    Morning all.

Very late pleasures from me as these are mine from yesterday:

    1) Hearing from my DM that my sister has accepted that she's not well again and needs to go back on anti-depressants. Obviously it's not a pleasure that she's unwell but, now she's accepted it, she can start getting better. (And it makes some sense of her obnoxious behaviour while she was staying with me - it's a minor reassurance to know that it wasn't personal.)

    2) My work watch broke last week so I've been looking for a new one, and was very pleased to find one for under a tenner in a sale. :money:

    3) I've been keeping an eye out for calamari since Reverbe mentioned it a few weeks ago, so I was very pleased to find some RTC in M&S, even if it did mean I had to make a minor change to my meal plan for last night. :o

    4) I had an appraisal at work which proved less painful / dull than expected, and I've been promised that I can go to a conference the next time a useful one turns up. Obviously my mournful observation that I've only been allowed out twice since I joined the company has been noted! ;)

    5) I'm not sure if this is really one for yesterday or today, but - the mog slept through the night last night, rather than repeatedly waking me up to be an audience to his feline karaoke as he did on Sunday night. (He's going deaf and can't judge the volume of his own voice - sadly I can!)

Reverbe - well done on your 'super-Reverbe' of £5 - the money's obviously been saving itself up for you. ;)

VJsmum - be careful and stay safe - that goes for anyone else in affected areas too, obviously.

sparrer - I'm south London / Surrey but my accent is always being mistaken for Aussie - very strange! I'm more than happy to join the Welsh accent admiration club - one of the contractors I work with has a Welsh accent and I melt whenever he phones me. :o

Have a good day, all, and stay safe wherever you are!
Back after a very long break!

    Hi Ladies and Gent,

May I join the Welsh accent appreciation club? *Ladyhawk goes weak at the knees*

I also have a confused accent... but then I am foreign so it can only be expected that it gets queried... though not as often as one would suspect.

My poor colleague who is recovering from breast cancer has had yet another problem. This time last year her husband was rushed to hospital with meningitis, then within weeks she was diagnosed with the cancer, and now her daughter has been rushed into hospital with appendicitis. :( The daughter was working with me yesterday for work experience... I don't think it is related...

    1) All my friends and family seem to have escaped the riots so far. My SIL's parents had to stay with my SIL and DB last night as they live just off Peckham High Street.

    2) Courgette cake fo breakfast

    3) Popped into to see a charity that I do lots of work with on the way home and they gave me a bag of their toy mascots... I suggested they make some for promotional purposes and finally they arrived this week! :) They are cute!

    4) Sunny evening

    5) Cake for supper

    Nighty night... stay safe!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

VJsmum-I hope that you stayed safe today.

Ladyhawk- its lucky that you like courgettes.

Frith-I am really happy for you ! Its nice to hear that things sound nice and straightforward with Mr B :)

Sparrer- Re that "other" thread . Boy she was taking chunks out of people! I still think its a wind up- you were great by the way;).

Weird day- Unsettling to say the least. Have been glued to the news for most of the day as it beggars belief . I was and am concerned about Reverbe as she was frightened as she had been told that the riots were going to happen in her neck of the woods at 4pm. Reverbe has posted since and "touch wood" nothing had kicked off. Sending ((hugs)) to her and all who need them.

My sister was told to send all of her clients home from a Mental Health Day Centre due to the above and she scooped up my neice and her baby to stay with her( due to the above)even though they "aren't talking".They are now though:)

    Not quite 5 for today

1.The amount of people sending Reverbe and others in riot localities kind thoughts and good advice.

2.A buy it now Cli***** product on eb** that I use for less than a third of the price.

3.Had Barker the dog this morning whilst Mum went out she is great company.

    4. My friend at work who sits next to me sending me funny photos of a toy chicken that sits on my desk with various handcrafted hats, hoods they had made on it .I had told them that I had installed a camera in it so they had better watch out.

Thats all folks !! Hope everyone stays safe xx

Evening all. I hope everyone's safe and continues to be safe.

    1) Finding out that the clouds of black smoke pouring into the sky yards from my flat were from a fire in a derelict building and nothing more sinister / dangerous. I admit it unnerved me a bit, what with all the trouble elsewhere!

    2) Being able to come on here and find out that Reverbe and others in similar situations are currently safe and well.

    3) Got to the supermarket just as they had a major outbreak of yellow stickies - for once I got some really good bargains, including some posh croissants which were reduced to 60p: that's breakfast sorted for the next couple of days. :D

    4) Cheese, tomato and salad cream sarnie for lunch - a summery favourite I never get tired of.

    5) I finally received the cafetiere I'd ordered with some survey points, after waiting nearly 6 weeks for it. I thought it was an excuse when they said the courier couldn't find my flat but he rather sheepishly admitted that he'd got the building numbers muddled up and had been trying to deliver next door by mistake. :rotfl:

Have a good evening, all, and STAY SAFE!

    Hi all,

Sending hugs and thoughts to all those near the riots, hope everyone stays safe. It's going to be hard to think of 5 pleasures, everything seems a bit bleak at the moment. But here goes.

    1. Drinking my lovely homemade lemon cordial
    2. Eating apples straight off my tree
    3. Tofu and udon noodle stirfry for dinner with homegrown pak choi. I've been flirting with the idea of going veggie and meals like this help convince me
    4. Chat and coffee with my friend
    5. Trip to Mr A by myself - I hardly every go to supermarkets nowadays and even more rarely all alone, so I actually enjoyed myself! And a nice chat with the lovely young girl on the check out.

    That wasn't so difficult :-).
Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!

chicken it was an 'interesting' thread, but hope it's over now :p

My sister is in Enfield, just moved out of central London to get away from any trouble. She was leaving her allotment on her bike. having got some veg for dinner, when a mob of about 30/40 came running in her direction. She was terrified, said for a split second she thought the worst :(. Thank God a Police helicopter flew down really low and the mob ran in a different direction. She's due to go on holiday at the weekend but is frightened for her home if she leaves it empty. I'm so angry, what a terrible, terrible thing these morons are putting thousands of innocent people through

I'll try to find 5, if I can calm down!
    1. My sister is safely at home
2 I live in a peaceful backwater where the worst crime is someone double parking
    3. A sunny day
That's all I can think of for now

    Stay safe, sleep well
    S x

eta 4. Reverbe is safe too x

Horrible news about the riots and I just can't believe there is now trouble in Kidderminster, where I go to Sainsburys! Why there, for goodness sake? But then - why anywhere?

    5 or so for today...

    1) Builders have now done everything except the last bit of grouting. The end is in sight!

    2) Several lovely emails from MrB. :-) Again, can only stress none of the shenanigans, the will he/won't he rubbish I had from MrN...

    3) Went into town to get the builder's money and the boys were in raptures when let loose in the model shop. I can't see the fun in looking at hundreds of boxes of Airfix myself but they were begging to be taken in again!

    4) Had a nice walk in the forest then went up by the Clee Hills for chips.

    5) Tidied the garden, watered it well and cleaned the patio.

    6) Just read another chapter of Harry Potter (very late in getting them to bed tonight) - final chapter tomorrow. :-)
