Wouldn't you think they would inform their customers?. I wonder why they dissolved and then opened up again under a similar name. It makes you wonder when we are going on about lenders doing this all the time.

After some research I think I can help.
    1. Loancheck Limited ceased trading in 2007 and it's assets were sold to a new company who traded under the name of The Loancheck Foundation
    2. This new company hads several operating divisions and its parent company is Loancheck SA which was floated on the Frankfurt stock exchange in July 2008 (loancheck.eu)
    3. The Loancheck Foundation changed its website from loancheck.co.uk to yourloancheck.com and also changed address.
    4. Mr John Whittaker appears to have been involved in all of the above companies, mainly as CEO.
    Hope this helps

Thanks for this. Its a shame that some on here were actually pointed in this direction from various users of this site and they have now lost their chance to go to FOS and also they are still waiting for answers etc 2 year later and cannot get various data items back. Also what about these small companies that point people to loancheck? I have looked at one in particular that was posted on here and cannot find them on the data protection register but they were handling data.

So are loancheck still going and is this anything about them

MCR appointed Administrators of disbursement funding company, Ascot Legal Services Limited
MCR has announced that Ascot Legal Services Limited, a disbursement funding company that loans money to solicitors, as part of the LoanCheck SA group, was placed into administration on 4 September 2009. Paul Williams and Geoff Bouchier, partners at MCR, have been appointed as Joint Administrators.

LoanCheck is a not-for-profit organisation which enables consumers to submit their loan details and mortgage arrangements via a website, that searches through the terms and conditions to find out whether the consumer has a potential claim against the lender. LoanCheck deals directly with consumer complaints over mis-selling and over-charging on mortgages and other financial products.
In 2008 LoanCheck's managing director John Whittaker, was recognised with a highly commendable award for Social Entrepreneur of the Year from the National IAB Business Enterprise Awards.
The Joint Administrators are seeking buyers for Ascot's debtor ledger comprising loans due from the law firms. All interest should be directed to the Joint Administrators. Press queries should be directed to Spreckley Partners Limited on behalf of the Joint Administrators.:confused:

    This is definitely them.

The Group consists of Loancheck SA which owns both Ascot Legal Services and Loancheck Administration (both now in Administration).

The former lent money to law firms and the latter undertook loan audits.

The Loancheck Foundation, which is still trading has been re-named as Yourloancheck.com Limited and was originally set up to offer a free online service to consumers.

They no longer appear to offer this service.

They are not owned by Loancheck SA but are run by John Whittaker

Their website appears identical to the the Loancheck site apart from the fact that they do not have the ability to check loans online

So where does this leave all the poor sods who have claims with them and have been there for 2 years? They were directed from "various" members of this site to this service but it seems quite a few are posting back now saying they have heard nothing back from them AFTER giving them data (and some firms that were passing on data were not even registered on the data protection register to do this!!) and signed copies of agreements or more to the point actual agreements. Does this mean that the solicitors that were dealing with these are not trading no more or not accepting claims from Loancheck?? Have these people wasted near on 2 years for nothing?

Frankly I don't know but I would suggest they contact them via email or phone as they are still trading and presumably doing something about this mess

The Solicitors are still trading. They do not just work on these cases they are "normal" solicitors. At the moment they are getting in touch with Severn Admin Limited who trade as Loancheck to ask the administrators how to go forward. If they are allowed some Solicitors will continue the service as before or Loancheck may wish to deal with the case themselves.

I have been told this by two different Solicitors. Hope this helps.

Seems to me that these companies in question are really no better than the companies we are actually complaining about daily on here. Severn Administration changed its name to Salop Management for some reason and then they are now in administration and none of the clients have been told or at least the ones on here. I have looked on the data protection register and neither names appear and if these peoples data gets in the wrong hands (there is a thread where some are worried about this) what then? Why is that as they were actually handling peoples data. Some on here were directed to these companies from various individuals and they have heard nothing they are saying after 2 years. I thought that this was supposedly a quick service of 6 to 9 months. It all seems a bit underhand to me and very confusing.

Actually worse because whilst some of the financial companies are being difficult, at the end of the day the FSA is there to hammer them and the FOS is there to make sure the complaints process is not abused. With claims companies you have virtually no protection to the lies and sales pitch given out.

Quite agree wonder what has happened to the personal data. As far as I was aware all the information was held on a database. At the moment the Solicitors have no access to this until Severn administrators consider what to do. Really hope this gets sorted out for everyone.
