Is O2 broadband any good?

You are presumably talking about O2 Access, not O2 LLU service?-two totally different things.

Yes, but O2 Access is still O2 Broadband. I am still an O2 customer and O2 Broadband still sucks. It's all covered by the same advertising and the same company takes your money so it would me mis-representative to sing about LLU whilst ignoring a the experiences of a significant number of their customers.

I was on LLU but moved house to a non-LLU area before the 12 months was up - hence a new 12 month lock-in and no 30 day get-out clause.

They are two totally different services, though they happen to be from the same company. To slag off the LLU services because Access is terrible makes no sense. I would never recommend Access to anyone, though I have recommended the LLU services many times.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

They have been amazing for me... for about £1 a month after cashback and free months....

They send me text messages and e-mails when the service goes down (which is rare - I wouldn't even know normally until they tell me), their CS is great. Overall i'm very pleased.

mac's entirely correct,Access service is sh1te & often the ISP's dont have any control over getting things like faults fixed in the way yhat they do with LLU because they rely on BT to do any work.
When I was working for Sky,no one in my department liked working on the 'Connect' service because BT made it such a nightmare to deal with.
I've been connected to O2 now for nearly a week & the only problem I've had was when I stoopidly installed McAfudge & removed it.
I lost one of my 6TO4 drivers (error 31) & lost wireless connectivity now I dunno what I done but it seems to be fixed now!.....
Speeds are consistently high now, around 7Mbps.

You are missing the point entirely and I suggest you learn to read properly. Exactly where did I slag off LLU?

O2 Access is still O2 Broadband. If you read my reply you would see that even if you do get LLU you can get stuck in a new contract by moving to an area without LLU, so that is still something to be considered seriously.

LLU was fine for me then, but Access is frankly criminal. To blindly gloss over Access and simply address LLU is ignorant as they are both marketed as O2 broadband, which if you read the title of the thread is O2 broadband.

A large part of O2 broadband is O2 Access, whether you care to see that or not.

O2 broadband is the worst internet provider I have ever had. I feel like I have stepped back about ten years at least. Check the O2 broadband forum on the O2 site for other stories of misery and steer well clear.

So that's not slagging off O2? I think not. What you failed to mention is that all the 'stories of misery' on the O2 forums relate to Access.
You chose to move house to a non LLU area, and chose to move over from LLU to Access. When you originally signed up for 02 LLU, were you under the impression that all exchanges were unbundled for O2?
I'm not glossing over anything, if you bothered to read you would see that all my posts deter people from signing up for Access, but recommend them to sign up for O2 if they can get it LLU.
But for the record, my position is:
    O2 Access is terrible.
    O2 LLU is great.

I agree it is important to make the distinction between the two

    Hi terra_ferma,

Have highlighted the key bits below...

Under no circumstances may any part of my postings be used, quoted, repeated, transferred or published by any third party in ANY medium outside of this website without express written permission. Thank you.

I have no issue with Martin and the MSE team using my posts... not they are ever interesting or worth using....

On another forum I use though a local newspaper read my post and next minute I had a nosey reporter ringing me up and printing stories about my post.

    Not good
  • The call centre for broadband is based in Glasgow Skypark so thats probably why the customer service is usually very good ;)
