Good evening all
Carolyntia-well done you:beer: and being cheeky does pay off sometimes;) well most of the time I reckon.
Reverbe - so glad you were o.k last night, I hope you managed to get some sleep?
5 for today
1.Received item from eba* that I purchased yesterday. That was a very swift service.Free sample of face cream enclosed so I will use on the "turkey skin" on my neck!
2.Teeny tiny courgettes from garden .
3.Made a very hot Biryani -OH's head nearly exploded . Personally I am not affected by spicy food :DAlso found a Peshwari Naan in the freezer that was not eaten when we had a take away ages ago- It was lovely.
4.Village SOS
5.Television again !Who do you think you are - June Brown and her Jewish roots. My grandad was an East End Jew but he was a bit of an enigma and would not discuss his "past" or acknowledge his ancestry. This will spur me on to find out a bit more about him.
Hope eveyone has a quiet evening x
P.S - I am feeling a bit left out re Australia ! My great grandfather was Australian does that count a teeny bit?? The beer advert says it does;):AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

Pleasures for today,
1. DD's bed stripped down and bedding washed and line dried
2. Lunch with a friend
3. Tasty but easy dinner
4. Few RTC bargains in Waitrose
5. Chat with DD on the phone. It's funny to hear her picking up a northern accent0 -
:T Carolyntia :T. Good for you asking for what you wanted, and for the company agreeing to it - sensible of them not to argue!
. Looking forward to you posting a pic of you in your new uniform!
Ladyhawk the date is tomorrow (Thursday) evening, but thinking of crying off, not sure if it's right for me. I always get cold feet and cancel at the last minute. We'll see
CCP thank you, DSis is okay and a friend has agreed to move in while she's away. Fingers x'd it seems to be quieter there tonight, hopefully the flames of hysteria are blowing themselves out now the local residents are showing their strength
VJsmum nectarine jam sounds yummy, it's my current favourite fruit
1. Lovely sunny morning, got the lawn mowed before I went out
2. Had my nails done, my once a month treat to myself cos I don't smoke/drink/go pubbing etc.
3. Went to M@talan to change some clothing DM bought when she was here, got what she wanted and bought myself a white top for £1!
4. YS rhubarb with lf ice cream for pudding, got a big bunch for 25p, most of it in the freezer now
5. Started collecting my Winter box together, plenty of candles, batteries for the torches etc, next to do is the Winter car box. Not really a pleasure as I don't like Winter but satisfying to know they're almost done
6. Got 6 lavender plants rtc for £1.99 each! The last few in the garden centre, they were £4.99 and look very healthy

5 or so for today (Weds).
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Cleaned! Managed to do the porch (which we use as a shed), the boys' room, changed their beds and the bathroom.
3) Took stuff to the tip.
4) Got the boys some new slippers that they are very pleased with.
5) Went to brother's to feed his pigs.
6) Just had a conversation over the computer with MrB. :-) We've met in 2 pubs so on Friday the boys are staying with my sister and he's coming here for dinner. :-)0 -
Oh dear, I stayed up late catching up on news on iplayer and now I can't sleep but then I remembered I hadn't posted on here so here's my five for Wednesday:
1. Weighing myself and discovering that my feeling thinner wasn't imaginary and I've lost 8lb in the last couple of weeks - mostly water I'm sure (because of quitting wheat), but I don't really care what it was because 8lb is quite a lot of anything not to be carting around.:D
2. Doing DS2's washing (3 loads of backlog) while he was out all day, getting it line dried and ironed.
3. Making a decision to go to IKEA on Friday. (It's a very planned shop that I've been waiting to do for a while - definitely not spontaneous - so I think I can include it here.)
4. Listening to a very thought provoking programme on Radio 4 this evening about the parallels between competitive organised sport and war. Good brain food!
5. DS1 coming home with some (wheat free) oatcakes which my body seems to tolerate OK and as I was starving that was very welcome.
Sweet dreams

1. A lovely walk this morning with a blue sky with small white fluffy clouds and the mist over the river.
2. Took lunch into work.
3. Managed to reduce my non urgent to do pile.
4. Had a good chat with DH and DS2
5. Washing done on economy 70 -
Sparrer - oh I do hope you go on your date, it's a good excuse for an evening out (that's the way I always looked at it) and if he turns out to be the man of your dreams - fantastic, or he could be an amazing friend, or at worst, someone to chuckle to yourself about when you realise he's completely the opposite of who you'd like in your life!0
-
Sparrer- You never know - the chap you are meeting tonight might also be feeling the same ? Its scary meeting new people but you might end up having a really good time- nothing ventured and all that.
However I think he will be missing out too -you as your posts reflect that you seem to have a wicked personality and would be a lot of fun to be around, I suspect.;):AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Hi all
Just wanted to pop in to express some gratitude about my life. I am glad to read that you are all safe and well and that there are good news (well done Carolyntia!) and exciting possibilities (good luck, Sparrer!).
Here are my pleasures for the last few days:
1 - A twisted one but real biggy: the other day I had an argument with DH, one of those massive 48-hour ones but following a less than pleasant event with a friend of mine (who was not what I'd call compassionate when I shared my troubles with her) I reflected that after all DH is not all that bad, compared to some, so I arranged to go to lunch with him on neutral ground and we talked peacefully and resolved the issue. Of course it is an ongoing job (to keep peace between two people as different as us) but we made a commitment to continue working at it. Love and peace restored.
2 - Friends, family and myself not harmed by these terrible events of last few days.
3 - Following all these troubles and panic-shopping in the local area, which left the shelves pretty much empty, I am glad to find myself with my OS supplies and veg from garden and allotment. Did not need to do a shopping for all the days that we were surrounded by the troubles.
4 - Following on pleasure no. 3, made a big stock-up shop via Approved Food. Pasta, beans, flour, staples that would keep us going for a while if there is another emergency.
5 - Lots of help on the allotment from friends of DD's.
6 - We have a long-ish term guest. DH's cousin, he is a lovely person and also very unobtrusive, leaves early and only comes back late for dinner but he is good company and I am glad to be able to give him a bit of a family life (he is long-term separated from his wife and the kids have grown up).
Hope all is well with all of you, see you around again some other time! xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My accent is Scottish of course...mostly understood out here but I have two clients I order from and they just cannot understand me.....much frustration on both sides. However, there are lots of very different words & expressions used . I quite often say something that means something totally different here! Cue much laughter from colleagues!
Nice to 'see' you here Caterina.
Sparrer take your lovely nails on a date! go on!
carolyntia: well done on your job!
CCP: finger nail much better today, thankyou! Got a teeny tiny bruise under my nail but the very slim, sharp blade went right through!:(
Broomstick : well done on your weight loss! I lost 2 1/2 stone however, since moving here my weight has upped & down by 1/2 stone....I would love to lose 8 lbs before coming home in 6 weeks!
Well ! I had a word with my manager this morning & burst into PMT tears! He has been a bit snappy with me all week & I decided I wasn't going to have another day off it. So spoke first thing, he said it wasn't anything personal & he is feeling stressed! Anyway, got that off my chest (could have done without the tears though!) and went on to have a better day than the previous 3. I have really enjoyed my work , happy to increase my hours so didn't like feeling miserable!
1.Coming home! Sun was shining, magnolia trees, cherry blossom all in bloom, daffodils flowering & oooooh Spring must just be round the corner.
2.Took kids out for their tea at next towns mall. The view from the top floor of multi story carpark over surrounding countryside is stunning.
3.We came home & shared the housework! DD1 tidied kitchen, DS did dishes & put bins out & DD2 tidied living room. I did big ironing & more washing.
4.Hot date with my husband! We went out for dinner , good to make the time alone to catch up.
5.Went into supermarket on way home & got 3 loaves of bread for 1/2 price & reduced (not by much) chicken for freezer.
Have a good Thursday. I hope everyone stays safe & that things are getting better in UK.0
