Yet again Ebay are controlling sellers even more

As I always say I will continue to use ebay while it works for me, when it doesn't work I'll stop.
I have tried my own website and that yielded me nothing apart from expenses as I am not computer savvy enough to understand all the ins and outs of it. Therefore for me ebay isi cheaper in the long run as I have a selling platform and a guaranteed audience that I would not otherwise have,I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. And where do you sell now if not ebay, or did you just stop selling altogether?
Yes I do occasionally buy, but will never again sell. I expect you have heard the saying "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" As I stated in an earlier post, they are now so far up the buyers backsides that if they got it up any further they would disappear !0 -
It's just a ploy for Ebay to force sellers to go over the 99p threshold so they have to pay 15p per item, which in a recession is crazy and will make peoeple walk. It used to be 10p so 15p is a lot of money when you add up all the items. They may be shooting themselves in the foot and lose more money as sellers stop selling.0

It used to be 10p and another 10p for Gallery images so 15p with free Gallery is cheaper than it used to be. They may be shooting themselves in the foot and lose more money as sellers stop selling.
See red bits /\
Of course, if people hadn't listed their entire house's contents for 99p with massively inflated P+P, this probably wouldn't have happened. How many of us have seen things like TVs listed for 99p and £100 P+P, and DVDs (where it all started) at 99p with £6 or more P+P?Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

I liked confused90's post very interesting.
OP I stopped selling in Ebay and prefered Amazon mainly because it was easier to sell on and in my market generated higher prices and profits. So from a sellers point of view I'm not really that bothered but I do understand why they have done it ie level the playing fields and make it more transparent.
With my buyers hat on I do find P+P on the categories where sellers are still allowed to charge very frustrating especially if they charge a premium but only use a 2nd class service.
I can understand your frustration though but if you are struggling to sell stuff to acheive a profit with free P+P then I don't think it would make much difference where you sold.0 -

The Free listings at 99p have only been in place since about March. What did you do before then? As has been stated in another thread if the Free P&P had be brought before the Free 99p listings there wouldn't be such a fuss.
I very much doubt sellers will stop selling. If you can't cover your costs at least the items not worth selling on ebay. All the free 99p listings managed to achieve anyway was flood ebay with all the carp in the word. I for one am glad that Free P&P has slowly eroded these pointless auctions Bring on more0 -

Forgive me for stating this observation cyberbob as i kinda know your not gonna like it but i feel this needs to be said.....what a load of self righteous and arrogant rubbish that last post is, sorry but who are you to look down on people listing 99p items?
now i have never listed low value items most stuff i have sold on ebay is £50 upwards so i'm speaking objectively but i would never look down my nose at others the way you have in the post above and i find you very patronising and obnoxious.
May i just point out to you that 99p auctions will only appear on your screen if you go to ebay and type in the relevant search keywords, so if your finding the amount of 99p auctions on ebay annoying, change your search terms and you'll never even know they were there....
then you won't have to complain about them "flooding ebay".... just a thought.0 -

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but how is he meant to find something specific if he has to change his search?
I need H4 bulbs, but there is too much tat amongst that search. I'll look for H7 bulbs instead.
Oh. They don't fit.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Sigh!! _you do have the most appropriate username. If you actually read what I said I'm not looking down on 99p auctions what I am saying is due to the 99p listings people are putting so much rubbish on that its hard to find the things worth looking at.
I buy things at 99p on occasion so no I don't want to exclude these from my searches what I would like less of is all the rubbish that gets listed at this price just because its free
I'd love to know where it says I look down on people who list things at 99p. I list things at 99p but because i'm a business seller I have to pay. This means I still have to think whether its worth it to cover my costs. Free listings at 99p have meant that people have been listing dog fluff (just an example I don't want you to get more confused) and when it doesn't sell they just keep relisting. So if I want to search for something with very similar keywords this sort of rubbish will keep appearing and yes I want to see the 99p auctions because if i can get what I want at that price alls well. If you actually bothered to read others posts properly you would see that this is a common opinion both on this board and over on the ebay community boards
Confused this should be a simple concept that even you can understand. The fact that you have resorted to insults rather than a thought out argument says so much about yourself. in all your posts you do not seem to be able to put a well thought argument together I think I will just leave you too it and your total confusion on most subjects.0 -

Pls be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.
As Martin says - please be nice - there is no such thing as a stupid question !0
