hello from soggy Melbourne!
1.Started out as a beautiful morning was almost tempted to hang out washing but forecast was for 'showers' , got tidied up & hung washing all around the house!
2.Had roll & bacon for breakfast, made by OH whilst I ironed. I had made a picnic as we were heading off to:
3.An animal sanctuary for Australian wildlife, kids getting in free so only 2 adults to pay for. We had been before the first time we visited Oz & enjoyed it (it rained then as well!) ,however, I think as we have now seen most of the animals in their own habitat it was a bit of a let down, plus it was cold & oh so very wet! It started off as showers then just before we gave up....OMG it was torrential! We got back to the car soaking wet & frozen
However on the bright side we heard a kookaburra laugh! Still at $50 for me & OH (33 pounds) it was still an expensive couple of hours .....but at least we got 4 kids in for nothing....DS had reverted to being 15 if he was asked! and we had DD2's friend with us. It was a lovely drive up through wine country. Lots of vineyards & orchards.
4.Made mince & tatties for tea, with carrots & turnip mash & roast parsnips. All my veggies were RTC.
Pud was apple & pear crumble made on Friday & reheated.
5. Last night I started reading back my pleasures.....managed a months worth from mid December to end of January.....we have filled over 150 pages from Dec-July! What a lot of happiness!
I am still going on about the weather everyday! But it is good to look back & see how far I have come on my Australian journey. Some of the early entries talk about going on the train for the first time! I remember how nervous I was. How scared I was to drive on the roads now I have my wee car!
I hope you all have a good day,
M x
PS Frith! Hurrah to getting your peeler back0 -
3; Phone calls from my two other sisters who dont bother with me, my other sister rang them said they would like to meet up next week.
( they dont agree about how my OH and I are living to pay off our debt ie; not going out, making homemade presents.)
Just had to say how  I am over this!! They don't speak to you because you have taken responsibility for the situation you are in (which I obviously have no idea about). What business is it of theirs? How do they propose you deal with your debts?
People never fail to astound me. Glad they had the decency to call you at this very trying time.

Hiya
Mine for today
1. A lie in
2. We all walked the dog and then stopped off in the park on the way back and kids were really well behaved and didnt moan too much about the walking
3. Kids played out in garden all afternoon so I managed to clean the kitchen
4. Moving dinning room table round and hoovered, makes it look so much bigger and less cluttered
5. Got the ironing done so uniforms all ready for tomorrow and kids showered so they are all ready for tomorrow as well! lol
Now its time to relax!!!0 -
Evening all.
1) A nice sunny afternoon after a rather gloomy morning.
2) My loaf of spelt bread has turned out to be surprisingly tasty, despite looking something like a large cowpat.(Or, for anyone who's read Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels, dwarf bread.
)
3) My failure to successfully grow sweet peas this year meant I had a spare tub for one of my label-less tomatoes, which has turned out to be a trailing variety which really doesn't belong in a grow bag.
4) Made a cheese and onion quiche for dinner - it's the first time I've tried and it smells exactly like the one my DM used to make when I was a kid.
5) Pub quiz tonight.
Have a good evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Had a very long lie-in this morning
2. Painkillers are working, so long as I remember to take them on time! (not enamoured of the tummy ache that seems to have started since starting them, but its better than leg ache!)
3. Lovely chat with my friend before she left, and took away a load of books I wanted to pass on
4. DD returned this afternoon
5. I've just done a survey to earn some LV
6. No petrol day
7. Went supermarket shopping with my neighbour and we split some fruit and veg between us
8. Making a lovely no-fat dinner
9. The sunshine
10. OH texted to say he's making headway with his saxaphone playing, can't wait to be serenaded
Feeling a bit tired and nauseous so think a VERY early night is in order, want to be fresh for whatever the week has in store0 -
Dee no need for thanks
. I just feel that, for me, if I sort out the big issues the lesser ones fall into line. I hope your OH took the news reasonably well, if you can show him you're positive about it and let him think it's under control hopefully it shouldn't be too upsetting.
Ladyhawk how I agree about other people 's interference! Makes me . Dee's being very OS
mhags I love bacon rolls! Had to go out for some rolls this morning so I could have one for lunch..there goes today's sensible eating. All your fault(thanks, I enjoyed every crumb)
1. Thanks to a link on one of the forums I learned to save shower water by standing in a big w/u bowl when I shower. It then goes into a large garden planter (not to be mixed with rain water in the butt) til I need it. I know we've had a good amount of rain but still need to save grey water to cut the water bill
2. Good meeting with friends at lunchtime, plus yummy food brought by everyone
3. Gathered all the candles together from all over the house to store in one cupboard. Prob have enough that I might not need to turn any lights on during the winter evenings!
4. A couple more items taken from my freecycle ad
5. Looking forward to Popstar to Operastar, sorry it's the final though, this series seems to have gone so quickly
Have a good evening, all

Evening all,
CCP - lol at your dwarf bread - glad it tastes nice
I have been a domestic goddess today:A but it did mean that I didn't go to badminton or to the picnic I was supposed to go to in London. It very unlike me to not do something that I said I was going to but the weather has been so changeable and it is a long way to go if it rained.
1) Made 6 jars of jumbleberry jam with some berries from the freezer. I also chucked in 3 jars of damson jam that I made last year but which didn't set. The new jam is a vast improvement!
2) Baked from courgette muffins - they are not brilliant but I have still managed to eat at least 6 of them.
3) I also grated the rest of the courgettes that I picked yesterday and have popped them into the freezer for use another day.
4) Mowed the lawn and did an hour and a bit of weeding in the garden, so it is looking a lot neater. I also planted out my celery seedlings.
5) Chatted to my mum on Skype
6) Warm bath this evening (shaved my legs)
7) ... which will make the clean sheets on my bed feel even more luxurious
8) Made some tomato sauce from a some squidgy tomatoes which were lurking at the bottom of my fridge.
9) Early night for me... I have to leave the flat at 6am to make it up to Grimsby by 10am... bleurgh
10) NSD & NPD
Night night

Haven't had that many pleasures to report lately, but here's my few for today:
1. Last night's tea made today's lunch and dinner. Chilli last night with chips, lunched in toasted sandwiches and tea with pasta and grated cheese. Ah, effectively free food. Tastes much yummier
2. Watching the athletics on TV.
3. Getting started on a a sewing project for a Christmas present. AND having 2 more presents already sorted.
4. Did a yoga workout for the first time in ages yesterday and I feel much better for it today.
5. Writing reviews is helping me to use up beauty products I'd either forgotten I had or was being lazy about using. I'm now feeling a bit better about my drawers and my skin.

What a day!
I think the whole sorry MrN saga is nearly at an end. He sent me an old text accidentally (which really confused me) so I texted back that he had told me he loved me, dumped me a few days later, then got his wife back a few days after that. I just asked him to explain. Well, I don't think he liked that :-/ Apparently she is "just staying til she gets a flat" and the relationship breakdown is solely my fault for "having trust problems". Can't imagine why someone wouldn't trust him!! Aargh.
Anyway, 5 or so for today!
1) Some nice text messages from nice people. People that I trust, strangely enough...
2) Porridge for breakfast.
3) Sons helped me tidy out both bedrooms and hoover.
4) Went to the forest and built a stick house round a tree.
5) School friend came for tea and has just left.
Looking forward to going to see another friend all day tomorrow to help her catch up on her housework.
Ampersand - hope you're not too tired.0 -
Quick five for Sunday:
1. Up really early again to get on with more housework. I'd done loads by 9am. More washing, drying and ironing accomplished. I'm on to things like the big towelling dressing gowns now.
2. Some more rows of knitting.
3. Like you Frith, porridge again for breakfast. There's something very comforting (and cheap) about porridge.
4. House looking even tidier. :T
5. Clean bed to get into.
Sweet dreams
