  • we are buying at the moment and the vendors have ticked in the property information questionnaire that they intend to take the toilet roll holders. They are welcome, as even the surveyor recommends replacing the bathroom. Im more bothered about the curtain rails and poles, which they also plan to take. If only they would take the carpets as well.

I didn't want to ask what the sentimental reasons could be!

When we were looking at rented properties , we asked what was going with the lady and we were told that she was taking the wood burning stove with her....

I have been in a house where they stripped out all the carpets which i always find a little hard to understand as what can you do with second hand carpets...ok you can cut them down to size but a whole houses worth....??

To be honest ill take my stove with me. I love this baby!!

My mum left all her pans behind when she moved earlier this year...only discovered what she'd done after a couple of days when she went to cook something!! (been living on take-away's and pub lunches) Luckily the new owners gave her them back when she went round.

She's also discovered recently, whilst looking for a house in France, that unless the it states in the details the kitchen is fitted, it's probably a modular one that will go with the seller to their new home!

I bought a house where the sellers took the shed with them "for sentimental reasons". This was an absolutely bog standard small wooden shed out of B&Q, Focus or somewhere, which just stored gardening tools and stuff, nothing unique about it, and I'm not sure dismantling it and re-erecting it would have done it much good. I didn't want to ask what the sentimental reasons could be!

We definitely didn't want to take our shed with us, I'd knocked over a bag of bird food and forgotten to clear it up. A few weeks later we had a mouse infestation, just before we moved. Although we caught quite a few with a humane trap and released them some distance off, I'm not convinced we evicted them all.........
