Happy Birthday, Nuttybabe :bdaycake:As my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0
-
Today's five:-
1. Doing supermarket shop and coming in £15 under budget :j my super frugal exploits are paying dividends.
2. Too wet to pick salad for lunch so had homemade soup from the freezer.
3. Sorted the freezer to put all the homemade ready meals to take on holiday in one drawer.
4. Made more soup with bits and pieces pulled out of freezer, chicken stock and some Aldi sweet potatoes, oh and the peelings from tonights and tomorrows vegetables.
5. Got tempted by the half price cornettos I have in the freezer, mmmmmm.... Had it been a nice day we would have taken them out to eat on a country walk. It's wet so we've had them at home instead...., and dinner was cheap - chicken liver (45p) in a tomatoey sauce with homegrown potatoes and wilted beetroot leaves.

Here are 5 or so for today so far.
1) Builder came round and will be starting work on the 25th! Which means all my furniture will have to be taken to mum and dad's sheep barn and stored away from the 24th.
2) Graze box came in the post and has been very pleasant.
3) Sister came round for a cup of tea.
4) Helped at the village fete.
5) Had tea cooked by mum.
6) Have been invited on a date next week. :rotfl:0 -
Good evening all
Happy birthday to Nuttybabe!
Lovely pleasures and blessings today:
1 - Free tickets to go and see a preview of Horrible Bosses (went with friend). Very funny!
2 - 50% off lunch with said friend, very good Italian restaurant, super-cheap!
3 - Free tickets to see ballet Romeo and Juliet at ENO, fantastic, very moving (still with friend).
4 - Discounted coffee (using card) after ballet and nice long chat with friend
5 - Looking at the sunset between the clouds as I type.
Have a good night all xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all
It hasn't been the best day on the east coast of Scotland...rain and sea fog all day
1) Finding some more 83p roses
2) Won £2.90 on the euromillions
3) Using up veggies from the bottom of the fridge for dinner with left over mince
4) Getting the ironing done very quickly
5) Very relaxing day
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them

1. Started to iron the folds out of a new pair of lounge curtains but found the decorative pleats were sewn in correctly one end but upside down the other end! Had by then removed the pole, rings etc for cleaning, and put the first of the old curtains in the machine. Phoned the shop and can take the new ones back for a full refund tomorrow, meanwhile the old ones look so much better now that I've decided to keep them, saving £80
2 Lovely quiet day at home, a little housework this morning - but not too much of course- and watching old films on television this afternoon, no money spent, no petrol used
.
3. Cooked a chicken in the microwave which will make 8 meals plus sandwiches, soup and stock. The fat is lovely for roasting tatties and the jelly goes into the soup, delicious
4. Dug up a garlic which is quite small but will do for several meals, including a couple of cloves roasted with dinner tomorrow
5. No curtains up in the lounge yet so have gone to bed early. Saves a little bit of electricity. All in all a fair OS day
Night night, sweet dreams, hugs

Evening.
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Taking DS1 to meet up with friends in another town for a couple of hours so I spent the time in the local museum filling in some gaps in my knowledge and having time to really look at some stuff very closely.
2. Buying a useful work-related book at the museum from their second-hand shelves for 50p.
3. Having a wander around a very well-stocked card making supplies shop nearby and not buying anything.
4. Being able to pass on some good news to my Dad.
5. Having a late afternoon nap.
Sweet dreams

2. Lovely soak in the bath afterwards

4. THe brood all coming back having had wonderful times

Nuttybabe: hope you had a great birthday!
1.Another early wake up but chatted on phone to my friend who I normally speak to on a Saturday morning. So it was her Saturday night. Blethered for 2 hours! Not particularly money saving but very pleasant! However, I do get $700 'free' credit for $45, so I probably used about $200 of free chat.
2.Then I watched Casualty on iplayer .
3.Then I went out for a Sunday scone. Then went shopping & was well under budget even with buying a new slow cooker. The one I had was a tiny one I got free with a catalogue years ago and was just too small. So got a biggie & dinner is cooking slowly as I type!
4.Home for a while & did some cooking! Made a chorizo sausage tomato-y,veggie ragu type thing which we'll have for dinner tomorrow & then made spicy pumpkin soup for dinner tonight & OH prepared the steak & sausage to go in slow cooker for dinner tonight ....just waiting on roast potatoes! Got some RTC profiteroles for pud!
5. Popped back out for a mooch around an outlet mall. Got a hoodie for DS & a fleece for DD2. Then we went to see the local kangaroo mob. I just love to watch them.
6.Library books were due back today but tried to renew online but 1 of DD2's had already been renewed so couldn't do it again. So just had to go out in cold, wet rain & hand them in! The pleasure being I won't get a fine!
anyway better go & check my roasties....have a good day!
back to school tomorrow, so early night all round I think!0
