Typical - I was just thinking about how I haven't lost a post in ages... and there I go and lose one!

    Happy belated birthday Nuttybabe!

    1) I decided not to go to badminton today (something to do with the wine I drank last night which clearly must have been off) - so NSD!

    2) NPD

    3) Tidied the flat

    4) Cuddles with kitty

    5) Made a highly calorific fish pie for supper - loads of cream and cheese.

    Have a great week

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening all

    1) Decidely better weather today
    2) Spending my euromillions win on a £3 vase for my bargain flowers
    3) Another very relaxing day
    4) Using up food from the fridge/cupboard before I start my healthy eating plan
    5) Phone call from the ex so I could speak to the dog :o - apparently he fell down a hole last week - ex took him to the vets and got him some painkillers but apparently he took to his bed for a couple of days (tucked in with a duvet by the ex :D) - he's right as rain now and trotted off out into the garden after our 'chat'

Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them

    Hiya Everyone

Thank you. I did have a good birthday. Although since then things have gone down hill!!! :( I didnt drink much last night but was up 3 times throwing up in night, and then felt really ill with stomache pains this morning so rang nhs direct who told me to go to walk in centre if symptons hadnt improved in a few hours!! then we bought a kitchen tap as we havent been able to use the cold for about a year. but the bodge job that was done by kitchen direct 3 years ago meant it took us 3 hours to swap taps and now there is a leak so have had to turn the water off. hubby has put some putty stuff round but if that doesnt work when we turn water back on i dont know what we will do! and even though i am feeling better than earlier i am still in pain so looks like i will be off to walk in centre tomorrow!!! :( moan over.

Dont think I am going to get 5 today

    1. a lie in

    2. all the happy birthdays from you lovely people :D

    3. whoopsie cheese topped rolls for 10p

    4. had a nap this afternoon

i am hoping i can come back later with one......

Oh dear Nuttybabe, what a horrible end to your birthday, many happy belated returns xx :)

Well, I missed posting yesterday as I was away :)

    1. Went to my old school town with OH for a friend's 40th birthday drinks :)
    2. OH and I stayed at a Pr$mier Inn and were really impressed, not least because the room was only £29 and they kindly changed our booking from a standard to a disabled room with no quibbling
    3. Thanks to OH's blue badge, we were able to park outside the birthday party bar :)
    4. Thanks to my new boots I managed to drive for hours without being in stupid amounts of pain, think I've solved a big problem! Might feel funny driving in the heat in ankle boots, but it'll be worth it!
    5. DD met OH's son yesterday, they're both so cute
    6. DD stayed with my parents and had a lovely time :):)
    7. OH and my mum taught DD and I a new card game this afternoon, fantastic :)

    Hello Everyone

I used to be a regular poster on this thread and then life and illness got in the way but having seen it I am keen to join in again as it gave me such a lovely feeling at the end of the day to list all my pleasures.

    • A nap
    • Coffee and cake with friends (at theirs)
    • Finished reading my book
    • Thought about what colours to decorate my home
    • Helped a stranger
Look forward to catching up with you all again :D

    Good evening all

Oh Nuttybabe, I am so sorry to hear about your illness and also your plumbing misadventures. I hope everything, health and taps, gets resolved for the best very very soon (((HUGS)))

Very interesting day today and here are my blessings:

1 - Breakfast in bed courtesy of DH

2 - Went with DH to Italian religious procession (Our Lady of the Carmel) and street feast. It was wonderful! Italians everywhere, Italian music, Italian food, I felt really at home, it was just like being in Italy. DH found it very interesting (he is English).

3 - Although today for the first time I went off the rails diet-wise since 1st February, it was not in a tragic, eat-seven-tubs-of-icecream-and-three-pizzas-at-once type of binge. Had apple fritters, two glasses of prosecco, a small portion of vegetable lasagne and a piece of cake. All things that I should not eat on my low carb but what the heck, it felt so normal to be at a street party and eat like a normal person after all this time. I know that from tomorrow I can remedy to the small excesses and do not feel guilty at all. In fact, I thoroughly enjoyed the food!

4 - Found the Seeds of Italy stall among the others and bought three packets of veg that I can grow in Autumn ("scarola lettuce", pak choi and white stem swiss chard - in Italian it is called "bieta" and it is delicious!).

5 - On our way back got a call from DD who was with her BF at a nearby pub so we joined them for a drink (I had tap water!). We spent a lovely hour together and it was the right end to a lovely day out.

6 - As we approached home we met a lady who I know from meeting in the street, she was walking her dogs and we stopped and chatted and petted the dogs. Then from round the corner DS and his friends appeared and they stopped and chatted and petted the dogs. It felt like a flashmob mini street party!

    7 - Home sweet home.

    Good night all! x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • I think you can't beat the free things in life like :-
Sat reading in the peace and quiet of your own back garden on a sunny day
walking barefoot along the beach throwing stones into the sea
walking through the woods when it's autumn kicking up the leaves
being the first in the winter to make footprints in fresh snow
getting home and closing the door the moment it pores with rain
And laying in the grass on a sunny day and looking up at the clouds listening to the birds

So true, facelessmasses. Welcome to you and welcome back Rummer. :hello::hello:

(((Nuttybabe))) that's such bad luck. Hope things pick up quickly.

    My five pleasures for Sunday:

    1. Catching up on the phone with my youngest sister.

    2. Having a much needed mid-afternoon nap (I'm still recovering from a new batch of food intolerances and it's left me wiped so it's good to give in to the exhaustion and sleep).

    3. Using the timer: 5 mins being active/5 mins resting, to get jobs done round the house and supper on the table.

    4. Doing some more reading for work and making yet more useful discoveries.

    5. The DSs being helpful.

    Sleep well.

    Evening,

I'm trying to get more work-life balance at the moment as recently it has been more work-work and not much life. With this in mind I have looked at the OS way again.

Here are my 5 OS pleasures for today:
    • Got up very early and fixed my dripping toilet cistern;
    • Gave my kitchen a really good clean - its sparkling and my sink is shining!
    • Installed anti-virus software on my laptop - mine had expired and my sister bought a disc that can be used on up to 3 pcs so I had the second & third installs (she only has one and I did make a contribution);
    • Was on my own for lunch and used up lots of things from the fridge and it was really tasty;
    • Made a banana loaf using a recipe from the "Thrifty Ways" book. I have never made it before and it is brilliant!

Sorry to hear you are poorly, Nuttybabe.
Kittikins - that sounds like a particularly splendid weekend!

Here are my 5 or so:

    1) Bigger son at a sleepover so smaller son (who follows his mother) and I actually got a lie in! We woke up at 9.40. :-) Bigger son made me laugh because of course he woke up hours and hours before everyone else at the sleepover house so got up and finished his friend's Lego model while everyone else slept!

    2) Smaller son went to his father's for the day so I had a child free day - first time they have both been to their father's since April... (he picked bigger son up from the sleepover).

    3) Did some admin for my sister.

    4) Popped to mum and dad's to borrow some allen keys.

    5) Started clearing the living room for the forthcoming building work. Got a bit carried away and not only put everything under my bed and under the stairs and dismantled the TV cabinet, but also took the plaster off one wall!

    6) Nice emails from 2 guardian soulmates chappies. One very jolly and one rather intense.

Hopefully above is a link to what I've been up to in the living room. Hmmm, I bet you're all wanting to come for a cup of tea now!!!
