110.00 Cashback for Scottish Power Dual Fuel Switch

Just a quick question aimed at bristol leeds fan, ive moved gas and electric on the 11th Feb do i need to await 28 days before i move it again?
I wouldnt advise switching before cashback is received although myself I often apply to switch once its been validated/confirmed and on this occasion have applied to switch from Npower-Scottish Power despite fact that Npower Cashback has not validated/confirmed yet, my reasoning being that switch has taken place thus fulfilling terms of cashback offer and Npower seem to have a history ( based on comments on TCB site + posts ive seen on MSE) of rejecting tracked and confirmed cashback despite people still remaining N-Power customers so dont believe that my actions will influence matters on that occasion.
28 day period ( notice period) is covered within the switching period. i.e switch wont happen until 28 days have elapsed from time existing supplier is informed of application to switch.
My current history is left E.ON for SP early August 2009 via TCB 74.89
Applied to leave SP October 2009 for EDF via TCB 80.80
Applied to leave EDF early January 2010 for N-Power via TCB 91.80 ( application was late being made cos E.ON hadnt sorted out previous two bills and SP hadnt closed down my bill as EDF are really slow when it comes to switches.
Applied to leave N-Power 21.2.10 for SP via Fatcheese 120.50
Usage Electricity approx 275 per year. Gas under 5.00 per year. :money:

Please see the following reply to my question about the £110 Scottish Power dual fuel cashback promised by the TopCashBack site on a switch made on 23/11/09 , where the supplier has exercised the direct debit mandate twice already . Maybe it'll be equivalent to NPower's annual discount ,
Hi there,
Thank you for your enquiry.
It is not unusual for policy/contract based transactions to take longer to progress to payable status. This is because the merchant tends to allow the policy to run for several months before awarding the cashback. They do this to ensure the member does not take out a policy, gain the cashback and then cancel the policy (I am in no way implying that you would do this but explaining why this happens).
Looking at this merchant's activity, I can see that they have paid for valid transactions up until the beginning of November and that your transaction is not acting in any different manner from others around this time. I sincerely hope that we will see these transactions progress soon.
We do realise in these circumstances that our systems for indicating the estimated payable date are not perfect but i do hope that this updates you.
Kind regards,
Vicky0 -

I think my switching is similar to yours, I began doing it about a year earlier though, loving it while it works!! £190 this month (two switches paid at once) so that'll help towards my fuel bill for the last few months.0 -

My first utility switch was in August 2007, have been doing them regular since then.I merely detailed my most recent switching adventures.

bristolleedsfan,
Phew! My head is spinning just from reading your last post! How on earth do you manage to keep on top of all those switches, not to mention checking bills are correct!
I admire your tenacity. Here am I, for the last 2 weeks been studiously trying to find the best deal and get a good cashback and still procrastinating about who to go with as they all have plus and minus points.
What I don't get though is how you manage to make so much money out of it because most have cancellation fees. When I worked out what I could make on the SPower 120.50 dual fuel deal, after deducting the cancellation fees and the loss of discounts for not staying the 12 months, I was left with 37 pounds.
Also do you not find it difficult to keep track of your bills?0 -

Im not anywhere long enough to get bill(s) just get final bill :rotfl:also Im not anywhere long enough to end up with DD credit, Scottish Power are very fair as regards initial monthly DD amount so I let them keep my DD until final bill is done. ( pretty sure that qualifies me for a discount
)
E.ON think they can come up with any monthly amount following sign up so I cancel E.ON DD and pay when E.ON come up with final bill.EDF I cancelled DD again because I knew I was switching and wanted to make sure they only got what they was entitled to.
All energy companies have tariffs that have no exit penalties, for high users these may not be suitable.
E.ON Track and Save
SP Online energy ( no number) NSC and SC : Very expensive in some areas has been reported, very competitive for me in SW.
EDF Standard Dual Fuel
N.Power Standard + also Go Save non fixed I believe has no exit penalties ( or similar name)0 -
I switched back to SP yesterday, duel fuel online, it tracked today at £122.91 with TCB. I only left them on the 11th FEB.
I can confirm best to Leave the DD with SP until the final bill is paid by the DD.
Do this all the time and I guess you get to know how all the power companies work in practice0 -

I am a highish user (certainly in the winter Oct- April period). This year my gas is 31000 kwh and electricity 6000kwh. Gas is obviously significantly lower in summer.
I wonder if it would be worth for me doing the single fuel electricity switch to get cashback, and leaving gas with EDF. Trouble is I'm on EDF Online v3 which has now gone back to standard tariff so am desperate to change. I could save 350 pounds a year according to the comparison sites.
I wonder if I would be better just changing my tariff with EDF to save about 290 pounds per year on Online Saver 5. At least then I would not have to wait 6 weeks to change tariff with a new supplier and that alone could save me about 70 pounds straight away at this time of year.
Anyone got any ideas what I could do?
I'm desperate to change but not sure which way to go about it.0 -
Just been on top cash back and it's gone back up to £120 for duel fuel switch to scottish power. Was gonna switch on the last one but it changed back to 60 before i got chance!:T0
