    Good morning all -
    1. Ally Pally Sat/Sun. Someone was in X14, my space, so was given incredible double frontage instead by the lovely Paul and Blair. At the time, they didn't realise they'd actually given me triple space[no more did I]. It was already a big scary expense, saved for, @ £160 for one! A chap arrived for his part of what was now my vast stand on Sunday morning, v. late, but it was too late for me to move everything and I was simply where I'd been shown. All sorted out eventually - I just kept unpacking and arranging my tonk. It seems to be generally thus, but these organisers are so kind and decent and encouraging to me. I can't hear a word against them without speaking to their defence. It's a nightmare to organise and run anything like this.
    2. So - having done a count up in bed a little while ago, more than reasonable. Have booked for the pre-Crimbo Nov. date - this 1st one @ Ally Pally has been a learning curve. Big, heavy, relentless work alone - finally in bed at midnight. Packing up and roping trailer took nearly 5hrs. Just have to keep head down and keep going.
    3. Emergency appt again shortly. More things not right - so grateful I can phone and be seen today
    4. Cold and rough night in car with no sleeping bag etc[no room]on Sat, but was grateful for Thermos through night.
    5. Before leaving, found rugby commentary for all [I think]matches is on Talk Sport[far cry from usual fodder]. Was glad to listen and also found this moving:

    http://www.itv.com/itvplayer/video/?Filter=273407

before the Japan-All Blacks match on itv, given the horrors and ongoing vicissitudes both countries are experiencing with earthquake disasters and powerful aftershocks still[which don't make the news].
An exceptional haka, more subtle than some, respecting a shared tragedy, and one particular shot of a Japanese player at its close.

Need to get to surgery now. Looking forward to bus pass journey to Bank and Mr T later. Craved more porridge on rtn last night, but had run out of Value Oats.

It is so good to hear the real voice of happy Frith these days and your excitement, mhagster and ccp's burn, nasty. I'm knocked to blazers after w/e efforts. Seem to rip self open after slightest touch these days.

Treat in store - will take a look at home town and childhood McLean Park, just across and down road from our family's South End Grocery Stores. France:j played Canada:j[for my new Quebecquois friends in Valence] at Napier. Will watch later. Thankyou itv player.

Sparrer- shall we venture on another attempt at meeting for soap:D? Next week maybe?

    Happy wishes to all

(((VJsmum))) a very special hug for you. Well done and congratulations on completing the run :T:T:T, I so admire people like you who do these things voluntarily. My dad died from complications related to his emphysema, and I have copd as you know, so the BLF is very close to my heart also. You never know, we might arrange to come and cheer you on next year!! ;)
  • Well done, VJsmum, on doing the Great North Run! I plan to do the Race for Life next year, and can't imagine running anything further. :) Well done.

Here are my pleasures for late yesterday/today:

    1. Cooked roast lamb with roast potatoes, carrots & broccoli last night, and everything was absolutely perfect. Mr KB told me it was spot on, and his mum is the absolute pinnacle of roast dinners, so I feel all chuffed.
    2. I know it's a small one (and probably rather surprising, but..) I made proper gravy from scratch! Again, Mr KB said it was just the right consistency, so cue me being very well chuffed.
    3. Watched a good film last night recorded from the other week. If anyone is into sci-fi/horror films, Pandorum is really rather good. It had a twist I didn't see coming at all. :)
    4. Saw a green woodpecker on the front lawn as I left for work. Aww.
    5. Doing a workout and then a body physical challenge (courtesy of the Wii) and have discovered I've lost an inch off my hips and about half inch off my waist. I'm exceedingly over the moon about that. :D

Have a lovely evening, everyone. We're having wraps for tea. I've a few chicken thighs waiting to be added to sliced onions and mushrooms, and will add some taco seasoning. Then, into wraps they go - yum. I managed to stick to my shopping list when I went to Mr M this morning too :D

    KB xx

  • kitchenbunny -well done on the homemade gravy -there is no turning back now!!!

ampersand- you are still not feeling any better???

sparrer- my Dad died of a COPD related illness so VJsmum is now my Nike clad heroine too xx

    5 for today

    1. Its a beautiful day here in Costa del Sussex!!

    2. Two huge lots of washing dried on the line.

    3. Made OH a cottage pie in the slow cooker .

    4. Used up the rest of the mouldy loaf ( cut that bit off) that OH was going to waste to make a "luxury" bread and butter pudding .He ate the lot.

5.Collecting another lot of "free " points from my Mums newspaper to go towards a £5 voucher .

Have a good evening all x

    Evening all.

VJsmum - :T:T:T:T:T is about all I can say.

    Mine for today:

    1) HG tomatoes to go with my lunch. :j

    2) A phone call from my grandmother to say she'd received the mini rose plant I'd sent her as a house-warming present: I bought it using a 10% off code and got 10% cashback, too, but I don't think she needs to know that. ;)

    3) Easy but tasty dinner tonight - meatballs in sauce from the freezer, with some garlic naan bread from an Approved Food order - all I need to do is cook the spaghetti squash to go with it. :D

OK, I'm struggling now - I've had a frazzling day at work and am about ready to curl up and go to sleep already! Have a nice evening, all. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • Hello. Just popping by

    1. Saw parents (back from holiday and missed)
    2. Cuddling baby
    3. Cuddling puppy
    4. Home grown tomatoes with dinner
    5. Sloe gin looking pretty good in long-ago-saved olive oil bottles.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

    Evening all

VJsmum - well done on finishing :T

Kitchenbunny - I too have to make roasts to match MIL's. Even now, he says mine and his mums are the only roasts he will eat (bit fussy like that!!! :rotfl:)

    Mine for today

    1. Watching ds1 and dd get their star of the week awards. I was so proud especially as 2 of mine were getting them! :D Although I did have to fight back the tears. :p

    2. Ds2 was the 'ray of sunshine' in school today. :D

    3. Did sponge prints in toddler group today. The kids got covered in paint and so did I. :)

    4. Helped dd ice her biscuits.

    5. An evening of crochet in front of the tv (hubby already asleep so I get control of the remote!!! :rotfl:)

Well done, VJ'smum! Ampersand - hope you got on OK at the doctor's and get well soon.

5 or so for today (Monday).

    1) Lovely texts from MrB. :-)

    2) Quiet wander round Sainsburys with no children. Double pack of pyjamas for younger son reduced from £14 to £5! And I got some new slippers - very necessary as I wear them all the time in the house as we have floorboards or tiles (no carpet).

    3) Went with mum for a dog walk and had lunch with her.

    4) Took the scooters to ex mother-in-law's house as the ex had been typically weird and demanded that the boys take the scooters TO SCHOOL so he could collect them (sigh). She (mother-in-law) is/was always nice to me so good to see her briefly after several months.

    5) Did more painting! Have done about 80% of the landing and stair well. Some bits I just can't reach (can't fathom out how to put a ladder up to them either, with the stairs beneath) so I might have to wait for a strapping 6 footer to come round.... oh, hang on - one will be here next week! :-D

    6) Read the penultimate chapter of Harry Potter 2 to the boys, all in my bed with hot chocolate and a hot water bottle each.

    7) Going to have a bath now, listen to Just a Minute on iplayer and see if MrB chats to me online. :-)
