    5 for today, quickly!

    1) Boys off to school happily.

    2) Took brother's dog for a walk.

    3) Had lunch made by mum.

    4) Given a bag of raspberries and a duck from mum's freezer as their pigs are being slaughtered next Tues and they need the room. Will make duck pancakes, I think.

    5) House clean and tidy.

    6) Woodburning stove lit and working well. Very pleased as I changed the fire bricks and a metal part during the summer and it is still drawing well.

    7) Tea in the oven - brocolli and pasta cheese then apple and raspberry crumble.

    8) MrB due here 6ish. :-) :-) :-)

    Evening all.

    1) A nice, sunny, warm day today. :) Unfortunately I had to spend most of it inside but I was able to console myself that it was at least helping my HG tomatoes to ripen.

    2) Portsmouth was full of the most beautiful classic cars today, on their way to the Goodwood Revival. Every time I thought I'd found my favourite of the day, something even nicer drove past. ;)

    3) Not exactly a pleasure but it was funny: I tried to move a colleague's swivelly chair by pulling on the arm, and the arm came off in my hand! (Honest, guv!) I'm not looking forward to explaining that one to my colleague on Monday morning... (He won't be angry, but I just know he's going to laugh at me! :rotfl:)

    4) Pasta bolognese for dinner, from a batch I made and froze some time ago, jazzed up with some red wine I got on SO. (I usually put red wine in my bolognese but I didn't have any when I made this batch and it definitely hasn't been as good as usual. Of course, I'll now have to find a use for the rest of the bottle - life's very hard sometimes, isn't it? ;))

    5) Looking forward to a fairly early night tonight as I'm really tired - the mog was suffering from insomnia last night and, like most cats, he doesn't believe in suffering in silence. :(

Have a pleasant evening, all. :)
Back after a very long break!
  • CCP -thank you for you kind words

KBunny -welcome back - still no sign of house elf though?

frith- enjoy your evening -your dinner sounds scrumptious.:( I am a bit sad about the impending fate of the pigs I am sure that they have had a great life though.

ampersand -I hope that you are feeling better?

    5 for today

    1. A good start - a "double yolker" boiled egg for breakfast courtesy of Forrest the hen.

    2. I purchased another copy of the "take away secret" for my nephew who has just moved out of my sisters house into his first new home.

    3. Saw the Physio who said that there is some improvement re the muscle "spasticity" in my legs and back.

    4. Picking courgettes and blackberries from the garden, whilst braving the numerous shreddied wheat coloured spiders. There was also a large one on the door of the bank that I went into this morning - they are everywhere.

    5. Home made chinese meal for tea.

Have a great weekend all xx

    Evening all,

Sparrer - thank you for reminding to order some winter potatoes.

Chicken- glad you are regaining movement.

And everyone who commented on the silly boy at work... you are all quite right... there is no point in wasting effort on someone who is "just not that into me"

    1) Laughing hysterically in the office at an email that was going round. There weren't many people in the office and we were all crying with laughter. The email was about autocorrection misunderstandings in text messages.

    2) Walking into town to pay a cheque and some cash into the bank

    3) Getting home relatively early (5.30pm) and feeling inspired to do some gardening. I did an hour and a half and it is starting to look a little tamer

    4) Dug up a big bowl of potatoes

    5) I was seriously thinking about buying another property in my street (I think Imay have mentioned this yesterday?) anyway... I spoke to the estate agent and it looks as if someone else has already offered over the asking price... the pleasure is that now I know it is out of question I can stop wondering whether it is option or not.

Night everyone - have a fabulous weekend

    L

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

nuttybabe those words 'I received a phone call from the school...' could strike worry and fear into a parent ! So was very pleased to hear your LO's are to receive awards, well done them!
Frith you're sounding so much more at ease since Mr B, no need now for any fears and doubts the user next door instilled in you :)
Ooh CCP's been vandalising the office! Just came off in your hand indeed ;)
Chicken I empathise completely, those eight-legged things are about driving me insane. I only have to walk past a shrub and there's a cobweb on me, usually on my face :( I bought a childs fishing net but don't think I'd be brave enough catch an indoor one, it would run out and up the pole onto me before I got it to the door

Been a bit of a sad day, my lovely neighbours had their car stolen last night and it was found with quite a lot of damage to the front where it had hit a parked van. The silver lining, though somewhat tarnished, is they got it back and a friend of theirs may be able to repair it for them. What a pointless, vile thing to do to people who work for everything they have. I hope the Police catch the people who took it and they get their just deserts - although they're more likely to get a pat on the head and a holiday in Tenerife :mad::mad:

    1. Woke to a beautiful morning (apart from the above) so uncovered the patio set which I'd covered up for the winter and had breakfast outside. It was a bit chilly but nice to be able to take advantage just once more
    2. Planted up the hanging baskets, running out of places to hang them so hung two from the eucalyptus - it looks quite effective :o
    3. Sat outside and prepped the runners and chard, froze the chard stems which will be nice in casseroles, and steamed the leaves to go with a 1/2 gammon for lunch. It was delicious, and there's enough for tomorrow. Stems are frozen now so will pack them into their box and put the runners in the freeze tray overnight.
    4. Picked a few more tomatoes and raspberries
    5. Had yummy locally produced boiled eggs with hm soldiers for tea

More than ready for bed tonight, (((hugs))) and sweet dreams

eta Good luck for Sunday VJsmum!!!

    Friday's pleasures :)

    1. My dying washing machine let me do 3 loads before giving up for the day - I'm battling with it as I can't be doing with the repair man at this stage of the month!

    2. Cheapy shopping for the weekend in village shop rather than going to Te$co's and buy stuff I don't need....

    3. Scrummy dinner and salad with OH and DD

    4. Blowing DD's trumpet here - she was star of the day in her class, so apparently this means on Monday she'll get to sit on a special cushion all day :)and......she passed her dance exam. Clever sausage, love my girl and her delight in her achievements :)

    5. Took 2 bags of pre-loved goodies to the charity shop

    6. Managed to get a parking space when I did so! Phew!

    7. Arranged a couple of playdates for DD with some lovely mummy friends, so I get to natter whilst the girls run around :)

    8. DD and I picked up some scrumptious apples from the tree in the little park near her dance class

    9. Gave some of DD's grown out of toys to a friend

    10. Got all the bedding washed and dry, hoorah!

    11. Sold a book on Amazon, must post it later :)

    12. Big hugs from my favourite people, DD and OH. DD and I made wishes using her wand for friends and family when she went to bed. Soooo cute :)

Hello....not been on here for a couple of days....see if I can remember back to Thursday!

1.Had to scrape my car....but turned out to be a pleasant day!

2.Busy day at work but determinedly left on time!

3.Walking half way to school to pick up DD2, had a pleasant walk home and admired the gardens.

4.Went out with husband and new friend & her partner. We had a great night out in a very trendy bar (that probably ages me saying that!)

5.We were on soft drinks , so was a very cheap night! They wouldn't let us pay for their drinks as we had driven them there.....well OH did, I'm too scared to drive in the city!

    Friday:
1.Lovely morning, said hello to my ducks & moorhens as I walked from carpark. It is now getting light at 6am which is good!

2.Very quiet day at work, which was a welcome reprieve! Got on with things that needed doing & had a good laugh along the way!

3.Had house to myself for a while as DS was out on his bike, DD1 was on atrip to the city with school & DD2 was at a full day choir rehearsal............

4.Then madness reigned as all 3 of them were out for the night in 3 different directions! So we had to drop them all off , however, my lovely OH picked them all up at their different times!

5.We went to a new Thai restaraunt that has opened in our wee town, it was delicious & very reasonably priced!

    Today:

1.Up far too early, however, I managed to phone (all briefly as my phone credit was very low) my mum, sister, niece & friend before it ran out.

    2.Had a bath.

3.DD2 at another full day rehearsal (she is shattered) and OH took her there and I got on with some tidying up & list writing.I have so much to do this coming week.

4.Gorgeous day! Was 24o and got beds stripped & need to motivate myself to go iron & remake! Very breezy.

5.Very low spend at supermarket, less than half of what I normally spend as we are going home in 6 days!! Woohoo! Have enough in fridge/ freezer/cupboards to do us.

6.Popped into ginormous op-shop (supermarket like one) and got DD2 a pair of jeans which still had their original price tag on. And a nice big, stoneware storage jar.

7.Then had to go back to city to pick up DD2, still very warm outside but thunderstorms forecast for tonight.

    8. OH made spag bol for dinner. Using up loads of veggies that were needing used up!

    9. Friends are rallying round with promises of airbeds & z-beds for us when we return home! I have decided to have an 'open -house for a couple of hours for friends to pop in & say hello in a 2 hour period the first day we are home.

Hope you all have a good weekend.....need to visit my laundry room!
