Looks like being a good weekend...
I'm emptying the fridge for cleaning - it's full of alcohol so naturally I'm drinking it to save having to put it back...
Same principle as above applies to the food in the freezer...
Cat poo on the bed this morning - harsh words with Trevor the cat but she's now forgiven, and clean bedding awaits tonight!
Friends visiting tomorrow. House is clean (rare occurence) so no mad rush with the hoover before they arrive.
Had a great fox sitting on my lawn this evening. I feed them every night so I guess he was waiting for his dinner. Bread, cake and cat food has now been put outside for him.
Have a happy weekend!0 -
1. 'Spent' one of my 6p a litre off petrol vouchers, saved £2.07
2. Took a ring back which was no way the size in the ad, it would have fitted my thumb! Got £16 refund, looked around the shop and came out without having spent anything
3. Went to the tip with the load that had been in the car overnight, it was certainly whiffy! Went to the car wash afterwards, inside and out by hand cost £12. Also got a free air freshener and my card signed, 2 more washes and the next one is free :j
4. Todays trip meant I came home £6 up :T
5. Sat ouside to have lunch, was a bit chilly but I'm determined to get the use from the new patio furnitue before it has to go away for the winter
Night night, sleep tight

He he - sadly I did take 2 chocolate puddings home and not MrB. :rotfl:But we were distracted after the main course while I was over there and didn't have time to eat them.
MrB has now gone on holiday for a week with his children and I'm missing his texts and FB chats more than I can say.
Getting driven mad here by 2 sons and a friend staying for a sleepover. Smaller son has been talking to me non stop for 16 hours (yes, I stopped to calculate it!) I've gone into denial now and am in bed and if they want to talk downstairs all night, I can barely hear them so that's fine... Great parenting there.
Anyway, 5 for today!
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Went to B and Q for some paint for the new living room and had fun towing sons round on one of the massive trolleys.
3) Went to Sainsburys so have something sensible to eat now!
4) Went to the local motor racing hill climb (free on my parent's tickets - very OS).
5) Given 2 punnets of strawberries by a local lady as her family own a fruit farm and had some "seconds".
6) Took sons and sleepover friend down to my parent's and they checked for eggs, talked to the pigs and went bracken sledging.
7) Nice tea of roast chicken, chips (not knowing what sleepover boy would like) and carrots. Followed by the free strawberries and the now infamous MrB puddings. :j
8) Bit sad from MrB radio silence (he's in the middle of nowhere with even worse phone reception than here) so took the opportunity to paint the kitchen ceiling. Vile job as it's an ancient lath and plaster ceiling, too lumpy to use a roller and there are 9 beams to paint round and the ends of the living room beams poking through the wall as well to negotiate. Still, have done half of it and it looks much cleaner.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.0 -
Hmmm Chickenopolis, we might not be too far away from each other, lots of spare eggs, I've been given 3 scrummy looking courgettes that are just begging to be made into cake
Frith - I feel your pain re: phone reception.......OH is going away on Wednesday for 10 days abroad and doesn't have international roaming on his phone!!Given that we text/speak/email 10+ times a day, from that to zilch is going to be strange to say the least. Also, DD is going to be away (but thankfully contactable) for 5 of those days so I really will have to keep myself occupied to stop me going insane!
Anyway, on a happier note, my Saturday's thrills:
1. I was hugely impressed with DD's precis of 2 books that she talked about with a friendly librarian as part of the summer reading challenge. She's taken away 2 massive books for this week to read and inwardly digest (and then return and be given more stickers and goodies!)
2. Park and ride was very well organised for the football match
3. My boss' sons who sat next to me were lovely and didn't mind answering my probably quite daft questions before the match about football-related matters
4. The football was really interesting - I never thought I'd say that!! DD was so excited and really got into the spirit of it all. I'm sure we'd go again if the opportunity of free tickets came our way, but there's now ay I'm getting her a shirt; a flag, maybe....
5. The sunshine
6. OH took us to a lovely pub in the back of beyond this evening where DD made 'friends for life' with a couple of cute dogs and a few random lovely people who were sitting outside on tables near us
7. OH's lovely friends came and joined us for a drink, first time I'd met them, having heard loads about them, they were very nice, hope they liked me too!
8. Scrummy and not remotely OS Chinese dinner, in my defence by the time we got to the place which was on our way home, it was 9pm and poor DD was wasting away......
9. Watching the end of the Proms on TV whilst snuggled up with OH
10. OH's mummy gave me the afore-mentioned courgettes and some fresh pasta. I feel a lasagne (and a cake) coming on later0 -
Had a good day
1. DS2 came home - with lots of wet, smelly washing bit he had completed his walk but had walked 14 hours on Friday up and down 6 peaks in the Lake District. He was tired but pleased with himself.
2. Washing done and on line drying as quickly as possible.
3. Not ms but take away for tea as DS2 wanted one and to celebraye his AS results and finishing his walk.
4. Sorted out cupboards in the kitchen and found lots of stuff for DS1 to take to his new house at Uni. Helps me clear out.
5. Lovely walk with my dog and chatting with some friends.0 -
Hi Everyone...
You all seem to be very perky this weekend which is lovely to hear/read.
Chicken - I'd love to trade you some eggs for cake/jam/chutney/courgettes/potatoes but unfortunately I live nowhere near you I don't thinkI'm in Sunny Bedfordshire. Lol at "you're place or mine".
Frith - glad you enjoyed your... err... pudding. Obviously I am referring to the chocolate ones.
Kittikins - am sure your OH's friends adored you. And are you really sure you enjoyed the football?
Keith - Bad Trevor! I don't mean to be bossy... but are you sure you should be feeding the foxes?
Sparrer - Well done on "making" £6. Hope you managed to get some use out of your new patio furniture.
hoo - your number 5 seems a little bittersweet. Sorry to hear your dad is struggling.
Newlywed - hope you enjoyed the twinks.
Nuttybabe - thank you for pointing out the free listing weekend on auction site. How is the wallpaper stripping going today?
CCP - can't blame you for objecting to Kylie!:p Glad you got a chance to have a lie in. Well done on doing your tomato plants... I am so bad at remembering to do that!
Brooomstick - WD on retaining your cool when dealing with your DS.
Wilding - wow - your life sounds very idyllic! Wish I could have tried your mussels last night... for quality control purposes obviously!
Laloopi - what are Anzac biscuits? Glad you like our little community.
Villagelife - yum yum at the Eton mess... one of my favourites!
1) Drove my car down to London, with the top down
2) Popped in to see my DS and FSIL to drop off the (courgette) cake. My FSIL had also made one, but hers was a normal one with lime icing which was yum! They had a friend visiting from Berlin so it was also nice to see him.
3) Then went to a school friend's baby shower. I didn't know anyone else there but it was nice.
4) After the baby shower I then went to a friend's birthday BBQ. I ate rather a lot of BBQed halloumi... yum!
5) I was very well behaved and retired to bed at a reasonable hour... so no hangover today!:T
Have a great day

Evening all.
Ladyhawk - I'm rather envious of you having a convertible car on days like today - you lucky bunny! Can I ask what kind of car you went for in the end?
Kittikins / Chickenopolis - depending whereabouts you are, I could be fairly close to you both as well - Portsmouth's only just over the border into Hampshire, after all.
Frith - I'm glad you had such a nice time with MrB before he went off on holiday.
keith - I'm with you on the foxes - I just love them.I saw a mother and cub on the way home from the pub quiz last Sunday and couldn't resist stopping to watch them even though it was rather late for me on a school night.
Chickenopolis - I did consider shouting over the wall to my neighbours that they could at least play some decent music if they were going to keep the neighbourhood awake until the early hours.I could just about put up with Kylie, but I buried myself under the duvet when they started singing along to old S Club 7 songs!
Laloopi - mmm, Anzac biscuits! I hadn't tried them until someone made them for a work cake sale last year, and I was instantly sorry that I'd missed out for so long!
I've had a busy day today, catching up on all sorts of things that needed doing:
1) Did two lots of washing and got them out on the line in the sunshine, emptied the kitchen bin, washed the kitchen floor, painted some more test patches on my bathroom wall (I still can't decide what colour to paint the bathroom - I'm torn between 'almond' and 'ivory' at the moment :undecided), cut back the brambles which were invading my garden from next door, and wrote some recipes for a charity cookbook I'm meant to be contributing to. Phew!
2) Watched two biplanes fly over, presumably on their way to the Bournemouth air show. (And wasn't it sad about the Red Arrow pilot?)
3) Podded a large bag of peas I got RTC on Friday - I enjoy podding them almost more than I enjoy eating them, TBH.
4) Had a nice chat to my DM on the phone - she needed to vent about an argument she'd had with her DM (who's not so 'D' at the moment, I get the impression!).
5) Pub quiz tonight, so I can collapse with a well-earned cider after being so busy today.
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
Ladyhawk - Got lots done, thanks and even found the old door way (still with frame) from living room to kitchen  I used to have a bright yellow MR2 T top, i really miss it on nice days so dead jealous of you
Mine for today
1. All holiday washing finally done!
2. Did loads of wallpaper stripping.
3. Had to pop over to diy boards again and have been told what we need to do is easy - another huge sigh of relief!

5. Kids having an early night so a nice quiet evening in front of come dine with me on catch up not moving!!!!0 -
Evening Ladies and Gent,
I am back to do my pleasures from today.
CCP - I bought a Eos, so it looks smart with the top up or down.
Nuttybabe - You found a door you weren't aware of?
1) Nice nap this afternoon with the kitty cat.
2) Pottered around the garden, cut the lawn, did a little weeding, did a little planting.
3) Chatted with my DM on skype.
4) Made courgette soup. I am now courgette free :j at least until I pick the next crop
5) Picked some sunflowers from the garden which are so cheerful.
6) Am in the process of making redcurrent jelly/jam (I haven't decided which yet)
Nighty night and have a great week.
