Hoorah for aloe vera CCP, hope you keep on the mend. I've cut my thumb this evening cutting up veggies for DD's favourite bean soup, silly me, I've got so many little cuts on my fingers from grating cheese, cutting bread. I'm becoming a hazard to myself!!
My weekend goodies
1. OH putting up with me whilst I was very grumpy and hormonal yesterday.......his fault for winding me up first thing and making me feel rubbish (oh, okay, I did take something to the extreme, not in my usual way).
2. OH's mummy has lent me her kitchen mixer and given me her tried and tested meringue recipe
3. DD and I went for a great swim, she's like a little dolphin
4. Lovely picnic in the park with her afterwards
5. Made our favourite Tuscan bean soup for dinner tonight, and there's enough for OH next time he comes over
6. 12p for some scrummy hummous and 50p for a bag of pea shoots in Sainsbugs
7. Have made DD a hat for her dressing up day at school on Tuesday, most impressed with myself and what I was able to do with a piece of elastic and a cut up vest!!0 -

4.Got a letter from DD1's school to say I still had $45 outstanding school fees to pay! Er....no I don't! Got cheque book out, looked it up on-line banking & it was paid in June! Phoned school ,who have no record of it being paid.....but they would credit me this time! Nice of them!
5.Not had my pleasure yet, but going out with work colleagues tonight as one of the girls is leaving. Husband coming too , so he will drive (phew) , going to same place him& I went last week, so should be a fun night.

Very Yummy Brownie cupcakes
Do not use SR flour.........believe me....it doesn't work!
8oz plain choc
3oz butter melt together in a pan & allow to cool slightly
2 eggs
7oz dark brown sugar whisk together
1tsp vanilla essence then add
5oz plain flour
2 3/4 oz walnuts (chopped finely, I don't use them but they are in recipe)
add melted choc/butter.
Spoon into 12 cupcake cases &
Bake at 180o/ gas 4 for 30 minutes. They should have a cracked appearance to the top of cake!
Enjoy!0 -
WARNING Great North Run heavy
1. I DID IT!!! managed it in a little over 3 hours, which, considering i thought i'd take 4 was pretty good.
2. It was amazing!!! The atmosphere was incredible - Britain at its best. It isn't about the elite runners or really the fastest times (says she who didn't do a fast time :rotfl:). It is about people running in memory of loved ones, or to raise money for charities close to their hearts. I did it for the British Lung Foundation and for my mum who died from emphysema. It is about people in wheelchairs either pushing themselves or being pushed. One woman stopped to help a man in a wheelchair get up the steep bit - only for him to sail down the hill the other side miles faster than anyone :T. It was about the poor widow of the red arrows pilot who ran in his memory - 3 people had inflatable red arrow planes on their heads and red cloaks! Loads of people were dressed up, to draw attention to their cause, but making it harder for themselves. It was about the people who line the route and encourage you by name (and provide welcome biscuits and jelly babies).
3. My sister's sister in law putting us up at really short notice on saturday because our hotel was too grotty to stay in
4. The hotel manager ringing and apologising and saying that he won't charge us :T
5. The family visiting yesterday and staying late so they could see me when i got back.
I thoroughly enjoyed it - and i'm never doing it again! Although maybe next year i might get under 3 hours....
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJSMUM - Well done on your Great North Run success, hoping to join in next year.:T0
