I just feel it is a shame that someone who is obviously unable to understand and work with a system feels the need to take everyone else down with him.
Does it not occur to you toycollector that if it was that difficult to keep stars at a reasonable level then everyone would already be struggling, like you? The fact that you can't manage your sale must surely make you wonder why?
Yes we all have our moans on here and we all worry about the few 1 or 2 * ratings on our expanded board if we have them, but this isn't rocket science and we all seem to be managing. Several of us have a number of accounts as well and manage all those successfully. It may well pay you to stop selling for a while (but watch your percentages as they may start to go down) and actually read some of the changes that have occured so you can change your business model to suit.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think all the changes have more to do with countering the lower profits they are making these days.
It is ridiculous to introduce free 99p listings, but charge 10% fvf on the first £10.00. In reality, if you sell an item for 99p, you will pay Ebay 10p & Paypal 23p (3.5%+20p), so you will make 66p before p&p.
In 5 years time, Ebay will just be a customer-returns off-loading platform for large business, whilst all us powersellers will have either given-up trying to compete, or moving-on to one of the rival sites.Never Knowingly Understood.

As earlier posts have said you need to work with Ebay rather than against them. Ebay gives sellers a platform they wouldn't otherwise have. What you are paying for is the money Ebay have spent in creating the brand.
What model do you have for your business? I've gone from trading second hand items to now buying directly from manufacturers. Without Ebay this wouldn't have been possible. My items for sale are visible around the world. I would never have built my customer base.
I've tried Ebid and it doesn't attract the buyers. I've considered a hosted online shop but isn't that cheap. Ebay is an excellent shop window on which to base a broader business.
I recently attended a collectors fair. £65 for a table for the day. Petrol to get there etc. I don't have a card terminal so couldn't accept credit cards. Sold a few bits and pieces but wasn't worth the expense. Running a succesful business isn't easy.0 -

Even with these changes its still far cheaper to list on ebay than it was 2 years+ ago. What short memories everyone has. Also if your consistantly selling items under £10 you need a paypal micro account. It will slash your paypal fees for those items0 -

Here's some food for thought - or maybe you are already aware of it... ;-)

It's also something to show to the "ebay only protects buyers, not sellers" crowd.
Good link Steve, and good work by ebay, I sayBack on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
