5 or so for today (Wednesday).
1) Bit of a lie in - no builders.
2) Getting ready for smaller son's 8th birthday tomorrow. :-)
3) Went to the Chinese buffet restaurant in town that the boys love - only £3.50 for children.
4) Up to hospital about bigger son's hernia and they are still happy to ignore it.
5) Had tea at mum and dad's as our kitchen is out of action due to building works.
6) Went swimming briefly.
7) Sons played outside with MrN's son5 (the nearest in age to them) - first time in 6 weeks.
8) I picked some blackberries and put them in the freezer.
9) EMail from MrB and have arranged babysitting so he has a choice of evenings to go out with me early next week! :-D0 -
1. DD had a great day at her activity camp and is getting excited about the talent show tomorrow; sadly parents won't be invited, but I'm sure she'll tell me all about it
2. Lovely chat with a poorly OH, the humidity is making him really illbut
that we got to talk on the phone. Now just hoping he'll be better tomorrow to come and see meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee but if not I'll go over and demand a cup of tea and a cuddle :j
3. Scrumptious YS bread - so have made a week's worth of cheese sandwiches to put in the freezer and have put the rest of the loaf in the freezer, to reduce the temptation....bread is my downfall, but DD needs it for her packed lunches etc or I'd try not to buy it.
4. Managed to resist the urge to have an icelolly this afternoon :A
5. Took DD and a friend out blackberrying after dinner - at one point they had double figures worth in their boxes, but by the time we got back home, there were none left :rotfl::rotfl:
6. Bought DB a great housewarming card nice and cheap (sorry if that sounds awful, but I resent paying loads of money on a card that goes in the bin in a couple of days, and the words DD and I wrote inside count more)
7. Another good day at work
8. Quite sore leg again which isn't much of a pleasure, but at least now I "know" that daily life is the main cause of my problems as I was virtually pain-free whilst on holiday. If only I could get by without working, and be a lady of leisure.......
9. Finally got round to setting up my swanky eco-friendly multiway socket, so no when I turn the TV off, everything turns off rather than go on standby
10. Whilst doing the above, I also cleared up cable city and discovered I do have carpet under there......and that I have been wasting money plugging in non-working electronic appliances (thanks exOH for insisting on getting loads of carp that I never understood how to use lol) and plugs without anything at the end of the cables!! Anyway, there is now a much more organised TV area in the corner of the sitting room and whilst to the external viewer, it doesn't look like I've done much, I'm proud of my achievements
11. Wore a new to me top to work today and had nice comments on it - must pass them back to the friend who handed me down the top, she has good taste0 -
:)Dear All,
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. I was quite overcome. I have been all day to be honest. I have found keeping busy to be the best policy.
1. Made 20 litres of laudry gloop.
2. Shopping in Mr S used coupons to get £12 off the bill.
3. Watching DS2 playing with his iCoaster set he bought from Ebay with the last of his birthday money. (You can build rollercoasters for ballbearings).
4. Walking the dog in the Clent Hills and stopping for a cup of tea, and bread and butter pudding, at the NT cafe, to admire the view.
5. House to myself this evening.
Goodnight. :A0 -
Hiya
A very late one for me, will have to catch up tomorrow.
1. 2 loads of washing dried in sunshine
2. free kiddie clock making in museum this morning
3. free foam hats with ships on for kiddies this afternoon in art gallery (although the parents did more than the kids!!! :rotfl:)
4. Home made ciabatta bread for tea. It was lovely! Got another one for tomorrow.
5. Finished ds2s birthday present. Got sore fingers but it was worth it.0 -
Morning
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Walked to work again yesterday thats twice this week
2. Lovely chat on the phone with DD who sounds like she is having a great time at my parents. Being very spoilt but she is also looking after my mum so taking pressure of dad a bit.
3. Catching up with a friend at lunch time and in her own way letting me know she was OK. She has had a very traumatic year but doesn't like to talk about it.
4. Managing to complete the horrible monthly report that is now part of my job. The rest of the office love the fact that I have the report as they don't have to do parts of it anymore.
5. Date with OH. We went to the pictures (orange wednesday) then OH took me for dinner to a really yummy Indian Restaurant. The food is now the average curry house food and totally yummy. Got an idea to try to recreate one of their dishes.
Hugs to all who need them especially House Elf0 -
hello! left the house at early o'clock and it was already 14o....another nice day!
1.Was woken up by alarm clock... hurrah! 2 days in a row of a decent sleep!
2.Busy day at work. This is almost the end of my second week of full-time hours, hoping by next week it's not such a shock!
3.Went to mall in next town with kids for a wander & to get some photos developed. They had their tea there!
4. Home & we all did a bit of tidying, took 20 minutes & we are all tidy again! Hoovered, kitchen cleaned & bathrooms done.
5. Picked up DD2 on her way home, she didn't see me (expected me further down hill) and I watched her stop & talk to a cat! It was very pleased to get the attention & was trying to follow her. I'd a wee tear in my eye as we left our 2 daft cats with my sister.
6.Got a very long letter from a friend who I hadn't heard from since we moved & who I was saddened not to hear from as I had written a few times. Anyway, her letter also brought more tears as I was so happy to hear from her! All her news in lovely detail that I knew exactly what she meant.
7.Hot date with my husband! We went out for dinner & good to have a catch up. I had lasagne & salad (whispers ....and chips!) very yummy it was too.
8. Then nipped into supermarket for bread. I thought it was 2 loaves for $5 but it went through till at $3.75 each. I queried this but it was different loaves on offer. Anyway, bakery assistant said he was just going to mark them down, so got them at 50% off.
Think that's me! Have a good day, tis bedtime here!0 -
Good evening everyone
Sparrer-well done you with the canvas , I love reading about your bargains. You seem to spot so many!!
5 OS pleasures so far today
1. Finished reading the "Moneyless Man"-it was an interesting read. It did confirm yet again that this lifestyle option appears to be geared for people who are non disabled, due to the sheer physical effort that seems to be required. Also this was his choice as no one was holding a gun to his head. Not sure if this lifestye was "enforced" on him how he would fair though. Still a good read .:)
2. Wet hens looking pathetic in the garden standing "upright" in the rain like geese so that the rain can run off of their backs.Despite having a perfectly dry hen house and run.It was very "muggy" here so had the top half of stable style back door open. I had nine bedraggled hens "shouting" at me to let them in the kitchen, each time that they saw me in the kitchen. Not a chance
3.Nasi Goreng for tea made with baby courgette from the garden and our own eggs.
4.Gave 6 eggs to my aunt, who had brought over an article in one of today's tabloids about keeping chickens. Specifically ex- battery hens, and how hens were a healthy distraction to the person who had written the article.I bet hers don't shout:rotfl:
5. Picked more blackberries from the garden and added them to the rest in the feezer. I feel a crumble may be on the cards next week.
Have a good evening all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Hi Everyone,
I have been a MIA the last couple of days so let me think about my pleasures...
1) I am on holiday tomorrow!! Yippee! I am not doing anything except just chilling.
2) Met up with my best friend for dinner on Tuesday... we used my Taste London Card so it was half price... and yummy!
3) Used a groupon voucher for laser hair removal... I am hoping this will be be one of my last sessions.
4) Stopped by to have dinner with my brother and FSIL last night. My DB and I had a really lovely conversation about the future and what makes us happy. My family never speaks about things like that so it was particularly lovely.
5) The lovely soaking rain for my veggies.
Night all.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Hiya
Mine for today
1. Took the kids to library and they made hats, fridge magnet rabbits, sang songs and listened to a story. and they got their prizes for taking back their first lot of books. They also took their second lot of books out and dd has already read hers.
2. Rained this afternoon so we baked biscuits instead of going out.
3. Cleaned kitchen twice due to 2 above!!!
4. Finally have an empty washing basket and an empty ironing basket! :j
5. In my pj's already 'chillaxing' on the sofa. (ok, it was cos ds2 just threw up all down my back but it was mainly water so i think he just gulped down too much as he seems fine now, thankfully - and that was number 6)

Evening
Pleasures for today;
1. Lovely cooling rain in the night and today
2. Lunch with my friend at work, he wanted to get out of the office for a bit so we had lunch together in a lovely pub and had 2for1 voucher so :money:
3. Good chat with my mum on the phone and I think it has finally got through to her that she needs to eat. She has realised that the not eating is part of her mental health issues which is a good start to things improving so hopefully we are over the worst of it.
4. Easy dinner of pasta bolognaise for dinner with a portion left for the freezer
5. Just chilling with OH
Hugs to all who need them0
