i have been selling on ebay for several years now and have seen a drastic drop in my earnings due to the 99p free listings. i had been increasing my postage costs to compensate this, but now i have just received a warning about my DSR's for postage being low and a warning about possible future account restrictions.
i think this is very unreasonable as no one is being forced to buy my items, my postage costs are very clearly written in my descriptions, and then to leave a low rating for postage is just sour grapes.
i dont think any ammount of whinging will change the rules, the only way to break the system is to use it to our advantage. today i have left feedback for about 20 items i bought recently and i left DSR's for all categories of 1 for all of them (even the free postage items) it only takes 4 low DSR's to get the warning, if every buyer did this within a month half the sellers on ebay would have restricted accounts and ebay would have to rethink their policies.
Ebay can do without buyers or sellers like you. I believe Ebid is very handy if you want to pop over there:rolleyes:.0 -

What a low down, sneaky, spiteful, and nasty thing to do!
First, and hopefully last post...
Besides, if you left a positive comment with all the low ratings, you will have been flagged up for individual review, and with any luck you'll be NARU'd shortly.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

However, I still feel it is easier to use as a platform than a bricks and mortar outlet.
And not every industry sector is in recession. There is, no doubt, a shrinkage in overall expenditure, but there is also a shift in spending priorities of many people. By looking at how and where people are now spending money, it is not impossible to find an opportunity to benefit from that.
agreed, I work with Ebay rather than against; what else can you do if you want to sell on there?
I've had my best ever year in the last year ( recession or not).
Yes free p & p can be a pain, but I just increase the cost of the item to cover it.
Ebay for me is still the best platform for sales , rule changes or not, and so you have to adapt to changes as best you can.
If your item is something that wont sell for a lot of money, then a car boot sale is a better bet ( free 99p listings or not)
Personally i dont bid if someone is taking the p*ss with postal charges, its obvious what they are doing, and i dont like it.
so, either you have to get on with it or go elsewhere - simple

Thats harsh if the seller did nothing wrong. You think punishing an odd seller will make Eaby change it's rules. No chance.
I have sold on Ebay for 10 years and make a good living from it. By good I mean pay all my bills and eat well. We have raised 3 kids too in that time.
Times change and ebay has certainly, but then RM have got tighter too since we began. At the end of the day these changes have been forced by dishonest buyers and sellers.Just like many other things in life we can't change.
We can moan and do but this is how it is now.0 -

If you took the time to learn how eBay works, you'd find out that 4 low DSR's doesn't necessarily mean that you're restricted. Its a %age of the DSRs you receive, you ignorant a**hole.0 -

Dear dudley dunderhead
if you read the policies page you would find that it is a combination of percentage or individual low ratings, and i never said i was restricted i said i was warned.
