Another fee avoider: Both auctions I've linked to are for an item of the same weight. And yet, the postage for the more sought after one is considerably higher: here and here

Bring on the free P+P, I say.

So I cant even take peoples advice and resolve issues with my account! What I do with my ebay / paypal is my person business and it would be nice to have my advice replied to and not ignored just so you can drag up and twist the past.

Seems you want to know everything i do use play etc just dont need advice on that!

And whats wrong with posting a reminder to push it back up the top to see if someones nice enough to reply?

Oh my lord how many more times, I TOOK YOUR ADVICE DIDNT I AND RESOLVED THE ISSUES THATS WHY IM SELLING AGAIN.

I do understand how paypal works I just asked for some advice on a echeque! is that a crime? excuse me for not having as much experience as others but ive somethings not happened to me before how am i to know how it works?

btw how do i conform to fit into this clique?
    There's a multi-quote button for a reason :p

There is no clique, just the people that don't know what they're doing (not levelled at you before you accuse me of victimisation or whatever) and give bad advice don't like to be corrected by the members that could actually help.

i have only just seen the multi quote button

its not the advice i have a problem with its the way its given, the tone, the way things are twisted etc that annoy me. if people just gave advice instead of kept going on about irrelevant old posts and twisint them, asking life history etc
Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.

I discovered the free postage requirement today when I listed a few items. I suspect it's because they didn't like losing fees on items where the postage was quite high.

I do understand, and have sympathy, but paypal can be complex and sometimes the past can be relevent. Sometimes admittedly it's not though.
People get fustrated on both sides. ;)

Personally if it's any consolation I am making a concious effort to be less negative and more constructive lately :)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
  • I'm just curious... has anyone checked to see if this is the same if you buy something from abroad to have them sent over here.

I'd hate to assume, but I remember a few years back when the cost to go through the channel tunnel was the same figure in £s $s & Euros...

But its relevant when the past history has a standing on what is going on. People get frustrated when you blunder from disaster to disaster (which you have and continue to do and they are all related) making the same basic mistakes it becomes relevant when these mistakes have been pointed out to you continuously and you still ask the same questions over and over waiting for an answer you want to hear and not the one thats given then its relevant to mention past problems. You have been given so much advice over the past few months but when it wasn't what you wanted to hear you go off in a huff.

No one wants to upset you, but at some point we all have to look at our own actions. Sometimes I can be a little blunt which I apologise for and I will try to work on my fluffy side but if you ask for advice thats what you'll get., but you also have to take some responsibility for your own actions and maybe apply a little common sense to the situations you seem to find yourself in.

If you had posted some of the problems you have had that you have posted here on the ebay community boards you would have been eaten alive.

If you don't want advice then the answer is not to ask for it. As I said I will work on my fluffy side

Bob's Fluffy side does exist. I've seen it, and even took a photo:very_fluffy_bunny1.jpg

  • I have just been reading through the last part of this thread trying to ignore the sniping, but the tone of good on ebay for things like free shipping and "bad sellers" be gone seems to dominate. The free shipping scam is just another hit against the small users on ebay, which I assume to you is a good thing, but do you not understand that the ebay user that is going some place else is just that a user. How many buyers do you know on ebay that do not sell or do not consider selling? I have been on there for ten year and in all that time I have met one. So as you say goodbye to those "bad sellers" which are basically the small sellers that no longer fit into ebays plans then, say goodbye to a lot of your customers, as so far ebay have done nothing to bring in new customers to replace those users that are leaving. Ebid has went over the three million mark. The two American alternatives are both over one and a half million, and it is no surprise to anyone with half a brain, which obviously would exclude ebay management, that the growing rise in sales on the alternative sites is growing with the items listed, as the users are doing what they used to do on ebay and buying from the place they sell. I don't know, if I was a seller relying on ebay at the moment, I would not be so confident, at least until I see ebay make some form of effort of marketing to bring in these new buyers, that will have to replace the lost users.
  • Crikey, eBay has now got to be the only place to sell where the general welcome to people who have the insight to complain is "go away and sell somewhere else!"

Personally speaking, as a business model, I think this stinks.

The bottom line is that eBay introduced the free P+P to increase their own revenue - that's it. No other sites feel it necessary to do this unless you have a minimum spend - why?

It's not to help customers, can't be, not if people are saying 'up the price, there's no difference.'

Sorry, but to me all these price increases that are either direct or indirect, stink of the fact that eBay is panicking. 'Increased revenue and profits' - is that why they laid thousands of people off year before last?
Where is the 'increased revenue' derived from?
Is it derived from more sellers selling more items or is it from increased charges?
    There is a big difference.

And, looking at the macro side of things:
It's okay, I suppose, telling people to toe the line or go somewhere else ... but not in the long term.
These are the same people that also SPEND on eBay, the less money they have to spend, the less money the remaining buyers take. It's an ever decreasing circle.
Also the less items that are on eBay, the less people start to shop there. I know that this week alone I made three purchases - but I did look elsewhere due to the falling amount of products/pricing variety on eBay. I ended up buying two from there and one from somewhere else.
What made me look elsewhere was the fact that all the products I was looking for seemed to be standard and varying very little in price. I found it cheaper off site.

Thing is, a lot of the stuff on eBay now is new, so why do people say 'go somewhere else - Ha! but there is nowhere else to go,' because actually, there is. There are loads of other sites selling 'shop' stuff - millions of 'em and from what I can see a lot of sellers are now using eBay as a springboard to direct people to their own shops or websites.

Why do people, when somebody complains about ebay costs, always fail to ask the two most important questions: a) what are you selling? and b) are you a private or business seller?
All you lot do is jump in, tell them there is nowhere else to sell and that eBay have everybody by the balls, and deter them from selling stuff and keeping ebay viable.
