I have managed to stain and treat the shed, rose seated arbour and bird table without spending a single penny - the stain was already bought previously and there was a good tub left over, and the stain was the same as well, I had to dig about in the garage but found it, a good shake of the tubs and off I went.

Tonights evening meal was jacket potatoes, cheese and coleslaw, which was easy as after doing all the sanding, tidying out the shed and varnishing of the arbour and bird table I really could not be bothered to cook so that was a nourishing meal without too much input from me. My winter preparation is slowing coming together! :D

There are loads of blackberries and damsons about at the moment. Get gathering for free :D
Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money :D

5 or so for today (Saturday).

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Made us a cooked breakfast.

    3) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    4) Spent a busy afternoon cleaning up after the builders and it does look better in here now. Cleaned all the beams in the living room (all spattered with plaster) - that took over an hour!

    5) Spent far too long wondering whether I should text MrB - don't want to seem too pushy. I did in the end and got a lovely text back. I don't half waste some time pondering on things like that!

    6) Read sons another chapter of Harry Potter.

    Evening Chaps!

Lucky escape for you all this morning as I lost a very philasophical post about sibling relationships! I'm an only child too Molly, and I am fascinated by my childrens relationships. They don't realise how lucky they are!

CCP - DD is a synchro swimmer. She won't get in to the GB team, but it's fab that she has been invited to trial :D

Hens are called Bumble and Gwen. Stroganoff could be a contender though! :rotfl:

    5 for Friday

    1. Ironing basket empty.

    2. Quick shopping trip to town with DD for the last hour. We didn't fall out!

    3. Cup of tea while watching the bonfire in the brazier.

    4. DS1 was the victim of a robbery. He had his phone and bus pass taken, but he was OK. :o The pleasure? The Police were wonderful and took it very seriously.

    5. Watching Torchwood. Captain Jack! ;)

    5 for Saturday

    1. Got up early and dyed hair. Only dye left was BLONDE.

    2. Cleaned half the bathroom while waiting for the dye to develop.

    3. Started packing for our hols. Sorted DS2's clothes and rationalised his draws and wardrobe at the same time. Will be Ebaying his castoffs for weeks when we get back!!

    4. DS1 cleaned the car. Managed to do it very well and with a good heart for a change! :)

    5. Bebotee for tea. (Using up bread before we go on hols). Nice and simple.

Hope you have all had a good day. :A HE x

Carolyntia hold out for the figure you want! (within reason ;))
house elf how horrible for your poor son, thank goodness the Police were good about it.

    1. Spent the day doing one of my favourite things, cooking for others. Having friends to lunch tomorrow and think I've managed to put together a reasonably low fat, low carb, gluten/wheat free meal.
    2. Made a tiny portion of my version of Eton Mess to make sure it tastes okay ;). Used hm meringue, hg blackberries and raspberries, and mixed 1/2 ff yogurt with 1/2 whipped cream so it's not too rich. Think I'll call it Sh****** Shamble, after my little town :D
    3. Mowed the lawn, dead-headed what needed it and gave the garden a good soaking this evening as we've had no rain for three days :)
    4. At long last there are fruits just showing on the loganberry. Still no strawberries though, but can't have everything in year 1 :(
    5. I have a date next week :o. Arranging to to meet a new friend for coffee on Thurs

    Night night, sweet dreams

This thread is excellent at making me appreciate the good things in life, like...

    1. A really kind pm from someone on this thread. Aren't people nice (well, most!)

    2. Two old lawn mowers collected by someone via Freecycle - excellent, because it saves me taking them to the dump.

    3. I found the cause of the flies - a maggoty dead mouse under the settee (a present from Trevor, my cat...)

    4. Five hours spent gardening - now there are no weeds anywhere. Looking forward to planting some cheap auction purchases tomorrow.

    5. A free bottle of wine chilling in the fridge for tomorrow evening (it's Yellowtail, on a 'try me free' promotion - details on the TMF thread).

Hope you're all having a great weekend.

Carolyntia - woohoo on the job and good luck with the negotiations :)

Sparrer - cooooooooooo, a date, tell us more ;):)

Frith - really glad you plucked up the courage to text MrB :)

Rainydays - thanks for the reminder re: blackberries and damsons......DD, a friend of hers and I went berry picking the other evening, and they ate them all as we walked around, but as DD's off for a few days, I may have a chance to get out to pick some for alcoholic purposes - don't eat jam, DD won't eat crumble (the silly girl!!) and so what's a girl to do but make blackberry vodka?!?!?! :)

I can't sleep and have remembered more pleasures, so what better thing for me to do at nearly 4am than write them down?!?

    1. Unexpectedly received LV from a survey I thought was just an information gathering rather than a paid one, so that was a lovely surprising pleasure :)
    2. My friend who was over on Friday night, OH and I tipsily discussed the idea of clearing up my back garden and planting lots of fruit and veg and sharing the goodies. I was saying that I'm not physically strong enough to do much and am very wet behind the ears when it comes to anything gardening-related :( but have always dreamed of growing more veggies; so hopefully, together, we will be a dream team. She has an 'allotment' at her flats that is basically a raised bed the size of a few sheets of paper stuck together, so is tickled pink at the thought of being able to do some real gardening :):) A win-win situation I hope!
    3. OH's mummy gave us strawberries on Friday and meringues yesterday, what a lovely lady
    4. She also passed on various magazines that OH's sister buys, reads and passes on to her. I'm getting a few every week, amazing how some people like to waste their money on these things, but I'm flicking through and then passing on to another friend, so keeping things old style :)
    5. OH and DD had a chippy dinner paid for by OH - and DD's child portion came with a drink, but as she doesn't like fizzy pop or squash, I got to choose myself a can of pop :) As I was full from my lunch, I just picked at OH's........goodness, that man is lovely, I've never asked if I can help myself, just do and he has told me he doesn't find it irritating at all :)
    6. Managed to pack for DD's time away at my parents in about 5 minutes flat - there are some benefits to having overflowing baskets full of clean clothes rather than trying to pack them away in her too-small chest of drawers I guess!!
    7. Looking forward to my papa coming to pick DD up tomorrow; not that I'm looking forward to her going away, but more that I hope it won't be raining and that he might mow my lawn.........tee hee!
    8. Texted my old neighbour who is renting out her house and asked if she wanted the wood when I get round to having some branches trimmed back that are overhanging my garden. It's a lovely oak tree but has grown so much in the time I've lived here and is now getting itself attached to my plants/fence! She doesn't want the resulting wood, so need to find out how long you need to dry it out before it's good to burn, for either me or another friend :)
    9. Yesterday was a reasonably low spend day, but I need to have some more NSDs whilst DD's away or else I won't have any money left way before the end of the month!

Blimey, that was a lot more pleasures wasn't it?!?! What a happy Kittikins I am :)

    Back again :)

    1. Slept really well when I eventually went back to bed this morning.
    2. DD went off happily with my papa and I've spoken to her a couple of times already :)
    3. Dropped OH back home and spent the rest of the day mooching about
    4. Have started turning the spare room into DD's bedroom and have a bag of old books my brother gave me that will be great for her, and another that will be great for one of her friends who is a bit older and more into the Hardy Boys!
    5. Slobbing out on the sofa with garlicky breath after my dinner with noone to worry about :)
    6. Going to pop to a lovely friend's in a moment to take the books and have a G&T with her, slurp!
    7. Enjoyed the sunshine
    8. Listening to lots of my favourite music on YouTube, love that site!
    9. Looking forward to seeing OH tomorrow :):)
    10. Realising the downstairs of the house is still reasonably clean and tidy, hoorah! I'll draw a veil over upstairs as it's in turmoil where i started but haven't finished doing the spare room. Getting to my bed could be "fun" after a couple of G&Ts!!
    11. Rediscovering lots of books from mine and my brother's childhood when going through the mess under the spare bed. Have a pile of things I want to re-read, must resist the temptation to go to the library for a very long time!
    12. Got the washing dry. Even with only 2 of us in the house, I still seem to be constantly washing.....maybe I've secretly got OCD about washing? Oh well, prefer that to hoovering/ironing OCD lol....

    1. A lovely night's sleep on slippery satin sheets, turning over was so much easier.
    2. Everyone I rang for work answered the phone and spoke to me - so that was financially and professionally rewarding. (I'm an e-tutor.)
    3. Friend came over and we booked two day trips away. She had been pressing for a weekend break but I've had two of those with her this year and have a weekend away at home down in Wales to fit in.
One of the day trips was a 2 for 1 offer. So we are both off to Glasgow in September for under £8!
    4. Decluttered two KS fitted sheets to same friend. She was desperate for bedding for her double bed and is a bit strapped for cash. I no longer need these cotton sheets, so it was a win-win situation.
    5. A young lad waiting to start college has offered to clear my front flower bed and frontage of weeds (I have a townhouse - on the edge of the countryside!) That will be money well spent and will help him out, too.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

House elf- I am sorry to hear about your son being robbed. I hope he is o.k?

Sparrer-oooh how exciting. Look forward to hearing how it goes....;)

Ladies please may I ask tentatively , Mr. B is not the same chap is he?

5 pleasures for today- well No. 1 is carried over from last night

    1. Finding out that my watering can was not useless. After taking off the head and the spout a large shiny frog jumped out as it had wedged itself in the spout.

    2. Bargains in Mr. T

    3. Roast beef, yorkshire pudding, 2 roast potatoes , 5 types of veg including leeks in cheese sauce for tea tonight.YUM:) French beans were from the garden and the yorkshires were from a 7p batter mix as I cannot master making my own despite many hundreds of attempts :rotfl:

    4. Invited my Mum and Barker (dog) over for the above tea . Barker and hens came face to face as they did not see her making her way over to my house . All animals intact although I may get square eggs tommorow.

    5. Hearing my great nephew give that deep belly laugh that only toddlers seem to do .

Have a good evening all x
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A
