  • I'm a pedant now too? Golly.
you shouldn't be speeding there, what if you had a blowout and hit a tree

You're right, I shouldn't have been speeding on the desserted, totally straight, well lit, road that's nowhere near any sort of conurbation incase I had a blowout and hit a tree.

However, I guess we all have an acceptable level of risk. My acceptable level of risk tells me to take my advanced driven, well controlled car out on the road and when I get an urge to make progress, my acceptable level of risk tells me to do it on the road I know well, late at night, nowhere near schools or villages. My acceptable level risk tells me not to do it on the road which has a shop at the bottom in a village, where a friendly local bobby likes to get out his pro-laser and point it at my car.

Just makes sense really, I want to keep my license. I genuinely think you should stop attacking anyone who posts near you on the forum. I've been agreeing with you. You just started attacking me even though I agree that speeds ok in the right circs. I dont get it.

That rings alarm bells to me. The way you are describing your car as "well driven" and "well controlled" when you are driving it. Stinks of a cocky boy racer attitude to me - overconfidence. Many accidents are caused by silly boy racers that overestimate and overstate their skills.

And this "acceptable level of risk" nonsense - who do you think you are to choose a level of risk you subject other road users to? Its not just you on the roads you know. How do you know a drunk or a child won't run out whilst you are driving fast in the dark on one of your jollies?

Tell the family of the child you kill that it was an acceptable risk you took by speeding.

If you have really undertaken an advanced driving course as you claim then you obviously didn't get much from it, as sticking to the speed limits and obeying the law is taught as a top priority on all of the respectable ones. Some "advanced driver" you are, when you can't even do the bare minimum expected of any driver: obey the law.

I think you should respect the law of the land from now on and not speed at all. Go to a race track next time you get more of your "urges".

(See, I can be an ar@ehole and pick apart your posts too, just like you chose to do to me).
  • You're right, i'll rip apart all of the certificates and sell all of my cars and bikes.

pendulumRecently I was driving at around 2am on a Friday night, well over the limit I have to say, at least 20mph over.

    Interesting.

So, are we having a chat or am I still a pedant and god knows what else you called me. If i'm still a pedant, I can help with trying to explain your poor use of the possesive apostraphie in your previous posts if you like? You obviously don't want to discuss driving.

I see the aftermath of bad driving far too often...the law is there for a reason, no doubt you think it's OK to chat on the phone and drive or cross the no overtaking lines too?

Try telling that to the officer in the POLICE car when he/she is on the phone whilst driving (yes,I have seen this more than once)I have also seen them eating at the wheel too.

We are all human and we ALL make mistakes. When I got my 3 points 3 yrs ago I was "banged to rights" I didint argue ,I just paid up and shut up.

The problem we have is there is NO common sense used.If for instance theres a 20 or 30 mph sign outside a school. Its there for a reason and that reason is children will be around the crossings during the day.
Now if i'm driving down that same road at 11pm at night and Im driving at say 40mph I really don't see any problem with that, we need some common sense here, but i'm sure some PERFECT ANGELS on here will say "Its the Law"........
