Christ Birdie! That may well be the ugliest thing I've ever seen!

Has anyone found any sub £40 full price items on the Coast website? Want to use that £30 voucher from the newsletter for a treat.

Found a couple of dresses on there would make lovely beachy wedding dresses (thinking of Birdie):

Ha ha, you guys are so funny with all your chat! Can I just say again, how young are all of you (and yet so mature)! Is there anyone on here remotely near my age (34)?

I'll be 28 in February so one of the older ones really! Was quite upsetting that Cinny said she 'feels about 30' as though it's ancient! :rotfl:

    Tete! Any news on Bruges?

It's back in the frame! Went back and we can get there on the ferry - 2 nights in a private en-suite outside cabin and two nights in the Ibis in Bruges for £158, but OH seems to be taking some convincing and would prefer to go to London for some reason...? But Bruges has ICE SCULPTURES!!

Nope! I was thinking the same, even thinking about some work trousers or something but even with the voucher I'd be paying £50, which I just don't do for work clothes! Nice wedding dresses though!

Birdie - that Rugby Head is so much more than I ever imagined!

I have decided from now on I'm going to weigh in on a Thursday, so there.

Have cut out my main skirt bits, but the waistband is cut on some sort of bias and I wanted to check it with her first. Also need to buy interfacing today, and some lining - I'm going to have to line it, it's way too see-through!

  • Dinah - I've scoured the Coast website and the £30.00 discount isn't such a bargain on their full priced items. Shame because they have some really beautiful clothes!

Bails - Snap! I've just turned 34 too! However I started counting backwards at 30 so 26 really .... :D

Birdie - wow, that rugby head! And your OH tidies YOUR stuff away? Really?

From here I wouldn't guess you were 34 - but then most 34 yo I know aren't traveling the world and planning the quirkiest wedding evaa!
:rotfl:I'm taking that as a compliment!
Personnally I am the other way around I am mature (and yet young).
I am 41 have a 21 year old daughter and a grand daughter who is 8 months today, yet I feel 25 and I think I always will.;)
    :T:T
Thanks for all the age replies, makes me feel a little better! It's amusing (in a nice way)how broody lots of you are too - I've only just got round to being ready in the last couple of months!

:rotfl:What IS the story with that thing?

Hm, I'd mutli-quoted more but they haven't appeared for some reason! Zig, amazing news on clearing your debt and having a ready-made savings pot, fab! :T
Dinah, now I'm REALLY worried as we're having 120 :rolleyes: The drinks package, does that come with the venue or is that something you've priced up yourselves? Of course wed have liked to have done a cheap booze run to France for ours but cheap and Euro no longer go together  I'm thinking mulled wine type thing if we go for October wedding, a paying bar with local barrels of ale and cider, wine, spirits etc for the evening and wine/fizz for the meal. Hopefully on sale or return with free glass hire from Tesco ;)
Got a dilemma about bridesmaids' jewellery on my thread if you want to help...

I still can't get over how young[STRIKE] you [/STRIKE] we all are ;) I'm so impressed you've all found this site - wish I had when I was much younger, as although I haven't been in debt my ex-fiance was and I eventually couldn't take it any more :(

The drinks are from the venue, that's a glass of champagne each at £6.95, a bucks fizz at £3 and a large glass of wine at £3.50, so if you buy the bottles yourself I'm sure you can do 120 people on what I'm doing 84! Its the champagne that does it, but I don't think I could have my wedding without champagne!

Sewing - I spent over 3 hours (me and NIM) ironing pattern pieces and pinning them out, and we're still about 5 pieces short of even being pinned out, let alone cut out and marked out! Are you going to Boyes at lunchtime for your interfacing/lining? If so could you see if they have a tailors chalk pencil and I'll pay you back? My Boyes doesn't stock them. Realised last night my dress needs Bodice lining - need to ask her if I do this in matching material, or a different type. Why didn't it say lining and interfacing on the notions on the outside of the packet is what I want to know!

ETA: Couldn't get hold of NIMs dad, NIM is going to keep trying today. Realistically if he won't or can't help out with at least some of the money for the works that need doing to the house, we're going to have to buy a more expensive but 'finished' house, as we won't be able to get such a huge loan.

I'm glad you all like The Head! If any of you feel like complaining about having your OH's stuff uglying up your house just look at the picture and feel thankful that you don't have to live with the rubbish I do!

I'm not really sure where The Head came from, probably one of his family. He's got all sorts of rugby related tat, just because you play the sport does not mean that every gift you receive has to be related to it! OH saw me uploading the photo yesterday and panicked because he thought I was putting it on ebay, he was only slightly less annoyed when I told him I simply showing it to you girls as proof of how ugly it is!

Thanks for the dress links Dinah, might have to nip into Coast and have a closer look. It'll probably work out cheaper to get it from China though, seems weird that it is cheaper to get a dress made to measure and posted from China than it is to buy one on the highstreet!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I have to agree! Poor Birdie! Lol at your OH thinking you were trying to ebay it:rotfl:

My OH has this aboriginal pointillist painting that he bought in Australia - it's hideous! And also HUGE! And, most importantly, it's under the bed!
It's like this aerial landscape in all sorts of weird earthy colours which would be fine but then there are little piles of those gross witchety (?!) grubs everywhere, which are about 3 inches long - it's yuck!

Gosh, the sewing sounds very complex! I'm going to try to do some simple projects I think. I put the Cath Kidston 'Sew' book on my birthday list which I texted to my mum - unfortunately predictive text interfered and my mum thought I'd asked for something really inappropriate :rotfl:
