Asda opticians offer the best service I've ever recieved (just left Vision Express after no end of problems) and they are FAB for contact lenses! VE gave me the most expensive brand - Asda recommended a lower priced contact lens for my astigmatism and they are the most comfortable lenses I've ever worn - and are £15 a month less!
I travel nearly an hour to my nearest Asda opticians but I wouldn't change them for the world!0 -
Very interesting deal. Although I suspect that the index ASDA consider suitable for my prescription will not be as thin as I consider suitable, it is still a very competitive price for a bricks-and-mortar opticians for those with strong prescriptions.0

I am really confused where does it say that the ultre thin lenses are included in the price...£50??...trying to be more money savvy everyday. :T0

Many thanks op.
I need Varifocal, but following your link, these seem to be only an extra £40.
My last pair from Boots was over £400 and that wasn't the thinnest - 'cos I had to draw the financial line somewhere.
I have been needing a re-test and new prescription for a while now ( can tell my eyesight has worsened) so I will be phoning my local Asda for a test today.
I will also ask about getting lenses put into old frames, as I have several quite new pairs which I have kept as spares.
At Boots ( and everywhere else I have gone over the years) it always worked out cheaper to get a whole new set - frames and all - rather than just new lenses.
Thanks again for posting, I have toyed with the idea of these on-line opticians, but not been convinced it would work out successfully. I would much prefer to deal with a human face-to-face......while I can still see them:D0 -

I can't find it eitherso I've emailed them to ask. My prescription is about -11 so I need very thin lenses (I usually have 1.7 as 1.9 is only available in glass and that's too heavy). I'll post when I get a response.

I'm watching this thread with interest. I got my last pair from an internet site for £50. However they happened to be based very near to me at the time, so I was able to go and try them on get the right measurements etc. However they moved away and now i could really do with another pair of specs. These were the thinner lenses too.
I asked at the time how he could sell glasses so cheaply, he replied that even at that price there was still plentry of profit left for himJuly Win: Nokia 58000 -
I was too impatient to wait for a response to my email so I phoned Asda and they put me through to my nearest store (Swindon). The assistant confirmed that my prescription (about -11) would warrant 1.7 lenses and that these would be included in the price!!!!!!! Any prescription above -7 gets 1.7.
I said that this was too good to be true and the assistant agreed, she said that they used to charge £180 just for the lenses and that now it's just £70 for designer frames and lenses.
I'm off to Asda this afternoon0 -
I spent £380 on my glasses in January! How annoying.0

Does this mean that only prescriptions of a certain strength (that really warrant 1.7) will get 1.7?
I'm guessing that 1.9 and 1.7 is the thickness of the glass.I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!
