Another day - fed up with being as I was - so looked online and:

    1. Found The Snug in Cambridge was screening NZ vs France, preceded by some other country:D vs Romania, plus The Rugby Breakfast with unlimited More's. Still in-and-out fever-y, head peculiar etc.etc. and no longer want porridge. Was there by 06.30h and proceeded to have a thoroughly enjoyable time, armed also with Grauniad, bought at village shop en route.

    2. Cathartic shouting, with others of same persuasion. A jolly mixed crew of interesting peeps, amongst whom: 3 PhD candidates, all having to present final things on Monday, a UK Prof, living in Finland, who commutes to give his lectures[had one to give at 11], another Uni couple who were going off to marry in the afternoon, a Hungarian girl and Mauritian boy[a stunningly beautiful pair]who were both having the Rules of The Game explained by ALL of us:-

    3. Reverbe - found that 5p you left on the floor! Thankyou.

    4. Left car in Park and Ride, then back[merci Bus Pass] to find a single 2.5mm nut from old-fashioned ironmongers, Mackay's, for an Art Deco piece found in France. After more than an hour, it turned out to be a one-off nut and bolt expressly made. The chap loved demonstrating his knowledge, said he had Huguenot heritage etc.etc and I felt it rather made his day. In the event, he suggested I use milliput, which I will do as I always have it for china restoration. It will be acceptable on the underside of the marble. I always enjoy Mackay's.

    5. It's been a softly warm, balmy day and the coming week promises , DECENT WEATHER AND BIG WARMTH. Let's all thank mhagster for bringing it over with her:j:T

    6. Gift of honeycomb from a shop I much enjoy visiting and occasionally have brocante-y/Fair bits from. I like the family immensely and they are always more than fair/generous towards me, knowing I have little and need to buy quirky things>profit. I will take a Lemon Drizzle cake and some jam/lime marmalade in again[they seemed v. pleased once before; remarked on them again today.]

    7. Bed now; don't feel right, but that's no change from the last few weeks and being out was better than being in.

    8. Oh, @ Mr T, bought more President unsalted butter to freeze. It is the cheapest they have atm: 115p - 4p per pack cheaper than their cheapie Value butter, which is ridiculous.

    9. Also was there just as Barbie tea sets and Finest glammy embossed silver wrapping paper[3m rolls] were being reduced to 30p and 10p respectively. Even I could afford to buy and donate/pass on at these prices. Did so.

    10. I am going to have a cup of gorgeous French hot chocolate in bed.

Bonne nuit - as I enjoy Adrian Mole[with John Tydeman and Sue Townsend interposing chat and so enjoying each other's company]on R4 Extra. It's lovely.

Rainy-Days I used to dread the dentist, the sound of rasping put my own teeth on edge! Strange how they seem to know it's for their own good. Mind you if I had that speculum in my mouth I'd stand still to get it over with as quickly as possible!
Chicken I have amazing neighbours both sides, I'm truly blessed :). Pleased to hear you've got your dander up, don't you let anyone discriminate against you. Grrrrr, That makes me mad!
CCP good to hear your DSis made an effort to eat, From experience (not mine thank goodness) I know it's a horrible illness and I feel sad for anyone with any sort of eating disorder
keith I so envy you being able to watch badgers etc., feeding, I've never seen one close to. I did see a fox recently, fearlessly ambling across the lane in front of me and through a gate into a field. Very nonchalant :D
Savingqueen hope you and all the poorlies feel better now

    1. Tackled the last of the bed at the end of the garden, then cleared the soil round the bottom patio in prep for pegging in the strawberry runners. Gave the whole garden a good hose down and it looks much better. DNeighbour said 'rustic' - excellent, that's just the look I was aiming for :)
    2. Watched my mogs and dog playing chase with DNeighbour's kitten, it was hilarious as he's a feisty little thing. Great free entertainment
    3. A new discount shop opened in a nearby town, went to have a look-see this pm and it could only be described as manic. Bought one or two genuine bargains then queued for best part of an hour to get through the checkout. I shan't bother again for a few weeks, pleased with my savings though
    4. Two wash-loads flapped away in the sun and breeze, the whole lot dried beautifully by lunchtime
    5. Took the covers off the patio set and DNeighbour and I had tea outside, with an, umm, rather generous slice of carrot cake each :o. But it was pretty tasty for 99p ;)

    Night night, sweet dreams

    Yesterday's joys........

    1. Waking up just before 7am and realising I'd had a full night's sleep :)

    2. Went to A$da to take some stuff back and bought OH some meat, shame it was a pot roast thing rather than a proper roast, but hey ho, I'll learn what the heck to do with it (probably on this board, so helpful for pescetarians to work out what to do with meat :) )

    3. Fabulous cuddles and silliness with DD :)

    4. The 3 of us had a scrumptious picnic in the sunshine, even if I say so myself, being the chef and chief bottle washer, pack horse and all ;):)

    5. We saw a fabulous play at the place we picnicked, DD's first ever Shakespeare and whilst she did get bored, she did remember some of the story from the children's story version of the play, so I was pleased with that.

    6. Cuddled up to OH and watched QI, it's sooooooo lovely to have him staying with us for a few days :):):)

    7. The weather, more of the same please!

    8. My dodgy washing machine is still working, every time I get a load done I'm thankful!

    9. Listening to OH and DD play the harmonica, both very good :)

    10. Free newspapers using OH's parents pre-payment tokens this week
  • Here are some for yesterday

    1. Watched England play rugby and win.

2, Went for a walk and met a friend I hadn't seen in ages and so had a long chat.

    3. Watched DS2 play rugby and both my sisters and niece and nephews came to watch. it was close to their homes. DS2 played well even though the team lost. He also happily spent time playing with his little cousins who are only 5 and 7.

    4. DSis gave me some more jars as I'm having a dat making jams and chutneys.

    5. Lazy evening at home and not needing to go and do anything/ collect someone.

    Evening Ladies and Gents,

Hope you have all had a fabulous weekend.

    1) Exciting rugby on TV this morning... pity Scotland got pipped

    2) Pottered in the garden - cut the grass for hopefully the last time this year and did some weeding

    3) Picked a couple of handfuls of tomatoes

    4) Popped into Dun-Elm and bought a couple of christmas presents for my mum which I couldn't seem to get ny cheaper on the internet. Then went to Mat-Alan to buy a side plate as I dropped one of mine this morning (the first of the set in the 4 years I've had them). Then off to Band Q - and got a few reduced plants and some other goodies that I didn't need but wanted.... And lastly to the local garden centre for a few more reduced herbs and a hanging basket. Now I just have to plant the basket.

    5) Looked at property !!!!!! and think I might have found a couple of nice houses that are in my price range and in a half decent area! I have asked for more details and I hope to go to see them this week.

    6) Tackled the mess that is the kitchen... all the washing up will be done by the time I go to bed... and the floor will have been mopped.

    7) Shredded some confidential papers - a job I hate doing as my shredder is very temperamental and on its last legs... but I am glad it has been done.

    Nighty night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Hiya

    Mine for today

    1. A lie in :j

    2. A fry up

    3. An afternoon crocheting whilst kids played quietly!

    4. Printed out my housework rota and the kids reward charts for the next month ready for tomorrow. :D

    5. A gert lush roast with lots of left over chicken.
  • Good evening all!

sparrer - you do make me laugh:D Cakes seem to be a bit of a theme on this thread what with keith and his wild critters ( sounds like a 60's band), your good self and the courgette cake queen aka Ladyhawk:rotfl:

    6 for today

    1. White bed linen washed and dried on the line with my p.j's - nice sunshine smelling bed for me tonight. A bird did a very tiny poo on the bedding on OH's "side" ( of course);). I did tell him , but it will be dark when he gets in to bed tonight .

    2. My 12 year old nephew came over to see me for a chat and a cuddle -he then collected some eggs from the hen house to take home and told me that he took one of my hen's blue eggs to school for a cookery class and the other pupils thought it was "off" as it was blue . He said that he explained that when chickens have different coloured ears they can lay different coloured eggs. His classmates then said that "they didn't think that chickens had any ears" !!!. I did laugh.

    3. OH brought home the Maily Dail newspaper with a £5 off £40 spend at Mr. T's .

    4. Sorted out stuff for my return to work tommorrow.

5.I was suprised to "find" some more french beans growing as I thought that they were finished. Butternut squash is looking good as are the peppers .

    6.Downton Abbey !

    Have a good evening all
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    2. A lovely mild and breezy day to get my washing dry on the line.
    3. Relaxing walk through a local park and seeing the deer with OH.
    4. Tasty home made beef stew from the freezer.
    5. A glass of wine and cuddle from OH.
    Love to all. X

Ladyhawk it'd be nice to think the next cut is the last - last year it was mid Oct, the year before it was early Nov! That was some shopping trip you had, well done on all the plant bargains
VJsmum :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:at your comment to FunkyFairy. Quite agree ;)

1 - 5. I've been very naughty and had a really lazy day, no housework, no gardening, no laundry, just meeting friends at lunchtime then a siesta, and reading this evening. The nice thing is I don't feel guilty at all :p. I will tomorrow though, isn't conscience a horrible thing? Oh, and it was all free :D

    Night night, sweet dreams
