    Hi all

    A few pleasures for today:

1 - Started the book I bought on amazon but hated it. My friend loves it so she said she will buy it off me.

2 - Instead of wasting my time reading that book and grinding my teeth I decided to go for an aerobics class instead. It was great fun and very hard work!

3 - Went to pick up my camping tent at Millets (in the shop) because the Millets delivery people messed up my delivery. So I got it not only at sale price but at an extra 10% discount for the inconvenience.

4 - The "Greek Style" 10% fat yogurt at the Turkish shop has gone back to £4.99 for 2.5 Kg - bargain (if you think that the Greek yogurt in the supermarket costs £2.20 for 0.5 Kg!).

5 - Nice lunch of Turkish olives and a large bowlful of yogurt with nuts.

6 - 5 Kg bag of onions from the market for £1.75 - will last a few weeks, hopefully! We use lots of onions and garlic in our cooking.

7 - A friend is visiting tonight and we will have curry (she is bringing the coriander and lemons).

Have a good evening all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Evening all from a particularly soggy Ladyhawk :(

I was working in London today and at 4pm decided to head home as I have a mile to walk from the office to the station and it was starting to look a little dark. As soon as I stepped foot out side the door the heavens opened and within seconds I was soaked to the skin. :( Luckily it wasn't too cold.
    5.picked up a cake container/carrier in £1 shop

Ooh - I want one! My tins are barely presentable.

Ampersand - thanks for asking about the interview - we are still trying toset up the video conference. Think it will not probably be on Monday or Tuesday now.

    1) Popped into TM Lewin on the way into the office and bought two new work shirts (reduced from £70). Unfortunately in the downpour completely destroyed the bag they came in and they dropped out of the bottom. Luckily I realised and managed to retrieve them from the pavement. Unfortunately I lost the cufflinksm so I am going to write to their customer service department and explain the situation and hopefully they will be replaced.

    2) Lunch was provided at one of my meetings.

    3) Snuggled up on the sofa in my fluffy dressing gown

    4) Early night I think tonight - I was awake at 2.30am this morning trying to sort the interview out and I have an early morning tomorrow.

    5) Finished the fish pie.... I was very bored of it!! but it did taste good.

    Night night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Another week of lying low but today's pleasures have been:-

    1. First of the autumn fruiting raspberries on homemade yogurt.

    2. Homemade rolls in the Remoska. These break every rule of bread making, no kneading, no proving but are delicious.

    3. A chat over the garden fence with my neighbour who I rarely see.

    4. All lists written and ready for my holiday.

    5. 4 x 2 portion meals of Spaghetti Bolognaise from 500g mince and two handfuls of lentils.

    Bella.

    Evening all.

nuttybabe - I really hope your sister is right and you're on the mend now.

Ladyhawk - how frustrating that the interview is taking so much effort to set up. :( Fingers crossed all the effort will be worth it in the end.

Frith - the OS forum is a good indication that there are many uses for a lentil, and it's good of your DS to come up with another one! ;):)

Carolyntia - that's great news about the interview. :j Best of luck with the next interview - it sounds like they're determined to have you one way or another. :)

    Pleasures for today:

    1) The NHS. Everyone knows that it's A Good Thing, but, like most good things, I find I often don't appreciate it until I really need it - in this case when I realised that the pain I've been getting under my arm is due to an abcess. :( I popped into the walk-in centre near my office first thing this morning, and walked out again 15 minutes later with a prescription for antibiotics that should start sorting things out within 24 hours.

    2) Being reminded that, for all its faults, Portsmouth is a wonderfully friendly city. I particularly enjoyed chatting to the guy on the fruit stall in the market about the problems he's having selling fresh cherries - because he'd rather eat them than sell them. :rotfl:

    3) Picked up a load of fruit and veg seeds very cheap (75% off) in Wilkinsons, including some unusual varieties that I'm really looking forward to growing next year.

    4) Discovering that, if I take an Open University course this year (which I've been thinking about doing), I can take my final course next year and only pay the fees they're charging this year, which is likely to save me several thousand pounds. :money:

    5) Picked the first of my HG peas, which got eaten straight from the pod.

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening

I have been a bit  today thanks to the very carp customer service at Halfords. Was supposed to pick my new bike up at 2 today and didn't get out of the shop until about 3.15 only for the back brakes not to work as hadn't been tightened properly and the chain to fall off on the way home. I couldn't put the chain back on either as has a chain guard so finished up walking home pushing the bike. Also discovered the back wheel is slightly buckled. Needless to say it is going back to the shop tomorrow and will be asking for a refund.

OK rant over, pleasures for today:
    1. Walked to work this morning and most of the way home so no travel costs today
    2. Tasty sandwich for lunch, not strictly MSE but I enjoyed it
    3. HM fish and chips for dinner. This also mean't I used something else from the freezer
    4. £3 luncheon voucher in the post today
    5. DD getting the washing in before it got soaked

Hugs to all who need them

Wow , thank you all for the warm welcome!

My 5 OS pleasures for today are:-

    1. Starting to read a new library book, by an author that I like. I am not that keen on fiction as a rule.

    2. Online grocery shop using a £10 off voucher.

    3. Chinese meal with OH which was a treat from my Mum. I made the egg fried rice as I prefer our "luminous" eggs .

    4. Lots of watchers but no actual bidders on my ebay item. I would like some bids at some point though..still some interest is better than no interest.

    5. Giving away some of our fresh eggs and potatoes to a relative who I know will enjoy them. I am a "giver" and a "feeder" and find it hard to accept things from other people , the pleasure for me is in the giving and I truly want nothing in return. Apart from the Chinese meal mentioned above ,to refuse this would have been just so WRONG !!:rotfl:

    5 for today...

    1) Went into town and managed to get the bits for my sister's fancy dress costume for her 30th party on Saturday. So you can guess how I felt walking out of Poundland with a halo and fairy wand! (She's going to be the tooth fairy!)

    2) Sainsburys with no sons.

    3) School picnic in the sunshine.

    4) Sons went to play tennis with my brother. Smaller son is ambidextrous so never has to hit a backhand! Its very confusing watching him.

Hmm, that's it. Only 4 which is strange because it wasn't a bad day.

Oooh, I do have another smaller son sentence! This evening I got:

"Mum.... Did they have spaceships when you were alive?"

    :-D
