5 or so for today (Thursday).

    1) Smaller son's 8th birthday!

    2) MrN's sons4 and 5 came round with presents for him. Haven't seen them for nearly 2 months really. It was quite odd having them back in my house. To make things even more surreal, No5 walked in to the house and a mouse followed him in and disappeared under the kitchen cupboards!

    3) Building work continues and all the tiles are down now (although not grouted yet).

    4) Mum, dad and brother came round to see smaller son and helped the builders lift the piano!

    5) Went to the safari park with sons and smaller son's best friend.

    6) Tea at McD's.

    7) To mum and dad's briefly for birthday cake and candles. Smaller son's favourite presents were an Eye Spy book, a little Lego model, a fire stick (carbon rod with scrapy metal bit to start fires in the wilderness) and a board my brother had cut for son to put his dart board on!

    8) My school friend came for the cake then came back to our house for a cup of tea.

    9) An honorary "aunt and uncle" of the boys came round.

    10) Pleasant emails from MrB and we will be meeting up after the weekend. :-))))

Grrr... siblings are hard work. On my way home from my eldest brother last night I decided it would be nice to improve the relationship I have with my middle brother so left him a voicemail inviting him out for dinner on Tuesday night. He called me tonight and now I wish I hadn't bothered. I know he works very long hours and is often in pain because of a medical condition that we both have (his is much much worse than mine)... but he was so miserable on the phone and basically implied that I had some underhanded reason for inviting him and that really it was a big hassle for him to meet me (despite him working less than half a mile from my London office). Grrrrr!!!! And though I get on well enough with my SIL it would have been nice to just meet him for dinner (he invited her as well)

Anyway back to the positives for today... I had a doctors appointment this morning and I thank my lucky stars that we have the amazing institution that is the NHS.

Happy (belated) birthday to Master Frith and woohoo to the second date, hope it goes marvellously :):)

    1. DD decided she was "poorly" and so I worked from home/played and cuddled and made cakes with her instead of her going to her activity club - there was absolutely nothing wrong with her just needed a mummy day :)
    2. Did some shopping in Te$co and was very restrained and checked prices online and stuck to my list!! Ok, there were 2 things I didn't get and 2 things extra I did, but it turned out to cost exactly the same as I had written down, spookily enough :)
    3. Picked up DD's school uniform deal from the above, and got a refund for the skirt which I knew would be too small, I just ordered it to get the deal price - so she's ended up with a £16 mac and a £3? pack of 3 polo shirts for £12.50!! :):)
    4. OH is here and looking refreshed from a few days peace and quiet without me and DD :)
    5. Lost 2 1/2lbs this week :) Very surprised as I'd not been for a couple of weeks to SW due to holiday, pre-holiday jitters etc and whilst I've been sensible about my eating, I've not been "dieting" as such, so I was very pleased :)

    Hello Folks,

Kittikins - Well done on the weight loss! I try to convince myself I am eating less/sensibly, but the dress sizes just keep going up! Perhaps I need the discipline of SW or WW?

Ladyhawk - Keep trying with your brother. It makes me so sad that my DD has not spoken to DS1 for months. Sadly the death of one of their friends has brought them together.

Frith - Safari Park iis a cool place for a birthday trip! DD's friend did that one year, and we all went back at Xmas on the free return ticket. :)

    5 for yeaterday

    1. Met up with work colleague for tea and cake. Went to cute cafe at the back of a tiny garden centre. Such a shame we couldn't sit outside because of the torrential rain!

    2. Got to see around colleagues house which has just had a massive extension. Fabulous!

    3. Paid for our hens and coop! Such a lovely family. They have offered to deliver them when we return from hols for the price of the petrol too! The only drawback is that I am not keen on the hen names. Chickenopolis, you don't think the hens would notice if I changed their names do you?:rotfl:

    4. Chicken Stroganoff for tea. Always a hit with DH and DD.

    5. My latest hobby! Printing internet coupons! Its like printing your own money!

    6. Met DH in town to buy DD's belated birthday present. (She had a refund from her OXFAM festival stewarding fee as she had to cancel Bestival to go to an OLYMPIC trial in Sept instead! Very proud mummy :A). Anyway, now she wants a camera. When we originally tried to buy it it my CC was out of date, and we had to return with new one. Meanwhile I noticed that Jessops were one of Mr T's rewards, so I exchanged some vouchers. Yesterday the price of the camera had gone down and we only had to pay £50 in real money!!! Hooray! So we are able to get her a bigger memory card and a bag etc to make it a better present. :money:

Hope you all have a great day today. HE x

Thanks House Elf - what makes me even more sad is that I used to get on really well with my middle brother and now it is just hard work. Made even worse that his wife will not let him do anything without her. I bought him a ticket to go to Twickenham with me a few years ago for his birthday and she had a complete strop about it and he wasn't allowed to go to the pub with me for long afterwards!

And then there is my youngest brother who, though is a lovely person, I have nothing in common with him and he is such hardwork to speak to. Grr!!!

Why does it have to be such hard work??? Maybe it is me that is the problem rather than them. :(

PS HE - what are the chooks names?

Ladyhawk - Its not just you, I think it is middle brother syndrome. My middle brother either wants to be my best friend or I don't exist. The don't exist is usually when his wife is about.

I only have one brother and historically his GF's have always called the shots and I haven't seen him on his own for about 10 years! A pain because whilst the GFs tend to be nice, I'd rather spend time with my little bro without these silly girls getting all possessive, I'm his sister !!!!!!!!

Anyway, he's recently become single again so maybe in between GFs I may get to see him!

Exactly Kittikins... It's not as if we're going to steal him from her!

My eldest DB is getting married abroad in November and the middle one has got all huffy about how selfish he is being. All my SIL can't get leave so my middle DB will have to come on his own. The fact that he got married in the same country a couple of years ago (in peak season) seems to have missed him by.

    Families eh?

How sad I am, reading about the brothers and sisters who don't get on. I know you can't choose your family as you can your friends but I get really upset (and sometimes cross!) when I hear about one sibling trying to be a friend, and another not making the effort. My brother is 6 years older than me, we've never lived nearby but always stay in touch, we lost our sister when she was 16, I was 14, and even today am almost envious when I read that a poster has had tea with, or gone shopping with, or just enjoyed some time in the company of, their sibling. I hope for everyone in an awkward situation that it gets better soon - or now :)

Chickenopolis I very often have to wait ages before I find what I'm looking for, I'd been dreaming of turning photos into canvases for a couple of years and wasn't going to let that deal go when I saw it! :D.

    1. Thank goodness for a sunny day so I can get the grass cut before my friends arrive for dinner on Sunday :)
    2. Found a Jali sideboard on freecycle, put my request in, and won! Another item I've been hankering after for ages :D. They're even going to deliver it to me this afternoon, so just spent the last 30 mins moving furniture around to accommodate it and now I'm jiggered!
    3. Checked my supermarket bill on line and now have a voucher to help with next month's shopping :D
    4. 'Won' a bag of Sensations, not the chocs fortunately as I'd have to give those away. Maybe...
    5. Have been in every shop/supermarket in a 10 mile radius over thr last 2/3 days looking for gluten free wraps. 2 supermarkets say on their web sites that they do them but when I went they both said they're only at the bigger stores. Got very frustrated, had to go into my little village bakery this morning and had a bit of a moan about it, the sa said you should have come here first, we make them to order!!! Phew, I don't have to change the planned menu for Sunday after all :T

Have a great afternoon, hugs to everyone
