reading this thread reaffirms that the human race disgusts me and is probably doomed to self-annilhation.0

All these posts about people painting/carpeting around furniture reminds me...when I went to Uni and came home for a weekend my parents had given my room a little make over. But they'd only painted the floorboards around the furniture! It stayed like that til I moved back in after Uni and had to finish the job.
Also when I moved into a student house a girl had left her passport in a chest of drawers, but obviously managed to remove all her other possessions. We also kept getting her bank statements and eBay purchases, til a few months later she came round demanding her post and passport.0 -
Recently bought a house - they did a pretty good job of striping it down - no curtain rails, door bell, and even the hooks from the backs of all the doors.
Had a few interesting experiences with stuff in rented properties - had a fire door left behind in the loft of one of them (presumably nobody had ever checked what was up there!). For good measure, I left a toaster that didn't work up there. Have received plenty of weird post - one person continued to have the National Geographic mailed to the address for over 18 months.0 -

The previous tennant of my flat died, but I still receive some of his post. Most interestingly the gifts that come of apparently being in the Jack Daniels fan club, every month I receive something different and quirky like some Poker dice, a basting brush, a keyring or a torch. All high quality metal with Jack Daniels branding on it and a nice letter attached. Sweet. :Athey took their commode nd chamber pot

I've just had the fixture and fittings list from my vendor, and everything is as we agreed (which is nice; no arguing over little things), with the exception of one thing... they aren't leaving us the satellite dish!
It's annoying because of the principle. To begin with, they don't even have sky. On top of that, they actually told us that they left the dish up in case the new owners wanted to have sky installed. We'll ask them to confirm that they won't rip the cable out though, so we can put our own dish up as soon as we move in without the hassle of installing a new cable.
Also their solicitor has managed to get the wrong address on the fixtures and fittings list :rolleyes:0 -
they aren't leaving us the satellite dish
this is O/T but that may be a good time to renue the cable, if the vendor has not used it for some time, may indicate it's getting on, so your reeption could benefit from a new run...The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

Also if old it may only be single wire, you need 2 for sky+ (and 4 for HD I think?)0

We rented our house out for a while. Every time the tenants left they always took all the council provided bin-liners with them so we had to go and get more.Make £2025 in 2025

I bought a house where the sellers took the shed with them "for sentimental reasons". This was an absolutely bog standard small wooden shed out of B&Q, Focus or somewhere, which just stored gardening tools and stuff, nothing unique about it, and I'm not sure dismantling it and re-erecting it would have done it much good. I didn't want to ask what the sentimental reasons could be!
I also rented out a house for a year, and when the tenants moved out (just a couple of months ago), they'd removed all the sink and bath plugs for some unfathomable reason....0
