Tomorrow is a big day in the house of VJ's mum and dad - OH is worried that his meeting with his boss will result in redundancy (or sacking but he can't think of any reason he should be sacked:huh: ) We have been here before and in all honesty, I think redundancy will be ok, assuming he gets the payout he should). We shall see

    anyway, back to today

    1. hangover finally went after having coffee with friend
    2. opened my "secret" building society account - although i feel like a criminal.
    3. did 10 minute tidies in every room and house seems quite sorted.
    4. Made weetabix cake to make use of the oven being on
    5. Two loads of washing line dried.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

CCP I second Kittikins suggestion of a gold ring. Hope it goes away Now!
VJsmum keeping everything x'd that whichever way tomorrow goes, it'll be in your and OH's favour
Caterina your produce sounds amazing. Mine is all well rotted now cos LO next door keeps reaching across the fence with their garden hose and watering everything for me :(. Enjoy!

    1. Good pulm exercise class this morning, and had an assessment with a view to going on a more intensive course twice a week from Aug.
    2. Visited DD afterwards, her OH and DGD1 were there, a nice surprise to see them. DGD1 has got a placement working at a Summer camp with 5-15 y/o's which will be a big bonus for her course :)
    3. Took a lot of cardboard packaging from my new furniture and DD'd new bedroom flooring to the recycling centre.
    4. Yet more freecycling this aftermoon
    5. Out with friends this evening, one gave me a copy of his new cd - if it's anything like the last one it's brilliant :)

    Sweet dreams

Evening all. Five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Having a beautifully clean house (at least on the surface) and a tidy (enough) garden.

    2. Making a very tasty soup for supper with butter, onions, celery, carrots and cauliflower - all organic. The flavours were so intense that I didn't use any stock and it didn't need any seasoning. I love it when food tastes so good it can be left to stand alone in all its simplicity.

    3. Having the back door open with the really hot sunshine outside and the cold stone floor cooling my bare feet.

    4. Having a long chat with DS1 reminiscing about when he was a baby and a toddler.

    5. Becoming the owner of a copy of 'The Complete Tightwad Gazette' - inspirational reading beckons.

    Sleep well

    1. Lovely BBQ at some friends of OH.
    2. Lots of washing done and dried on the line outside
    3. DD helping to tidy up yesterday
    4. Lovely free lunch with champagne at work yesterday just a shame it was a retirement lunch for one of the nicest people in our business. He used to be my boss and was so lovely.
    5. Catching up with the people I used to share an office with at the lunch, they no longer work for the same company so was nice to see them and catch up with each others news.

Ladyhawk; After husband had his breakdown and lost his job then I became his carer.
We lost alot of income, thats when we decided to change the way we live and get rid of our debt.
We started making our own bread, cooking everything from scratch, growing some vegs, making presents, and we dont buy a thing unless its a NEED.
Have been getting rid of things by ebay freecycle or CS. Sisters though people would talk about them because of me bringing the family down, told them people have there own problems and dont care what I do.

1; Some nice HM bread for breadfast

    2;
Having our own tomatoes with lunch today

3; Washing blowing in the breeze, hope to get it dry but lots of cloud over head.

4; Spare bedroom was so cluttered, have started to empty it completely and then I will only put back what I need in there and get rid of the rest.
( that should keep me busy all week )
5; Listening to some lovely music and having a beautiful smelling candle lit while I am clearing the room.

    Sending postive thoughs to everyone.

Thanks, everyone, for your good wishes. He's just rung and had totally got his knickers in a twist (although not helped by the organisation's shoddy way of going about things) and all they want is for him to work on a special "hush hush project".

    I'm almost disappointed :D

    Hi all

Sparrer, sorry about your veg, can you not tell your neighbours to be more sparing with their watering?

Frith, ok, the worst is over and done, I hope that after this first meet you feel ok about moving on. From now on other accidental meets will be less and less distressing until you reach a point of blissful indifference (((HUGS)))

Here are my blessings for today:

1 - Very early start of the day, made breakfast for DH and his cousin who stays with us occasionally as he has work in London. He does not always eat a healthy breakfast and loved my homemade baked beans.

2 - Dentist check up, everything ok and she was very pleased with the way I have been treating my teeth (PHEW!).

3 - Repotted some chives and mint that were languishing in a moss-covered pot and seeded rocket in a spare area of my garden (who wants to pay £1 per packet for a weed?)

4 - Laundry done, bedroom tidied up, dinner made.

5 - DS found a relatively cheap flight ticket to visit a friend in Hungary, he is really pleased and I am pleased for him.

6 - DH and I agreed not to go to Zumba tonight as we are both quite tired and instead we will go and take care of the allotment, it probably needs watering as the clouds that promised rain did not open up after all.

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all.

VJsmum - what a relief about your OH - but what a ridiculously worrying way for the company to go about things!

    1) I found some antiseptic wipes which my optician gave me some time ago and thought I'd use them on my dodgy eye - and it seems to have worked! :j

    2) NSD - that's two in a row, which is vanishingly rare for me. :o

    3) I went to test-drive a car today and the showroom offered me a different one - the same model but slightly newer and with lower mileage - for the same price, AND will buy my ready-for-the-scrapyard old one as well. I'm more than happy with that! :D (The showroom did make me smile with their trusting ways, though - they gave me the car and the car keys and told me to take it for a run, without knowing anything about me other than my first name. They might have had trouble explaining that to the police if I'd turned out to be a car thief! :rotfl:)

    4) I really fancy pizza tonight and have some in the freezer, left over from a BOGOF offer, so I'm not tempted to resort to a takeaway. :money:

    5) My good deed for the day - advising a lost French tourist how to get to the seafront and where he could find a decent restaurant. :A

    Have a good evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    hi Everyone,

Seems lik I didn't manage to post my pleasures from yesterday... must have been something to do with being asleep by 8.30pm!!

    So for yesterday
    1) Up early to catch the train to Grimsby... managed to get parked at work and walked over to the station by 6.30am

    2) Sitting in the sun at Doncaster Station waiting for the connection.

    3) Supplier bought me lunch - tortilla wrap from Costa.

    4) Painted my nails... a rare treat

    5) Bought myself some lovely flowers to cheer myself up

    So what about today...

    1) Nice cup of tea with our CSR manager. He suggested that I get in touch with the former MD from our Australian business who recently moved to the HQ and who I have met a few times. Hopefully he will put in a good word for me for the new job...

    2) Got a nice note from a friend who lives in Swaziland:
One day, you might feel like giving up and you feel like your life is falling to pieces. Call me, text me, anything. I may not be able to put the pieces back together, but I can stand beside you.
One day, you might wish you could just disappear, so that no one knows where you are. Call me or text me. I won't try to stop you, but I can disappear with you.
If one day you realize that you are in love, then the person breaks your heart. I'll be here. I won't be able to bring them back, but I can beat their butts and help you fix your heart.
But one day, if you try to get a hold of me and I don't answer, please find me, because this time I might need you.
Life is to short to live with regrets and worries, so instead of holding it in, let it out! Tell the world how you feel and don't be afraid. you now have ten minutes to tell ten people you'll be there for them. I hope that I get this back, but if I don't, I understand
    3) Lunch with a couple of the PR managers - they are so lovely to chat to.

    4) Picked some sweet peas this morning before work

    5) Yummy cherries for breakfast... I love cherries.

    Night all

    L
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
