I have only made one, but found it easier than a hamper, you don't have to arrange all the stuff like in a hamper, just hide it inside the towel. Very easy. :D

Hiya i found towel cakes really easy to do and effective < i used a cheaper towl primark bale pack £9 but was not as good ( see my red valentines one), however the primark bath towel at £5 each is lovely really soft and rolls well ( see my £18 one)

I have used a £5 bath towel and a £2 hand towel in my pamper one in pink ( pics a page up) and the cheaper towels out of the bale which worked out £4.50 for 1 bath and 1 hand towel in my 2nd one

so in a nutshell although I'm sure its not quite as easy as this lol
do you put the bits inside and then wrap a towel round them and tie a ribbon round them or do you roll the towel, secure with ribbon and then put the bits inside
I am keen to give them a go but a bit nervous lol

Hiya not exactly lol , im no expert as only just started but heres how i do mine.
get my bath towel lie it lengthways on the floor, fold the top half up and the bottom half so they meet in the middle then fold in half again so its a long and width i want it to be, then i roll it up and secure with a elastic band i know others use pegs or hair clips so your choice, next i do the same for the hand towel for my second tier and secure it onto of my 1st tier using the wooden kebab sticks with the point cut off , just poke these through both tiers making sure dont snag the towels, next i start to add things ie rose heads, smellies, candles ect by gently just opening the bottom tier and popping them in, you will see how its done as its in a coil so i just pull the coil open, i secure the items in with bit of double sided tape so they dont fall and decorate with ribbons so cant see the elastic band.
hope that explains it like said im not that good just starting also google towel cakes how to make and there are some good tutorials available on utube ect.

  • Hiya,

I need to make a "cake" for an older sister (10 nearly 11) to go with a nappy cake.
I have been talking with the grandma who has ordered it, and decided on a towel cake, but shes not in to pamper bits or make up yet! She likes Guinea Pigs and crafty stuff.

My question really is does anyone have any ideas for some crafty bits to go in it? I dont know the exact budget but i'm guessing not a huge one!

    Thanks

    Jo

How about a cross stitch kit for her or perhaps some knitting needles, wool, that sort of thing, or perhaps she might like to do come crochet??

Not very helpful but just a thought.

Home and bargin are good for craft sets quite cheap, maybe make your own photoframe and she could put a pic of the baby in it?
or one of those hand crafting kits and she could put her hand and the babies ect
    just a thought

  • i really dont know if i am allowed to do this
so i apologize in advance if not

on the grab it while you can thread, there is an offer, for £15 off a £15 spend in littlewooods & free delivery if its your first spend
i was inspired by your towel cakes and ordered a towel bale from there (£12) LOTS of colours 2 choose from, 2 facecloths, 2 hand towels, 2 bath towels
i also ordered a pair of knickers just to make up the money
input ZZ425 in the code bit at the checkout and it deducts £15 form your total
so you get your towel bale (and knickers) for free:j
