    Morning

    Five from me already....

    1) Smell of homemade stem ginger cookies still lingering in the air from yesterday.

    2) Sorting out my nectar card and discovering there is over £ 500 sat on there in points. Will use some in Sainsbugs and use the cash to bring bills up to date. Rest can just sit there until I need something.

    3) Completing the times crossword for the first time ever.

    4) Having an organised and gleaming kitchen for a change.

    5) Watched the film "Last Holiday" online (free under package) which had a real feel good factor about it.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

tealady & ladyhawk: good luck for your sunwalk! Also don't give up hope on the job Ladyhawk, I would say the sense of urgency is not used much here! (trying to put that diplomatically & not wanting to offend any Ozzies!)

1.Went to supermarket first thing, 8am is an ideal time for wandering around, was almost empty but alas no bargains at that time of day.
2.Had an amazing breakfast! Square, sliced sausage, potato scones & yummy mushrooms. We were all stuffed but sooo happy!
3.Watched Casualty whilst ironing. Not sure why but I have done so much more washing this weekend. Maybe just with uniforms again after 2 weeks off but it has been one load after another. Then I watched an episode of Eastenders!
4.Went to library with girls, had a read through 2 glossy magazines & was glad I didn't spend $15 (tenner) on them!
5.Had such a long bath (.....er, over 3 hours! Finished a book & just kept topping up the hot water!)

Pack lunches made , bags packed & all set for a new week!

mhagster - in NZ, we waited 3 months for magazines[Saturday Evening Post, with its wonderful Norman Rockwell covers, Colliers, Australian Women's Weekly] and MY comics to arrive by seamail, sometimes longer. Oh, the waiting for School Friend and Girls' Crystal - ah yes, The Silent Three! Later, Beatles mags.
Most annoying would be knowing answers for competitions, whose closing date had long passed before I could enter.

Ladyhawk - I echo mhagster's comment[crikey, that WAS a BIIIIG bath], but things get effectively done[well, in kiwiland anyway...] be assured. I certainly don't see your chance as lost.

Wow, fitzbitz - I won't associate with Murdoch and his works, but hope you heard araucaria in last week's DID. I heard it while in France and he is wonderful, in his 90's.

    1. Enforced rtn visit to camping shop after £10.50 overcharge. Managed X5 at end of day and was given further £s off for the inconvenience.
    2. Une française sat beside me en route and we chatted happily - has lived around St Neot's for over 30 years.
    3. Finished reading Grayson Perry en route.
    4. Had supported a nearish village fair earlier. Renewed acquaintance with A. on the gate - a lovely setting, ponies, carts, simple enjoyments, children running free, happy and safe in bliss. Lots more marvellous books[mustn'tmustn'tmustn't] - amongst which several should pay for others.
    5. 3 interesting finds amongst the bric-à-brac.
    6. On rtn journey, from the books, began Matthew Battle's Library:an Unquiet History, after Grayson.
    7. Listening to Georgette Heyer's 'Friday's Child' as I dozed off with Grauniad. I regret Kate Muir's column from The Times, mostly from their time in France, and wish she'd change ships. I so appreciate what the Guardian represents and prints.

Seeing time time already, must not let more slip away - too much to do.
Make the most of what sun there is today; it's still not summer warm.

Gratefulforhelp - MrN chucked me by text at 11.30 on a Tuesday evening (nearly 4 weeks ago). On the Saturday, his wife moved back in (they had been apart for over 2 years). So he's not my favourite person...

You're well out of it, he sounded like a messer.

First time I've seen this thread. It's fantastic to reflect on the good things in life - especially as I'm grieving the unexpected death of a dear friend and I can't tell anyone how wretched I feel.

    1. Spent an hour playing with my cat, Trevor, this morning. I live by myself and work long hours so it's great to devote time to her.

    2. Mowed the lawn. Looks great, smells fantastic.

    3. Sorted two bin bags of clothes for the charity shop - I've concluded that I'm fat and unlikely to get thin again, so those clothes that no longer fit have to go!

    4. Watched wild rabbits on my back lawn as I ate my breakfast. They decimate my plants but I love to see them.

    5. Am about to log off and have a very long (and strong) vodka and pineapple drink in the garden. No more work for me today!

Hope you've all had a fabulous day and thanks for letting me share.

    Hi all

    A warm welcome to 20400keith!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - DH is back in the bring-brekkie-in-bed business (after I let him off yesterday) so I got fried eggs and cherry tomatoes.

2 - Straight after breakfast, a long stint with DH at the allotment, lots done (even if lots still to do).

3 - Courgettes, runner beans and rainbow chard ready and plentiful.

4 - The weather, how lovely to have the sun shining again!

5 - Chick peas and white beans cooking in bulk for future meals to be frozen and a large batch of homemade baked beans.

Have a good evening all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Good afternoon, all, from a very badly shaken CCP, the result of a kid on a bike cycling out in front of my car.:eek::eek: Luckily I was going very slowly so she's not much hurt - just grazed, bruised and shocked - which is pleasures one to five and then several dozen more!

Other major pleasures were the kindness of everyone who got involved - a passing nurse who checked on the kid then gave me a hug when she saw how much I was shaking, a member of staff in a nearby building who brought me a glass of water and offered to let me leave my car in the staff car park overnight if I was too shaken to drive, the ambulance staff and police officer who came to check up on everyone, and the kid's mother who kept coming to tell me her child was OK and made sure everyone knew the accident wasn't my fault (which it wasn't, but it doesn't stop me feeling bad about it :().

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest, all! :)

Caterina - I planted rainbow chard this year but nearly all of it has come up as the normal green variety - just as tasty as multi-coloured, of course, but not nearly as much fun.

20400keith - welcome to the thread, and well done for finding pleasures at such a sad time. I hope you really enjoy(ed) your drink.

tealady and Ladyhawk - I hope your sun walk went well.

Have a good evening, all - I'll be heading out to the pub quiz as I feel in need of company (and also a large drink, which I sadly won't be getting as I'm on antibiotics :().
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all,

Ouch, ouch, ouch!!! The Sunwalk was good, it wasn't as tough as the Edinburgh Moonwalk - though I am sore this evening. I managed to do it in 3.15hrs which I as pleased about.

Keith - sorry about your loss... welcome to our thread. Give Trevor a cuddle from me... (you have a female cat called Trevor???)

Ampersand & MHags - thanks for the encouragement re the job. I am just going to take a step back and if it happens, it happens...

CCP - that car of yours is not being very lucky for you. Glad the little girl was ok. I had a similar incident today when a young girl stepped out in front of my car. She was busy talkingon phone and got a heck of fright when I hooted at her.

    So, my pleasures from today...

    1) Completing the Sunwalk

    2) NSD

    3) Lovely snooze when I got home (more like collapsed into bed!)

    4) Lovely long bath (not quite as long as Mhags!)

    5) Stuffed courgette for supper... yum

Night all - it is going to be an early night for me moi.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
