Hello
Late drop in for me!- Breakfast at my parents
- Paid of part of my CC
- Cake and coffee with a friend
- Oodles of Crochet
- Trip to the library
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
A very surreal day which I'm not sure how I feel about yet, but no doubt will 'get my head round it', as they say
1. Picked up DD 8am to take to hosp, more x-rays, more walking from one dept to another over a period of 2+ hours - I certainly got my exercise today!
2. The canvas that I ordered three days ago has arrived already, and it's stunning
3. 'Won' a cheque for £20 for simply entering a code from a tub of spread onto their web site. Never done anything like that before, proves it works
4. Got a cheque for £33 for completing surveys
5. Had news of my oldest daughter, who no-one in the family has heard of/from for 15 years. Apparently she's well and happy and is a grandmother now. She was married with two children when she left under very difficult circumstances, so although I'm not sure if I really want to meet her again (sorry if that sounds harsh, but....) of course I'm pleased to hear news of her. Phew!
Night night, sleep well

It sounds like you've had a very strange day, Sparrer. Good to hear your daughter is OK.0

(((Sparrer)))
VJsmum - have a fab holiday, I've been to Sweden once and loved it, it's on my list of places to go back to and I've always wanted to learn a Scandinavian language. Maybe once I've conquered Italian
Chickenopolis - mmmm, hm egg fried rice, can I come for tea??I've never managed to make it work for me, it's probably not that hard just I'm a bit daft!
Tealady - sorry to hear about your bike and hmmmm, it's making me think long and hard about buying a bike from that shop, as it's not the first time I've heard of shoddy workmanship on putting the things together. Unfortunately though, my local lovely bike shop is v. expensive, so I'm a bit torn as I really want/need a new bike that I can actually ride without hurting my back...
Anyway....yesterday's pleasures:
1. Made the grown up decision to NOT to go SW as I knew the weigh in would be rubbish and I am on holiday this afternoon, so have decided to wait til I returnOH thought I was being silly but I didn't want to be demoralised just before we go away!
2. Lovely big shiney £2 reverbe
3. Very productive day at work, amazing what I can achieve when I put my mind to it!
4. Lovely chats with friendly librarian and lady on the foreign exchange desk at Te$cos
5. DD was thrilled to be given more holiday spending money
6. OH and I had some good wine to get us in the holiday mood0 -
Hi all
Sparrer, it must be very emotional to hear about your DD! I imagine that you will be relieved that she is well. (((HUGS)))
Kittikins, se vuoi parlare Italiano parliamo insieme! :-) I miss speaking Italian, I hardly know any Italians here in London!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Early-ish morning workout, over and done with by 9:30 am
2 - Allotment visit, lots of courgettes!
3 - Gave my friend the book that I hated and she loved it so now she can re-read it to her heart's content (there's no accounting for taste LOL)
4 - Did the short tax return for my friend, another task over and done with for another year!
5 - DS is back from his week away, we all missed him very much.
Have a good evening all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all.
I'm not feeling particularly pleasurable today for a number of reasons, the chief ones being that someone has knocked a chip out of the paint on my car door overnight  and that the antibiotics I'm taking are giving me some very odd side effects, notably a strange distortion of my sense of smell which means I keep smelling gravy. (Why gravy, I really can't imagine!)
I must think of cheerful, things, though:
1) It's Friday. :j
2) A short day at work as it was the office lunch...
3) ...which fizzled out when nearly everyone left after one drink (skipping the 'lunch' part), but at least chatting to colleagues over that one drink was nice.
4) All my big tomato plants have flowers on now, and the smaller plants are getting bigger every day.
5) I had a brainwave regarding the spelt bread flour that I've been struggling with (you're not supposed to use it in the BM as it only needs on knead, but the 'fast' setting only needs the bread once and is therefore ideal ): I haven't tried the resulting loaf yet but it looks promising!
I hope everyone's had a pleasant day today, and a nice evening ahead.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all,
CCP - Grrrrrrrrrr!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad: So sorry to hear about the car.
Sparrer - What a strange day for you. Glad to hear that your daughter is well.
Caterina - what are going to do with all courgettes? I have a surplus which I am struggling to get through....
Kittikins - Have a lovely, relaxing holiday:cool::cool:
Tealady - I refuse to spend another penny at Halfords - their customer service is abolutely shocking.
1) I started a leadership training course today at work which is going to last 9 weeks. Think it could be interesting, though very challenging.
2) NSD
3) Fabulous customer service from TM Lewin. I am very impressed about how they have dealt with my lost cufflinks. :T:T:T
4) A drink with some nice colleagues after the course (my turn to buy next time)
5) Chatting to my dear friend L on blackberry messenger. She was offered a new job today so was very happy.
Well, I don't think that I am going to get anywhere with the Oz job so will have to rethink what I want to do. Things seem to moving so slowly and the director seemed a little impatient when I emailed to check on the progress. Anyway I am not going to push any more and continue to look elsewhere.
Have a wonderful weekend.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening everyone
CCP - what a nightmare, i had 3 seperate incidents of someone keying my car within 1 week a few months back. no point getting it fixed as they may just do it again!!
Tealady - I hope you got your bike problem sorted! I cant believe they gave it to you in that state!
Mine for today
1. Feeling so much better. Just had some cramps today but I can cope with that!!!!My sister was right!!! :j
2. Managed to get bathroom and kitchen clean
3. Popped to the shops after checking out offers so got lots of food again now!
4. Rested this afternoon. Dont want to over do it and cause a relapse!! :rotfl:
5. Fakeout night. Pizza (I bought cheap ones and used toppings I had at home so nearly homemade) and film.0 -
my pleasures today:
coffee with a friend for an hour or so.
watching the sea from my window.
watching the buses trying to do a turn-around outside my window (its the local music festival tomorrow and sunday and all the roads have been closed off. it happens every year so you think they would know??)
a lovely small grandson over to stay the night with me, and tomorrow afternoon we will swop with his little brother and he will stay til sunday. i love having them over.
watching the birds coming and going outside; 2 woodpeckers today as well as the normal hoard of sea gulls.0 -
An ex student of mine with a summer job working at a posh skin care counter in John Lewis - loads of free samples whilst we gossiped as she had to pretend she was working. Also seeing her again (so that counts as 2 I suppose)
Fresh pasta with fresh peas and beans with cheapo bacon off cuts
Finishing off a load of paperwork
A Friday night so I can have a wee drinky (don't drink during the week)0
