I have received a message when I tried to start Comuter saying this copy of Windows is not genuine.
I was unaware of this as I paid to have it put on when I changed to Broadband. Can I still use it?

Mircosoft used do have a e-mail/phone number where you could report this and in return they would give you a genuine copy. This was to crack down on fakes being sent out into the market and to catch the big fakers.

This would mean shopping whoever you got the fake off plus I guess they need prove that you paid for it and proberly the disc as well.

If interested have alook on Microsoft.
    Regards,
    Dave

If only I had a pound for every time I used the thanks button :D

sounds like the free copy for dobbing-in might not work in this instance but with this copy of XP, you can get all hotfixes for the OS via automatic updates. You just won't get WMP11 and other "features".....that are non-essential.

So options are - try MS, leave as-is (and look at how to disable wgatray.exe ;)) or buy a competitive upgrade to XP :)
In the United Kingdom 200,000 people are bitten by dogs every year and some people will die as a result. Of those bitten, 70% are children... So the question has to be asked....... Has the time come to ban children?
