Ooooh Sparrer, if I wasn't already loved up, I'd be batting my eyelashes at your date, love a good Welsh accent xx OH was born in Wales but has the most upper crust English received pronunciation accent ever, bless him
1. Lovely chats with DD on the phone
2. Finally ordered the cast iron handrail for outside my front door, can't wait to get it made and installed and feel safer on bad weather/body days. Even better, DM is paying for it, lovely mummikins
3. A blacksmith popped in to look at DD's broken bed and reckons he can fix it for about £20! Much less than I was dreading
4. A tree surgeon also popped in (it was like Picadilly Circus at my house this afternoon!) and is going to send me a quote to sympathetically thin out a huge tree that is shading a huge part of my garden. Sounds like he'll be cheaper than I was dreading too!
5. Have booked to have my chimneys swept later in the week
6. DD will be coming home for the weekend rather than me go up thereI'll probably drop her back on Sunday, but sneakily, it will mean that I can go out with OH on Thursday to the theatre once I get a babysitter organised, yippee!!
7. University Challenge
8. Seeing OH tomorrow as sadly he's feeling bit under the weather today, but hey, tomorrow's not long away
9. A lovely lovely friend has finally had a very well-deserved promotion at work, so I think I shall make her a carrot cake to celebrate0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. £3 Luncheon Voucher in the post today from a survey
2. Free bottle of This Water from Waitrose
3. As had house to myself when got home had a quick blitz got quite a few jobs done.
4. Lovely HM Chilli for dinner
5. Empty washing basket0 -
Tuesday here & just heading out to work! Fell asleep on sofa last night! Before dragging myself to bed. My whole day was out of sorts, OH had to get up at 4am to catch a flight, then I dozed off again then woke feeling bleurgh! Had to take DD2 to school so was later in at work than usual but still had all the stuff to do, so felt behind all day.
So here goes, see if I can rescue some pleasures:
1.Quick chat to my mum between carpark & work.
2.Seeing bright pink birds in trees........not real ones though, it was part of an art display! Brightened up ,bare winter trees!
3.Home! Driving back & managed to collect 3 children along the way in various states of bedraggledness as it was seriously raining!
4.OH getting an earlier flight home. Had an earlier dinner than usual. lasagne made the day before, mashed potatoes, sprouts & broccoli. I love sprouts & had forgotten they were in the fridge from a RTC purchase last week!
5.DD1 made choc cookies, very moreish whilst still warm. I had made a lemon drizzle cake.
6.I must have sle[t for 10 hours last night........obviously needing it!
Right had better go & earn some more money, put my best smile on & have a better day!
Night to everyone!0 -
Evening all
Chicken - You're a little devil...put that spoon away
Frith - As long as yours isn't called Adrian I don't think we've got much to worry about
1) Tried to ring the HR woman this afternoon - didn't want to seem too keen - unfortunately I couldn't get hold of her - will try again tomorrow
2) Very quiet day in the office
3) Clearing out the car - swapping it for something else tomorrow
4) Nice bit of on offer steak for dinner
5) Another bottle of reduced cider to wash down dinner
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
What is it about the Welsh accent that we all seem to like so much?
Kittikins he - I'll call him Mr M - left Wales some years ago but still has the accent, I'm a Londoner but have been told I speak either with a plum or with a South African accent! How confusing
Ladyhawk you go for it, at the very least you could make a new friend. And for me it's a good excuse to get dressed up, it gets me out of trousers and tees!
Carolyntia I'm with your Mum. Can just imagine you coming out of a spin wearing satin
1. Went to pulm rehab but the class was cancelled today, so called in on DD to find DSiL and DGD2 both there too. Love it when I get to see all the family
2. Made an appt for my nails to be done on Weds, the girl at the salon said they have a special offer this week of 20% off :j
3. Text from a friend, who then came over for tea and stayed 3 hours
4. Had my first ever home grown plum, to be honest they're not quite ripe but it was delish. Then found a solitary loganberry so had that too. Still picking blackberries, and the Autumn fruiting raspberries are ripening nicely. Quite pleased with my growing efforts, they're not staple foods but it's nice to have treats which I'd think twice about buying in the shops
5. Had notice today that my elec is going up by 11% and gas by 14% in Sept . These people ought to be ashamed of themselves. The pleasure is that thanks to MSE I can spend tomorrow checking for a slightly cheaper robber to give my business to
Night night, hugs and sweet dreams,

I can manage a Welsh accent, living about 20 miles from the border, and bigger son has the most Welsh first name and surname you could possibly imagine! I think my normal accent is more The Archers though.
Chickenopolis - that made me laugh about the mouse leaving. Like the rats leaving a sinking ship. (I wouldn't like MrN's ship to sink altogether mind you, but water lapping dangerously close to the deck might give him something to think about!)
Anyway, 5 or so for today (Monday) - a particularly fine day......:D
1) Bit of a lie in as the builders were running late (yes, it's been 3 weeks that we have been living basically in my bedroom....)
2) Both boys went to play with their friends (another set of brothers!) so I was child free from 10-3.
3) Grouting nearly finished which leaves a couple of hours work on that tomorrow, skirting boards fixing, new porch window - then it'll all be over!
4) Managed to get both sons to have their hair cut. Not nearly enough but they can see where they're going now. Bigger son had a cm off (so can still nearly tie his hair back) and smaller son asked for all the curls to be chopped off so his is very short.
5) Boys were overjoyed to find my brother was going to babysit them. I don't think he has ever looked after them for an evening before but they played on the Wii and darts with him and he looked happy enough when I got in.
6) Went on date number 2 with MrB (who is not called Adrian). Erm... it all went remarkably well to the point that there is now not really a question of will we be seeing each other again, more "When are your children away/when are mine away?":D:D I'm just shocked it can be so straightforward after the pratting round I've been putting up with over the last 12 months.
7) Off to bed now to listen to the radio on iplayer.0 -
Here are my five for a couple of days
1. DH given some tomatoes and runner beans - tomatoes are lovely.
2. Made an easy cheap tea with lamb mince and chickpeas. Rest of family quite enjoyed it.
3. A chat with a friend while walking my dog.
4. DS1 and DS2 managed to spend a day at home without electrity for 5 hours without arguing.
5. Biscuits at work.0 -
Frith - woohoo0

Hi all - i work near to a scene of one set of riots, so am wondering whether to actually go in. Especially as i could work from home.
Anyway mine for yesterday
1. Tax rebate - only £50 but still, it's a rebate and i've never had one before (that's going into my "secret account")
2. Daughter going back on the acne pills - nothing else works so i am glad the consultant has agreed. There is enough to deal with when you are 15 and shocking acne doesn't help
3. Whoopsied sausages and home grown spuds, mashed, for tea
4. Hugh's fish fight.
5. Buying a whole week's food in Aldi for less than £60.
Have a good day all and stay safe.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
