Chickenopolis - love the idea of your ladies helping you with you blackberrying. Welcome to the thread

Nuttybabe - sorry to hear that you are still feeling wretched. Get well NOW!

Grrr.... really annoying start to my morning... one of our directors sent my boss a stroppy email about a letter I sent out. We had asked for her feedback on the letter at least twice, possibly three times... but she chose not to respond and then got cross because she didn't like it. I called her up to explain to her that she really needed to get back in her box.

    1) Being able to have that conversation in a calm manner.

    2) As all the men in the office were out playing golf today (hope they got rained on) the girls decided to go out for lunch. I got a voucher for everyone and we had a lovely time.

    3) Biscuit samples in the office

    4) Was able to help out a colleague with a couple of her contracts (bane of our lives)

    5) The muslin for my jam making arrived in the post.

    6) Quick chat with my oldest brother this afternoon.

    7) Fish pie again for supper... I am getting a little bored of it now... but at least it is nice and easy.

    Night all

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Fizzbitz and Chickenopolis - welcome to the thread!

nuttybabe - you get well now, you hear? ;)

    1) The mog hunting my comb while I was trying to get ready for work this morning - it was so cute I couldn't resist playing along even though I knew it would make me late for work. :o

    2) An exceptionally kind stranger spotted me huddling under a tree in the rain and insisted on walking me back to the office under cover of his umbrella. :A

    3) The last of the free work lunches - :( as it's saved me money on making my own lunch, but :) as the lunches were mostly on the border between 'just about OK' and 'really poor'. :rotfl:

    4) Veg tagine for dinner - the sauce is from a jar, but it's an Approved Food jar so I'm accepting that as money saving. :money:

    5) Having this thread on hand to dip into - it's always so nice to see what everyone else is up to. :)

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Welcome to all the newbies and returners!
Nuttybabe - You poor thing I hope you get better very very soon

Sorry I didn't get around to posting last night but the interview ended up being later than planned and then I needed to speak to the agency. After that I finally got some food and lo and behold my mum rang. It ended up being quite a late one in the end.

Anyhoo the interview went very well even if we did have a little fun with some Dutch translations...however it seems that I would have to move to the Hague for at least a year and a half....if not longer  I wasn't too sure how I came across and was convinced I'd fluffed it by the end. The agency rang this morning and apparently they were raving about me and my professional experience and how I would be a great match.:D They will be interviewing a Dutch person on the 8th August and will be getting back to me on the 12th. If all goes well they want me to go across for a few days for a face to face interview and to look around. They also told the agency guy that I might be a match to another position they have so they're going to try and set up another interview for that one :j

    1) All of the above - it was so nice to hear some positive reactions to my qualifications and experience - it reinforces my opinion that my current company are undervaluing me
    2) Lovely chat with my mum
    3) NSD
    4) On offer gammon steak for dinner
    5) Sticking to my healthy eating plan :A

Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them

Carolyntia - Well done on such a great interview, will keep fingers crossed
Nuttybabe - Sorry to hear you are not feeling too good again

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Good day in the office and laughing until it hurt at the antics of my friend J
    2. DD cycling to Tesco for me to get some onions I needed. Also made sure I didn't spend any extra money
    3. Lovely Roast Chicken for dinner, unfortunetly didn't manage to hide the left over chicken quick enough  so not as much left as I wanted for sandwiches tomorrow.
    4. Managed to get some washing line dried today, phoned DD to bring it in just as starting to rain.
    5. Nice chat with my dad tonight and him telling me he had won £500. Very pleased for him

Hugs to all who need them

Evening and thank you for the welcome.

    Five little happies for today;

    1. Finding a nutritionist/personal trainer who is willing to help me. Sorting both out would mean a whole new lease of life and being able to get out and about again.

    2. Deep cleaning my washing machine with soda crystals and white wine vinegar as suggested on the board - it certainly works!

    3. Indulging in an afternoon nap for two whole hours. :o

    4. Achieving my work targets for today.

    5. Finally getting the laundry dry.

    Welcome newbies :hello:

ampersand I love St Omer, spent many happy hours sitting outside the tabac overlooking the mairie watching the world go by. We used to go across (or through the tunnel in later years) just for the drive, and to sit there soaking up the atmosphere.
Carolyntia so pleased the interview went well, have everything x'd for you. Sounds very positive, they want your experience :)
nuttybabe I agree with everyone else, get well now!
Reverbe I think finding a rose head and using it for a display is just as good as doing a Reverbe - after all the rose would have cost perhaps £2-3? Which you'd never have afforded, and you got a beautiful display for free :T. Not to mention a free loo cleaner and a drink!

    1. A gift I ordered for my friends birthday, which was on Monday, arrived today. Typical snail mail but it's so pretty I'm sure she won't mind
    2. Lovely neighbour put out, and took in again, my wheelie bin. I'm so lucky, both sides are always so helpful and never ask anything in return :)
    3. The cats haven't attempted to sharpen their claws on the new leather sofas so far. I'm watching them like a hawk and have a water spray handy just in case ;)
    4. Mended the strap of a jimjam top which has been waiting for ages - took me all of 2 minutes and I can wear a favourite pair of jimjams again
    5. Looking at my bank statement on line. I used to be terrified to open letters from the bank, now I actually enjoy it! :D

    Night night, sleep well

Morning all - it's another grey and damp one, but never mind. I'm wondering whether or not to chance laundry on line.
Yes sparrer, I know exactly what you mean - can be there in my head at any time, which is the next best thing. The gar who told me the town broc was the week previous also touched me for 2 euros to eat something...
Carolyntia - i/v response sounds exceptional. It has to be good.
Ladyhawk - any news for yours?
Chickenopolis[name says much:-)] - Welcome! I have raspberry-trained blackbirds for similar 'help'.

    1. Five sample tubes[50ml]of sproncey toothpaste from Dentist hier.
    2. Mummy?s son is 7 today and I am at Addenbrookes anyway, so will see them both.
    3. Hair is slightly darker than last time but I like it and it was scrupulously trimmed to last until I rtn in September. I don't like having any cut, but know it's necessary.
    4. Onto Mr T, with more Mobile problems in a phone that was top of Nokia range[C3]when I had it in Feb...F is another sweet lass there and she made lengthy calls to HO and Nokia, to learn that yes, phone does NOT do 3 basic things that it says on the tin. It was their one model with software glitches and loss of basics, never overcome.....tbc. The pleasure is in finding it wasn't me being silly, inept.
    5. Saw reduced meat in a woman's trolley and returned to that happy end of aisle. Had already phoned L in next village re:local carrots down from £2 to 10p - 'Yes please, I haven't any atm'. As usual, she has extras staying and more arriving. Did a mighty £9.98 shop for over £85 of meat/fish/deli- much Mr T Finest. All perfect for freezing and delivered by 11pm. It feels good when these things happen.
    6. A great postcard[lovely pic.] - thankyou, name noted :-), ykwya.
    7. Leaving L's, braked for a rather large hedgehog who suddenly darted from under a 5-bar gate, then proceeded to sit and have something of a Major General Scrubby in middle of road. He then couldn't decide which way to go and made several false starts before returning whence etc. Made v. sure he wasn't dashing out again before I carried on. His turn of speed was startling and I remembered that hedghogs can surprise in this way.
    8. Finished a Patricia Hall book, whose reliably more than competent, skilled observation was heightened by the current Murdoch methods exposure.
    9. Will rtn this to Library today and choose more.

9-y sort of 5 isn't bad for me...away to re-zap coffee, sort baguette. Have done the lemon and orange with which I start each day.
