Yet again Ebay are controlling sellers even more

I am getting sick of this ever tightening control Ebay are having on us sellers. Every time I list new items via Turbo Lister there is an error because they have changed their rules. They are making it impossible for me to add postage and the only way I can list these 99p items is by allowing free postage !!! So what I make on the item will be taken away by postage cost. Surely this is dictating how we price items.
The only way I can cover my postage now is by upping the price of the items.
Next thing will be Ebay insisting we personaly travel to the buyers house, offer them the item they have bought on a silver plate, with a cup of tea and a massage, and then write to them for up to 6 months after the purchase to check they are still happy with the item.

So whats the problem with that.
I know your going to say increased listing fees. Well the free 99p listings for private sellers have only been in place since March. What did you do before then? Everyone is in the same boat. You have 2 choices list at 99p and risk you don't cover your costs. List at a realistic price and cover costs which most sellers are doing. If it doesn;t sell at the increased cost it more than likely wouldn't have sold with separate P&P
If you are a business seller of course you shouldn't be listing on the Free 99p listings anyway.0 -

You don't have to sell on Ebay if you don't agree with its policies. There are other auction websites which reach the same high volume of people.... no hang on there isn't. Your just have to put up with Ebay and follow its rules or find a car boot sale to sell your stuff at.0 -
Good grief, do you work for Ebay or something, and I don't just mean selling ?
I think you will see others here are feeling the same. Ebay are controlling us. How can I send free postage to all countries in the world for a 99p item ? They are forcing us to go above the 99p free listing by not allowing us to cover postage. Thats sneaky tactics.0 -
As you're only getting rid of a few things from around the house it's not that big a deal though is it? I mean, you're not using it as an income otherwise you wouldn't be using the free 99p listings.
Saying "eBay are controlling us", is a strong statement. You could always pay a tenner and off load stuff at a local car boot sale instead maybe? Thta way you're not touching eBay or postal costs.0 -
Ebay is a company, and if you don't like their rules, you are perfectly free to sell elsewhere... They are not controlling anyone.
Big businesses need tight rules, and given the amount of sellers that used to take the p*ss with their postage costs, I think this new rule is good, and the seller can add the actual postage cost onto the start price.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

And then they won't sell because it's hard enough to get sales at the current prices. So buyers won't be ripped of with high postage....? Great, now they just pay much higher prices for an item.0 -

Thinking about it more, the sellers who overcharge on postage to avoid fees are costing me money since I use tcb for all of my ebay purchases and get 40% of ebay fvfs. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0 -

Their ball, their rules - if you do not like it, which clearly you don't, then go elsewhere to sell - ebid, local classfieds, car boot sales, ibootsale.com, cqout.co.uk, 121bid, ioffer, bonanzle, atomic mall, preloved, flog.co.uk, totalbids, iwac, ecrater, elfingo to name but a few alternatives.
People have been stamping their feet for ages about ebay changes, but not many people are voting with their feet and going elsewhere.
Either adapt and continue, or go elsewhere - complaining gets nobody anywhere with ebay, especially as they reported increased revenue and growth yesterday.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Regular sellers on ebay trying to make a living are having to follow the rules or fail. We all have to up our game as we are not selling for fun or pocket money for Christmas.
It costs money yes, it's a business, but it's a whole lot cheaper than running an actual shop.0
