my cats been poisoned

Just a tip about fluids that my friend gave me, pour a some water over the cat's food to encourage it to drink. I'm getting around 100mls a day into Angus this way (he gets several small meals day and night). How much fluid s/he should be drinking also depends on how much wet food s/he is eating each day.The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0

My dad doesn't like cats or dogs, but he was very impressed the first time he saw one of mine burying it's poo. :cool:Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -

This isn't in any way meant as criticism to you or any cat owners, but the reason you don't come accross waste in your own garden is most likely because (as clean animals) cats don't like to foul their own gardens. I'm in no way condoning what your horrible neighbour has done  but chances are that local cats are using his garden as the neighbourhood litter tray. This is a real problem for cat owners and their neighbours. I'm not a cat owner and do get frustrated by the way that neighbours' cats mess up our garden, including digging up the flower beds. I have been known to chase them away, using the water hose if handy! I'm under no illusions that they won't come back the minute my back is turned though, so I live with it as there is nothing else I can do.
It's got much better since we got our dog though, they seem to keep away even when he isn't in the garden. Fingers crossed this will last. It's very frustrating to find animal poo in your garden, especially when you have young children, and especially when us dog owners could (and should!) be heavily fined if we allow our animals to foul public places without cleaning up after them (and yes, I know not all dog owners are responsible - don't get me started on dog poo on the footpath, yuck).
I hope Smudgy does make a full recovery. Even though I'm not keen on cats, I have to say that she is absolutely beautiful, I love those eyes! It's beyond me how anyone can be so cruel, and I hope you find a way to get your neighbour punished for what he's done.0 -
I wonder if the Mail might be interested in your story, Tianna, given how many cats have gone missing in your neighbourhood and the suspicious behaviour of your neighbour? They couldn't actually name him since he hasn't been convicted of anything, but everyone would know who he was which would be pretty unpleasant for him... Just a thought :A0

Completely agree. 4 of my near neighbours have cats. Every one of them uses my garden as their toilet whilst their gardens are poo free.
I don't like it but I realise there's not much you can do, unfortunately. I've tried all the usual remedies from orange peel to bottles of water etc. I even got a metal cat with reflective eyes to sit in the garden as it was supposed to put other cats off.....not this lot, they would sit beside it and preen.
I would never dream of wishing ill will to any animal let alone physically harming it just because it's doing what nature intended. Animals are not malicious, it's such a shame that some people are.Herman - MP for all!

Have you tried making friends with them? I talk to all the cats who come into our garden (unless they're teasing Angus) and we don't really have a problem with them pooping. The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
It is great that Smudgy does her business behind your own garden shed. Sensible girl is keeping to her own patch but not out in public or where it could be a problem, clever girl

It looks as if your horrible neighbour is trying to rid his world of cats! No excuse for that at all. I really hope his actions are taken seriously by the RSPCA or better still, the police.
I have to agree that as cat owners we all have a responsibility to try to ensure our pets do not cause nuisance to others.
Even when our cats prefer to "go" outside we can still offer them a litter tray. The privacy of covered tray in a sheltered spot out of the wind and rain, with a decent quantity of litter in it is a much more attractive option than an open patch of garden with the wind blowing up your bum!
We can help our cats get the hang of it by lifting them into the tray when they first go outside after a sleep. Ok, it takes a bit of time and effort to get them used to it but at least we then know where they go, and it also gives us the chance to check on their waste, from a health point of view.
I've put one of my trays in one of those little foldable greenhouses, tucked up in a corner to keep the worst of the weather off. Cheap and does the job.
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead
