Evening all. Had a good day today, quite productive again.
- made lasagne with bolognese sauce from yday
- will make mozzarella, tomato & basil salad for lunch tomorrow
- woke up 30 mins before alarm went off! Did I get up so that I could pick up my prescription before work? No. I decided to go back to sleep for another half an hour. Which also didn't go according to plan  I WILL get up and go to the pharmacy if I do the same again tomorrow!
- trying to make a to do list and fill in my diary...
- phoned up local beauty salon place to find out opening times so I can book a massage I got with kgb deals

(((CCP))) so sorry to hear about your fright, but pleased no-one was hurt physically.
Ladyhawk and Tealady well done on the sun walk :T
Been awol for a coiuple of days since DM arrived, busy with family visits and all the usual must do's when you have a visitor.
1. Having DM here for a week
2. Big family lunch out on Sunday, the restaurant even gave DM a bottle of wine for her birthday - which was at the end of May but it's the first time all the family could get together at the same time.
3. For my b/day today DGD2 made me a gorgeous strawberries and cream sponge cake.
4. Just as DM and I finished clearing up after dinner this evening my 3 dearest friends turned up unexpectedly, it really ended my b/day on a high note:)
5. Seeing next door's kitten for the first time, he's adorable!
Hugs, night night, sweet dreams

:bdaycake:Sparrer - is it your birthday today? HAPPY BIRTHDAY!0
-
Frith thank you, yes it is/was, keeping them a bit low key now, or trying to! x0

Happy Birthday dear Sparrer xx Don't keep it quiet, we like celebrating
I shall have to have a celebratory pain au chocolat (oh, another one?!?
) in your honour for breakfast, lol.

Well, again just lost post:mad:while attaching your belated birthday cake, sparrer. That was far too low-key, so have another Bonne Anniversaire!
[or there'll be more olive oil soap to use up by way of a detention.]
1. Another v.g. trial night in tent. Soft pitter of shower on outer skin in wee small hours was lovely. So snug and roomy. You and boys will have a grand time, Frith. Have you done it en famille before? It's good that you'll be at your brother's on a just-in-case basis, if it's 1st time.
2. Owls, rustlings, small creature noises and more distant trees/leaves soughing are good, good, good.
3. I see it's late, but will shortly return to tent in this grey and gloomy morning[had no idea in tent] for brekkers, coffee and read. Last night's Thermos is untouched - just slept comfortably, thanks to sleeping mat.
4. Waited outside Waitrose yesterday while England won 1st Test. Unexpectedly, Tuffers manages Geoffrey Boycott beautifully and was delicious, passionate, informative, on the wiles, mind games, brain teases a bowler must employ to get inside a batsman's head. Sometimes, JA huffpuffs in slight embarrassment at some forthright GB utterance, but none of this matters. The new team have a cohesion which continues to gel and settle. [I'm not sounding so very francophile now, I note:o:D]
5. Buttterflies seem to like dancing from buddleias to my blue tent. They look beautiful at rest, wings fanned, artily spaced and placed:D - 5 at one point yesterday.
6. Long call to Uncle and Aunt in NZ yesterday. Actually said I was saving to visit again next year. I never declare such things up front, so am heartened that I can possibly still change and not feel that others' goals/needs have to take precedence. Had a big shock to see change in airfares from 4 years ago though....it will be a huge job, requiring much more than the £12 wkly I'm putting from pension into a specific a/c.On verra.Wishing everyone their ideal day.

6. another Europa league win (whatever happened to the lady who was also a Fulham fan- cant recall her handle)What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Happy Day after your birthday Sparrer! I'm loving the sound of your cake!
1.Positive day at work after a very early start. I have been up since 4.15am which is far too early!
2.However, I managed to speak to my sister on the phone as I was up so early so that was a bonus!
3.Parent-teacher appointment at DD2's school, so she had a day off & a very good meeting.
4.Then she went to see the free tutor at library & because we were running late as her teacher was running late for our appointment, tutor had taken next appointment earlier so she got an extra half an hour as we were now last! She took the time to explain some areas of maths that were troubling DD2.
5.Just in from being out for a lovely dinner!0 -
Evening all.
My car woes continue. I was told when I bought my new car (only a week ago) that it had a small chip in the windscreen, but it was so tiny I couldn't even see it. Now, just like in the adverts, the chip has turned into a crack and I have to have my windscreen replaced. Bang goes my no claims discount!
Anyway, pleasures:
1) After many months of searching I've finally found a replacement for my sister's favourite mug which she broke at the end of last year. It's great timing, too, as she's coming to visit on Saturday.
2) Despite very black skies I managed to pick up my car from the garage (where it had gone for the minor repairs necessary after Sunday's incident), drop a letter off at the letting agent, and still get home before it rained.
3) Picked my first HG tomato of the year. :j
4) Only one more day of these horrible antibiotics. They've done wonders for the abscess but the constant headache isn't a great improvement.
5) One of my favourite lazy dinners tonight - spicy beans on cheesy toast.
Reverbe - I haven't had calamari in ages. I'll have to see if I can go somewhere that sells it when my sister comes to visit as I really fancy some now.
ampersand - I love your description of your butterfly-decorated tent - it sounds wonderful!
sparrer - a belated happy birthday to you, if I haven't already said it. :bdaycake: (I'm sorry that's not as good as ampersand's cake!)
Carolyntia - my fingers are firmly crossed for you for Thursday.
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi all,
CCP, I sympathise - my car failed its MOT yesterday and still isn't right even though apparently a new sensor got it closer to being in the box. Hoping they'll be able to fix it tomorrow, but dreading the bill!
Here's my 5, a little earlier than normal, to see if I can cheer myself up.
1. DS and I walked into town but got the bus back as a treat for him and so I could see how practical living without a second car would be. Answer: probably took as long after waiting for bus and walking home from stop as walking would have been and cost £1.60 :-(. But journey was pleasant and chatted to a nice lady.
2. Managed to identify the trees with bright red berries growing on a nearby street as Rowans. Apparently you can't eat the berries though!
3. Bought some vegetable rennet to try making mozzarella with sometime after inspiration from a post a few days ago.
4. Nice and easy egg noddle stir fry for dinner
5. About to go on a nice walk with my familyMust get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!0
