Good evening, all.
sparrer - thanks for reminding me that I should be grateful I have my sister around, even if I do occasionally feel like giving her an impromptu swimming session in the Solent when she's visiting me.
house elf - how exciting that your DD has an Olympic trial! What sport does she do, if you don't mind me asking?
Frith - a belated happy birthday to your DS. :bdaycake:
Mine for today:
1) A day off work as I was waiting for a parcel to be delivered - and I did rather need it after over-doing the cider a touch at the pub quiz last night.
2) A lovely, sunny day so I got a load of stuff done in the garden.
3) Cut flowers were on special offer in the supermarket so my flat is now full of yellow and purple chrysanths.
4) Got a clearance catalogue through the post from my favourite jewellery company which included some multi-colour bead bracelets reduced to £5 each, so I treated myself to a nice yellow one. (It had to be yellow, didn't it?)
5) Did a count up of my survey vouches and I now have enough for the set books for my new OU course. :money:
6) The prospect of a nice glass or two of wine with dinner tonight, thanks to my sister - a friend gave her a bottle of red wine but she can't drink it as it gives her migraines, so she donated it to me. :A
Have a lovely Friday evening, all (except, mhagster, obviously - I hope you had a lovely Friday evening!).Back after a very long break!0 -
3. Paid for our hens and coop! Such a lovely family. They have offered to deliver them when we return from hols for the price of the petrol too! The only drawback is that I am not keen on the hen names. Chickenopolis, you don't think the hens would notice if I changed their names do you?:rotfl:
4. Chicken Stroganoff for tea. Always a hit with DH and DD.
House elf- As long as you don't call her Stroganoff:rotfl:Also don't use anything that you may regret when the veterinary nurse calls out the chickens name in a packed surgery... we have a small palomino coloured hen called "Butch" . I would love it if OH took her in her cat basket for a non serious trip to the vets and they called out "Butch" :rotfl:
Sparrer- see what I mean, your 2,3 and 4:). Bargain spotter.
5 pleasures for today- nothing particularly exciting due to back pain
1.Its a beautiful day here, unlike yesterday.
2.Courgettes finally becoming less than hobbit sized.
3. Made a not very nice tea and OH ate it all.
4. A nice peaceful day .
5. Hens covering me in mud when they were dustbathing in a tiny space I have left for them in my veg patch.
Hope everyone has a great weekend x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all
Very quick visit
1) After two days of sea fog we finally got a bit of sun today
2) Got my washing nearly dried on the line - just finishing off on the airer
3) HR woman e-mailed me - she hasn't forgotten the job spec - just needs to get it approved - will hopefully get it next week
4) I was going to treat myself to chips this evening but after all the economic news today I rummaged around in the freezer for some mince and used up some veggies - also better for the healthy eating plan
5) E-mails from MrB
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today
1. Croissant at work this morning that one of my collegues brought in, yummy
2. Chat with DD on the phone, she sounded a bit fed up at the start of the conversation but was very chirpy by the time we finished.
3. Hour in the garden tonight clearing another patch of the overgrown mess. It will get there
4. Enjoying a peaceful couple of hours with the house to myself this evening
5. Few YS bargains in Waitrose tonight including some very nice wine at £2.99 a bottle. It would have been rude not to buy it really:D. I also bought some cans of pimms to take to the open air theatre tomorrow so we are not paying London prices and will be a nice treat.
6. Looking forward to a day out with MIL and SIL tomorrow. We are going to the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park plus have booked us lunch in a swanky hotel in London (on a deal of course).
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Hi all, been busy at work.
1. Gave a friend a bag of buttons from a charity shop (she does crafts with them).
2. Same friend gave us a bag of potatoes and other bits from her allotment
3. A rare lunch out yesterday with a work colleague - thai fishcakes with salad and guinness!
4. Still making meringues.
5. Made lemon curd today to use up the yolks. Hopefully it will be ok
6. Getting a bit of space back in my freezer so should soon be able to bring stuff back from mum's huge freezer
7. Went for a walk with another work colleague - both of us wanting to lose some weight but still eat some chocolate!!! Lovely walk round the park in the sunshine.
8. Got a lift home from work.
9. Promised to give a friend macrame lessons - mum sent us kids to (cheap) lessons one summer hols when we were young and I still use it from time to time.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
quite a few today which makes a nice change especially at the moment.
1. Got to spend about 4 hours with dad who is in hospital at the moment. He was more with it and hopefully I think we cheered him up a bit. Also by speaking up and standing my ground (something I am not normally very good at ) I got dad moved to a much nicer ward where he seems happier.
2. Went to mr s late this evening and got a few bargains inc 2 half price vest tops for £2 each and some ttd sausage rolls fo 30p a packet!! love the yellow stickers.!!
3. Afternoon nap on the sofa with the dog - they should provide that on the nhs!!
4. Quickly nipped in debenhams ( not somewhere i would normally shop) my lovely oh bought me two lovely tops both reduced and saved a total of 27.60!!
5. oh has just added up that all the yellow stickered items from mr s should have came to £11.58 but we paid just £1.58.
:T0 -
While we're on the subject of brothers, mine is nearly 9 years younger than me and has never had a girlfriend so I haven't had problems with one getting possessive!
5 or so for today (Friday). Not a bad day!
1) Builders back. They put in the chimney liner and cut the skirting boards ready for fitting next week. And the electrician came so I am now in the living room with the laptop PLUGGED IN! and LIGHTS ON!!!
2) Enjoyed today's Graze box of goodies.
3) Lovely, sunny day. Played darts in the garden with sons for a while.
4) Very exciting - we went canoeing in the afternoon. :-) I was looking in the summer activities brochure produced by the local district council and they offered 3.5 hours of canoeing on the river Severn. So we went and so did my brother (who really enjoyed it). Set off a few miles upstream and bigger son said, "There's Grandma and Grandad". And there they were, waiting for us on a bridge! We never did get the hang of steering so went through some weeping willow stingy, lashy branches and accidentally took a weir sideways on!
5) Brother came here for tea and my sister, who had just got home from Yorkshire. Brother played on the Wii with sons for ages.
6) Had a good tidy up in the house. It was so dusty but I changed my bed, tidied my room a bit and cleaned the stairs and kitchen floor.
7) Managed to unearth the piano from under its dustsheets so gave that a hammering.
8) An email this morning and a couple of texts this evening from MrB who is at the British Beer Festival. :-)0 -
Evening all (if that it the right term to use at 12.20am!)
Sparrer - sorry if I upset or offended you! And you are so right... we dont appreciate things until they're gone.
1) I had today as holiday so took the morning easy and pottered about the flat tidying and washing
2) Went to test drive some "new" cars. I drove the Eos from VW and the MX5 from Mazda. The Mazda was prettier but the Eos was more comfortable. They were both in my price range but I'll still need to negotiate.
3) Clean sheets on the bed
4) Popped round to lovely neighbour for her birthday drinks. It was all very low key and really pleasant. I also got round to seeing her flat... and though the layout of ours is the same they are so different
5) More sunflowers have come out in my sunflower forest.
Night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
I haven't managed to post for a while.
Had a lovely holiday but have started working 4 days a week instead of 2 so am trying to get into a routine but not succeeding at moment. It doesn't help being school / uni holidays.
1. Had a lovely holiday but it seems a long time ago now.
2. Picking 3lb of blackberries and made jam with it. Already picked and eaten lots.
3. Taking lunch into work every day which enabled me to have a couple of NSD
4. DS1 and DS2 staying at my sisterr for a few days and working really hard for her in her garden this week in the hot weather. They earned the money she gave them.
5. Seeing friends while walking my dog and meeting someone new who seems very nice.
6. Managed to get a good deal on a new vacuum cleaner when the engine blew on my last one.0 -
hello!
1.slept till 7am, hurrah for me!
2.Phoned my niece who had been for a scan yesterday....all well but no nearer to finding out what she's having. Normally a surprise would be nice (& still will be) but I have so much I want to bring home that it would have been handy to know what sex the baby is......anyway, as long as it's healthy!
3.Phoned an old work colleague ,to confirm a night out that has been arranged for when I go home in 7 weeks! Most dates in my diary are filling up so good to get this one penned in. I worked with a great crowd of girls so looking forward to catching up with them. Had a good long chat with her.
4.Did shopping & was reasonably on budget. Bought strawberries (much cheaper than usual) and will make jam tomorrow.
5.Came home, washed and washed & ironed & ironed! Got loads hung out but it got caught in rain when we were out so will have to hang it all over the place
6. Went to a BIG shoping mall, to return a pair of non-cheap sunglasses I got for my birthday (4 months ago) They broke whilst I was wearing them last week, so hunted out receipt, went back to concession in department store & said these are broken! She said I'll fix them, will be about 15 minutes....okay, we had a wander & didn't spend too much. Came back, got specs, stupidly didn't check them as assumed if they were returned they would be fixed. Got to car (was pouring by this time) looked at them....had she fixed them ? Had she heck! So back out in rain, back in to store....er...these are not fixed! Oh well I'll have to send them away ,they could be 6 weeks! Fine ,do that! So I am back to wearing my one pound Primark specials! The glasses have a one year warranty so it was obviously no skin off her nose to send them back!
7. Just going to phone my best friend from home & then going to cinema!
Hope you all have a good weekend, M x0
