Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

Thanks for everyone's get well wishes: yesterday's dizziness has gone completely, although it's now been replaced by a nasty cough that's been annoying my poor colleagues (and me) all day. :(

    1) Booked a couple of days off work next week to try and catch up with everything that needs doing at home. (My manager probably wouldn't have let me take the time as so many other people are off that week already, but as she's on holiday I asked her deputy instead, who tends to be much more generous about these things! ;))

    2) Phoned my gas supplier about the rather high bill I'd received, and was told that, although it may look high to me, it's still way under the average for the type of building I live in. :money: (One of the questions I was asked was what setting my radiators were on - he seemed very surprised when I said they weren't on at all and wouldn't be until October at the earliest!)

    3) I had to abandon the meal I had planned tonight (the main part was still a block of ice despite being in the fridge all day, and the accompanying bread has gone hard because I forgot to put it away after it had defrosted :o) but I've been able to throw something nice together out of bits and pieces in the fridge. :)

    4) Heard from my DM that my GM will be signing the contract to sell her house tomorrow, after months of delays and wranglings. :j

    5) There are four flowers on my last remaining courgette plant (the rest of the plants got slugged ), and another six buds waiting to open - I might get a decent crop yet. :)

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Thank you all for your kind wishes. The head pain has gone - used to it though due to neurosurgery.

CCP- sorry to hear that you are still poorly:( What is it about requesting annual leave ? I feel almost guilty requesting leave that I am entitled to take. Although the "usual" suspects always get their leave over Christmas , Easter etc!

Kittikins-oooh international roaming eh? Sounds like he can't be without you;)

    6 for today

1.Trusty old hairdryer was limping along and I noticed that the wiring had become exposed. Thought I was going to have to buy one but OH found one that I did not know that we had. It is the same wattage and "drives" the same. Not a feeble puff of air etc.

2.Postie delivered my outdoor clock first thing this morning. That was quick! It looks better than I thought it would.

    3. Had mushrooms from the garden for tea. Nearly heaved though when a woodlice came trundling out of one when I was chopping them up. Better then than on the plate though:)

    4. Bagged up some money from the loose change pot. This will be used for nice days /meals out. I have been saving 50p's since January 2010 for my brothers 50th birthday in a couple of years time as I would like to organise a barn dance for him or whatever he fancies really. This has reached over £110 so far. The rest of the family are trying to do the same but with less enthusiasm.

    5. Gave 8 eggs away to my Mum and sister.

    6. The rain has filled my up water butt ( sounds a bit explicit) which I had just drained.

Have a good evening everyone x

Aaaaah, love your no.5 nuttybabe :) and yup, I am feeling loved and lovely, Chickenopolis :) Hopefully the 10 days he's away (and then the sadly almost-inevitable couple of days of feeling tired and ill after travelling) will now just fly by :)

    Evening

Nuttybabe - just reading your posts has me exhausted. I don't know how you do it all.

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Catch up with friend J at lunch time
    2. Managing to get 2 christening presents for very little money today :money:
    3. Bread just out of the bread maker for tomorrows lunches
    4. Lots of apples stewed down ready to freeze and be used when needed
    5. FIL sent over a bag of pears from his garden. They are very hard so need to get some inspiration as what to do with them

Hugs to all who need them

I feel almost guilty requesting leave that I am entitled to take. Although the "usual" suspects always get their leave over Christmas , Easter etc!

I know what you mean. I have a certain colleague who always has Christmas off and feels that she is entitled to it because she has a child (and a husband). So I suggested last year that maybe it would be fairer if the people who worked the previous year had first dibs on this year... well.. apparently I was being unfair because I don't have kids therefore I should work over the christmas holidays! People are so selfish! The fact that I was just stirring is complete irrelevant...

    1) WFH this morning and got my washing and washing up done (and some work, work done inbetween!), Fresh sheets on the bed tonight!

    2) Banana an walnut bread for breakfast... no wonder I am getting a little chubby if I keep having breakfast cake!

    3) Walked to the office from Kings X and back (2 miles)

    4) Drinks with two nice colleagues after work... and a good gossip!

    5) Chat on BBM with a few friends.

Am a little annoyed with my friend L. Its her birthday in a couple of weeks time an she has arranged to do something the Saturday before it... anyway turns out she wants to do wine tasting (£23) and then go out for dinner (£30-£40)!!! She earns a absolute shedload and I think has forgotten that normal people don't spend that kind of money! I can't back out of it now but am annoyed she didn't tell me the plan before hand. I think I might have something to eat before th wine tasting so won't be hungry enough to have dinner!

Anyway... I need to get some snooze.

    L
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

CCP get rid of that cough now!
Tealady you could try ripening the pears in the mw on defrost, or grate them before cooking to turn into suet pudding, or mix with cooking apples for pies etc.
laloopi thanks for that, just looked up how to make liquid soap and it's so easy I have to give it a try

    1. Waited for the storm but we didn't even get a drop of rain overnight, eventually fell asleep and woke up at 10am :o. Even the pets didn't complain aout having a lie-in
    2. Had a good sort out of the meds drawer, will only need half the items on next months repeat. Just shows I don't have to take some of the 'as necessaries' so often these days :)
    3. Went to the library to change my books, admired the 20' square town quilt hanging up in there and had a long chat with one of the librarians who explained most of the sections and who had worked on them. It's amazing, don't know where people get their patience from to do things like that!
    4. Went to the CS and didn't buy anything :D
    5. Had an email from DS who hopes to visit for a few days either at the end of this month or next, with his DSS. Can't wait, it's ages since I've seen them :).

Night night, hugs and sleep tight

5 or so for today (Tuesday).

    1) Boys went to their father's for lunch so I gave the living room its final coat of paint. :j Really pleased with it now.

    2) Also had my hair cut while they were away. Much less like a toupee on the top now.

    3) Popped to dad's and had homemade asparagus soup for lunch.

    4) Boys came home and played really well although they were filthy by bedtime!

    5) Walked to the pub with my sister and the boys. Got a bit tangled up on a barbed wire fence on the walk home and have ripped my trousers and will assess the scratches to my leg when I have a bath just now. :(

    6) Went to a bat watch organised by the local council.

    7) Text and picture from MrB. :)

    8) Just put the curtains back up (after 5 weeks!) and am watching Holby City and will have a bath afterwards.
