hunting around for the Celebrations tonight:) Glad to hear that your mare is still sound.
6 pleasures found during a somewhat weird day
1. Went to see my g.p for a "fit note" to reflect the Occupational Health report regarding my "phased return" to work over the next 4 weeks.CCP my manager did not listen and unfortunately I did physically collapse - my concerns were clearly documented during supervision sessions ( please ,please request this). At the surgery I met a man that I have known informally for years and he asked if he could have a chat,as he has some serious health issues and his daughter committed suicide some time ago which figured highly during the conversation. He talked and talked and I nearly missed my appointment -I left the surgery in a headspin and my car would not start !! Pleasure ? Nice roadside assistance chap came within the hour and jump started it- need a new battery , thats all.
2. New battery is not going to be too expensive as we have a friend in the trade .
3.Got some bargains whilst waiting for car to be rescusitated (sp?). Conditioner with broken lid, baby soap etc.
4. Made some chocolate brownies with crushed weetabix, some toblerone that OH won in a raffle which was "deformed" as someone had let it melt in their car, and a batch of fairy cakes - recipes from the "£30 a week to feed a family of five " site. My Mum had a brownie and was enjoying it until I told her that they had weetabix in the and then her mouth remained pursed as she does not like them.
5. Nine greedy hens sitting on the wall outside my kitchen door in order to see me hoping for "crumbs" whilst the cooking session was taking place. They have the whole garden to enjoy yet choose to be where we are all the timeIf I walk up the garden I fee like the Pied Piper of Henlyn:rotfl:
6. Banked the £117 rebate from the utility company.
Have a good evening all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
A quick Bonjour -
1. In bed all day. Finally worked out how to use cassette player element of Sony micro system[after nearly 3 years], so have listened to Lovejoy story tapes with great pleasure - including rather too many re-winds back to point where I've fallen asleep. Elizabeth George next, I think - whodunnits, but untaxing.
2. Cancelled all today's appts without angst.
3. Have just enjoyed the Chicken Soup made avant-hier.
4. Sweet call from lovely A, volunteer from our great Charity Showroom @ Bury.
She'd also written me a card wishing me success at the Antiques Fair, which I saved until a half-moment presented itself. That wasn't till mid-afternoon.
5. This amount of Being Up feels like enough, so I'm back to bed now.
Do wish all this nuisance would just get a grip on itself and stop.
Apologies for dreary post, but thankyou for the kind wishes posted.

mummysaver nice to hear from you, had been wondering how you were. Enjoy your relaxed pace while you can. Glad to hear baby is doing well too!
I am now on Thursday morning but will recall Wednesday's pleasures.....after a slight hormonal/stressy outburst of tears at work yesterday morning. The boys I work with just looked at me & were all concerned, thinking something dreadful had happened! Something silly had happened & I over-reacted (like totally!).......anyway.....
1.Great chat with my niece whilst I got started at work yesterday....did all the things I could do one-handed whilst holding phone with other! only a few more days till baby is due.
2.Came home from work! Lovely day , 21o (that's a much better temperature, I can cope with that), enjoyed watching the ducks & parrots on way back to car.
3.DD1 had hung out washing before school, so got that in & ironed. Finished packing , reduced one extra bag between 3 others.
4.OH confirmed......by 'so what are you making on Thursday night for everyone?' that we have dinner guests tonight! Had been a casual suggestion at weekend to a colleague but nothing definate had been arranged! So the night before we fly home we are having lasagne and pavlova!
Made pavlova, made french toast using the egg yolks. Made lasagne sauce using up all the veggies in the fridge& one small pack of minced beef...s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d! Then had to go & buy salad (RTC) a small pepper, garlic bread, cheese. Grrrrr. However, I'm sure it will be good company but just not the night before we leave!
5.Have a tidy house....nothing like guests coming to spur on my apathy! Was like a whirling dervish with my hoover & mop! The plus side will be it's now all done before I go away!
So now, I come home tomorrow, well start the journey! I'll try & get on every now & again. Not sure if it will be everyday. I am so looking forward to seeing my friends, family, my darling doggy & most of all my new great niece/nephew (please don't be late!).
Take care & catch up soon xx0 -
Evening
Pleasure for the last couple of days:
1. NSD today not had one of these for ages
2. Attending an event at L'Occitane with a friend yesterday. We paid £10 for the pleasure but came away with a fantastic goody bag plus a free hand cream. Plus had a couple of glasses of wine whilst there. Trying to hide my goodies from DD as she has taken a fancy to some of it.
3. Had dinner out with friend, was quite MSE as shared a starter, had a 2for1 voucher for main and had the mini dessert.
4. Lovely walk home from work tonight in the sun and the wind blowing the cobwebs away
5. Joint family effort in the kitchen tonight cooking dinner of HM burgers
Hugs to all who need them and hope the poorlies are feeling better0 -
Evening, everyone. Quick update from me:
1. Had a nice meal at Mum's tonight. Bless her, she learnt a new dish and feels really good with the increase in cooking vocab.
2. Watching the Hairy Bikers' Meals on Wheels - always enjoy them.
3. A sit down. My legs are aching a lot from yesterday's exercise session, so sitting down is a treat!
4. Not going out at lunchtime and spending the time catching up on my sewing. Am getting along nicely with it.
5. Spending time with my family.
That's it - got to clock off now! Take care all.

5 or so for today (Weds).
1) Went to mum and dad's and saw our old neighbours who had gone round for a cup of tea.
2) Finished painting the landing/stairs! Quite pleased with it.
3) Up to date with housework and washing.
4) Electricity bill - haven't used as much as they had estimated.
5) Went to Croft Castle (Nat Trust so free) after school with sons and my brother. Lovely for a look round, fantastic gardens and views too. We spent ages on the playground bit when we had finished, went to leave - and had been locked in!!!! :-D I escaped by climbing over a gate and sons and brother clambered down and up the moat (I think it was a ha-ha, actually, but they preferred to call it a moat after their escapades)!
6) Texts from MrB :-) Missing him now, looking forward to Saturday.0 -
Mhags safe journey, check in when you can but most of all enjoy your holiday in UK
ampersand pleased you're being sensible re bed-rest and chicken soup, it's the best thing you can have when you're poorly. Hope you have someone who can shop for you.
Kittikins and chicken, believe me giving away two large fresh cream scones is one of the hardest things I've ever done! But weigh day tomorrow so hope it pays off
CCP everything x'd that the meeting with your manager goes the way it should. Well done you for realising what you need to do
1. At last I might have found a shower gel that suits. I have really dry skin and have tried all sorts, someone suggested Mr M's baby bath and it worked, and still felt good after a few hours. Best of all, it was on offer at 2 for £2. I sound like an ad for the stuff but it's so good when you find something you've begun to think doesn't exist.
2. Found quite a few mo vouchers on one of the boards, should save me a good bit when I next go shopping
3. When I was tidying the freezer and cupboard yesterday I found lots of odd bits which I chucked into the sc today. The smell is sooo tempting, but mustn't have any before tomorrow lunchtime of the scales won't do what I want them to
4. Was able to help a neighbour who wants/needs a new kitchen, the HA are dragging their heels so I gave her a gew tips on who to speak to and what to say. I retired from local authority housing some 8 years ago but pleased I can still advise, especially when the kitchen in question is in a dire condition.
5. Feel very lucky as it was a beautiful day here, had the back door open all day and didn't need to put a cardi on til I sat down for lunch.
Night night, sweet dreams

Mine for the last two days
1. I've stopped aching :T
2. I've raised £200 for charity in 2 weeks (n.b. i didn't technically "have" to raise money in order to do the GNR but thought that "every little helps" so didn't even work that hard at it.)
3. DS seems to be getting on better at school and, at long last, accepts that homework has to be done whether he makes a fuss or not, so he might as well just get on with it
4. Lovely slow - cooked piece of brisket yesterday, it could've passed for costing twice what it did.
5. OH's friend came for dinner as they have gone on holiday today with a couple of other mates. Very boozy evening.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1. - Had a sort of lie in this morning (half an hour) with DH bringing me a cup of coffee in bed
2. - Went into town to get some things and was so glad to come home! I am turning into an old fart, I am convinced of it. I hate going into town now I have no idea why.
3. - Had the washing out on the line before I went out and it was dry for when I came home. Laundry basket is now almost empty with washing on top of!
4. DH is on the home straights now with the front gable ends nearing completion then it will be just the back to do tomorrow and then it will be finished :jthank goodness. They do look lovely though.
5. Looked at the changing leaves on the trees on the way home from town and seeing all the horse chestnuts lying on the ground. I love this time of year. September is just my fave month!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
