Ladyhawk it's not you who offends me at all, please don't think that. You obviously do appreciate your brothers or you wouldn't want to be with them. It's the ones who don't bother that I get annoyed with. I used to ask my DGD's to be nice to each other but I appreciate it's just how children are - a pity some adults don't grow out of it. As you said, families eh. I guess I just want it to be a perfect world and it can't be. Shame :o

CCP if I hear of someone being rescued from the Solent I won't say a word, honest ;)

A bit early for pleasures but here's just one - got a lovely thank you letter from my DM for having her last week. She doesn't have a computer or mobile so doesn't email or text, she still does it the 'old-fashioned' way of writing bread-and-butter letters, and it's lovely to get one!

Hugs to everyone, have a good day

    Afternoon all,

    Here's some of mine...

    1. HM lemon curd tastes yum!
    2. OH paid cheque into a smaller branch - much shorter queue considering its saturday.
    3. Go a letter regarding a complaint I made and they say they will send me a £40 cheque - see it does pay to complain ;)
    4. Feel the urge to do some more clearing out of my wardrobe and some clutter clearing - since the weather isn't great.
    5. Only put on a lb this week - and considering the way I've stuffed myself, that's a shock! Back to being good soon though.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

Evening, all - I hope no-one's got too soggy in all the unpleasant weather today.

newlywed - yummm, HM lemon curd! I've been intending to try making some for years - I got as far as asking my DM for her recipe but still haven't quite got round to doing anything about it. :o

There's no need to worry, sparrer - unlike me, my sister's a very good swimmer! ;)

mhagster - grrr at your broken sunglasses, and at the shop assistant's attitude - that's really naughty to pretend to fix them and then not do it.

I've had a really lazy day today:

    1) A very long lie-in this morning, which was lovely but a bit embarrassing when a neighbour knocked on my door at gone 11 and I wasn't even dressed. :o

    2) NSD.

    3) Finally got round to painting some test patches on my bathroom and kitchen walls to decide what colours I'm going to re-decorate my flat in, which is something I've been intending to do (and have promised my landlord I'd do) since last autumn. :o:o:o I'm going to do the kitchen in pale yellow, I've decided, which I suspect won't come as much of a surprise to anyone. ;)

    4) Listened to the first Pompey match of the season on the radio, and it ended in a very respectable draw. :) :footie:

    5) Had a sort out of some of my books and have put together a decent pile for a local charity shop which is appealing for donations.

    6) Roast veg and pesto lasagne for dinner - one of very few vegetarian meals I genuinely enjoy. (I'm just a natural carnivore, sadly. ;))

    7) After a grey sort of day (nowhere near as bad as in some parts of the country, I know) the sun's come out and it's really quite pleasant now.

Have a very pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    A few days highlights.
    1. Managed to dodge the worst of the showers today - and the persistent rain this afternoon!
    2. Broken the back of the ironing - wardrobe is fuller, now have super choice of things to wear.
    3. Managed to discover and use up everything in the fridge about to go OOD.
    4. Lots of freebies from the Freebie Thread and newsletters.
    5. Grandchildren over and for once, nothing was broken, misused or mislaid. They aren't really naughty, but both are over-inquisitive and HAVE to touch things...

How sad I am, reading about the brothers and sisters who don't get on. I know you can't choose your family as you can your friends but I get really upset (and sometimes cross!) when I hear about one sibling trying to be a friend, and another not making the effort. My brother is 6 years older than me, we've never lived nearby but always stay in touch, we lost our sister when she was 16, I was 14, and even today am almost envious when I read that a poster has had tea with, or gone shopping with, or just enjoyed some time in the company of, their sibling. I hope for everyone in an awkward situation that it gets better soon - or now :)
Yes Im an only child of elderly parents and was incredibly lonely as a child and ofter yearn for a sister or brother to share the good and the bad. I have four children of my own and they all have ups and downs in their relationships but are there for each other when it matters. On that note one of my five pleasures...

    1. DD took DS3 to the dentist as i was unwell. Now she is phobic regarding the dentist so overcame her fears and took Ds3 as he had an emergency appointment. She is growing into a fantastic woman and is very caring of her youngest brother. They have a lovely relationship.
    2. My online and real life friend Mooloo (whom I met via MSE) visited this morning with her delightful DGD for whom she is a foster carer. She had made me a very beautiful bag which really cheered me up.
    3. Anticipating my holiday on Monday with my family.
    4. My doggies who are a constant source of companionship.

Sorry cant think of many more but will keep trying xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good evening all,

    5 pleasures so far, today

    1. Did a scary stock check in my shampoo, soap, hair dye cupboard. Won't need to buy any more stuff until at least 2037! Shall give some unused Cli****e lipsticks that were free to my friend as she uses this colour. Shall use the unopened sachets of shampoo and conditioner at weekends in case I have to wrestle with my locks - not a good thing to do on a work day.

    2. £5 off of a £40 shop voucher for Mr. T and another £1.50 off voucher for some beef.Every little 'elps etc;)

3.Realised that I have not weighed myself for over 11 years.I have lost a lot of weight due to swapping my portions around e.g 2 roast potatoes instead of my usual 8 and replacing the 6 potatoes with veg . This will save money as all of my ancient jeans fit me again:). I have no idea of my current weight as it is not important to me , I was just uncomfortable with my body when it was more "rounded" and I prefer having "sharper edges". Probably a throw back to when I was an apprentice jockey needing to "make the weight" in races which was usually 6 and a half stone wet through at 5ft 6 ins - not normal:eek: .

4.Made a cottage pie for OH for his tea and used up the half eaten tiger bread loaf and made garlic bread with this. He was supposed to be home at 6pm and now its 7.50pm - I expect it will be carbonised shortly.:rotfl:It will end up in the chickens I suspect.

5.Finished library book and Harry Potter is now on.

Have a good evening all x

    Evening all

    1) Wonderfully strange weather again - started off lovely and sunny, then there was some sea fog and 10 minutes later it was lovely and sunny again :o. It's now raining and foggy :o
    2) Still managing to get my bedsheets dry when the sun was out
    3) Receiving the job spec by e-mail this morning - I've got to say it's fantastic...I know I can't turn it down...but I've still got to negotiate money so can't sound too keen :D
    4) E-mail from Mr B
    5) Ironing all done
    6) Finding some rtc cider in Asda this afternoon ;)
    7) Lovely Skype chat with my best mate very late last night.....she was very inebriated and kept telling me she missed me . She's the sister I never had. I miss her very much.

Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them

    Evening Ladies,

    Chicken 6.5 stone....

Carolynia - Glad the job spec sounds interesting. Will you have to move for your job or can you stay where you are?

    1) Lovely lazy day

    2) Bathroom is now spotless

    3) Afternoon snooze with the kitty cat

    4) All my washing is now done and dried. Now I just have to iron it :(

    5) Silly joke sent to me on BBM by my friend who lives on the other side of the world... it made me smile.

    Night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
