    Good evening everyone,

House Elf -congratulations on being a small holder . I started with two hens and now have nine. Although two are chickens "by proxy" as my friend owns them as she has not got a garden. She gets their eggs I get to spoil them and we get given allotment treats for them from her. I am sure that you will gets hours of enjoyment from them:)

    5 Pleasures for today

    1. New library books.

    2. Trip to garden centre and didn't spend anything.

3.Another work colleague who is also a relative came over to visit. We worked out that our grandparents were in fact brother and sister which was spooky, as we had never heard of each other before. Some rift many years ago between the two I believe. Glad I have found her now though:)

    4. Tempura veg and prawns for tea- with courgettes from the garden. The tempura mix was "discovered" during my kitchen cupboard blitz. It was a little out of date but tasted fine.

    5. Broody hen has finally got off of her nest of invisible eggs. Its been over a month and it was nice to see her out all day of her on accord.

    Good night everyone x

    Good evening, all.

mummysaver - it's lovely to see you back, and many congrats on Spud's arrival! :)

Ladyhawk - what a shame about the job. :( I'm sure something better will be along soon, though.

I'm feeling rather tired and run down after a long weekend with my sister: I love her dearly (of course) but she can be seriously hard work when she wants to be. :( I confess to breathing a bit of a sigh of relief when she left yesterday afternoon! :o

    1) Wore one of my favourite pairs of trousers to work today, which have gold / yellow beads all down the sides - I don't wear them often as every time I wash them more beads fall off and I know I'm going to end up with beadless trousers sooner or later! ;)

    2) My landlord came round and checked the electrics after Friday's flood, and I'm pleased to say everything's fine.

    3) A nice chat with my DF on the phone.

    4) The 'special' tomato plants I gave my DF have got their first flowers on. They're special because the seeds came from tomatoes which I grew last year, which didn't come out according to the usual type for that variety (iyswim). We're quite keen to see if we've managed to produce a new variety - the ones last year were better than the 'normal' ones as they ripened more evenly and seemed less prone to rotting - if they grow true we could be on to something. ;)

    5) Made a big bowl of lentil and tomato salad, which was nice for dinner and left plenty for tomorrow.

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Bought another premium bond today as had been paid. I know that if I left the money in my account it would get wasted so happy that I am saving.
    2. Left over pasta for lunch, yummy
    3. Received my magazine today and has a lovely shower gel with it so will add to the present cupboard or may be tempted to use
    4. Gave the bathroom a quick clean this morning just need to do the floor which will try to get done tomorrow
    5. Half an hour in the garden tonight and cleared another corner. Have an idea what I would like to do with this area just need to convince OH.
    6. Chat with my dad on the phone and he was able to get a few things off his chest regarding my mums mental health. She is very hard work at the moment and its very hard on him. We are hoping DD being there will improve her a bit and I am going to go and spend some time there at the end of the month. I can say things to her that others wouldn't get away with :o

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening All

Thanks for the good wishes for the hens Chickenopolis. I think we would like to add a few more. Possibly 4 altogether. However, I can quite understand how you could end up with 9! :rotfl:They are very entertaining.

    5 for today

    1. DS2 first day at activity week. (Groupon deal for 1/3 of the price at posh school in Worcestershire). He enjoyed it, and I enjoyed the drive through the countryside too. Not sure that I will be so keen on the drive by Friday :o

    2. More things listed on EBay. Makes me feel like I am decluttering. :)

    3. 4 lines of washing. I bet the neighbours think I take in washing! :rotfl:

    4. Made proper lasagne for tea from Tamasin Day Lewis cook book. Usually assemble something quick using jars etc. DD can take some for lunch tomorrow and lots to freeze. Yum!

    5. Went for a walk with DH and the doggy to The Jewellery Quarter where DH's comany is considering relocation. The building is an old workshop. Lots of original Victorian features. Exposed brickwork etc. Wish we could move in and convert it to living accommodation. Nowhere for the hens though! Or the washing!
