Grant Advisory Service telesales

I have got a couple of calls few days ago from the same man claiming himself to be an Energy Grant Advisor, representing the Government, British Gas, EOn, EDF energy etc.
He told me that I am qualified for hundreds of pounds of Government grant for cavity wall and loft insulation. Then he asked me to give him some details of the insulation of my home.
Then I ask him for his name and where exactly is his company. He said that he was Maheed (may be John Doe today) and gave me a website: https://www.energygrantsadvisor.com.
For the first call I told him that I have already got cavity wall and loft insulation. He hang up.:o
Surprisingly he called again the next day with the same thing. So I firmly said no and told him that I have already registered with TPS. He hang up (again).
When I browse the website that he gave me. There is only a web form for contacting them. No business address. No contact telephone number. It looks really dodgy....................
Beware!0 -
As has been said repeatedly, TPS and all the other legal support mechanisms are no great help, though they may cut the problem down a bit, so I suggest a possible fight back technique that may give some satisfaction/amusement if little more.
1. Engage the caller in conversation. "One moment please, I'll try to get him/her" "Your call is important to us ... etc" (all the nonesense you get when you try to call someone...) Get them to give you info on them, though it is usually rubbish. This wastes as much of their time as possible, while you are doing this you are saving someone elses time.
2. If you get repeated calls from the same outfit, get hold of the non-emergency number of your local police station or your MP, tell the caller I'm sorry, he's out at the moment try calling him here ....
It might eventually get through to the 'Upper Levels' that a problem exists !0 -
I just tell them to p**s off.0

I just had a call from them too. Very annoying as i have had several missed calls during this week and previously also.
I refused to give my details and asked where they were calling from and where they got my number from.
Who: Energy Grant Advisory Service
Where: UK Phonebook.com
Address: Unit 1 94 Abbey Street, Telford, Shropshire, TF3 8DH
Manager: John Matthews
Number: 01903 237003
Do with this information what you will. Enjoy. They said they will remove me from their list.0 -
Rang me today too. Claim to be Energy Grant Advisor, telephone number 01903 237003. Reckon they work for "all the energy providers" yet he didn't know who I was with.
I asked several times where they got my info from and all I got out of him was "UK Homeowners Database" Does anyone know if this exists? I am ex directory and have been registered with TPS for years yet he knew my title, initial, address and land line number.0 -
Grant Advisory Services still making unwanted calls, argumentative ,gave wrong telephone no. and presumably false name.Rang Generating Leads Solutions who politely said they no longer had anything to do with G.A.S..Can this be stopped?Already with T.P.S..0

Just had third phone call in a week from them.
1st hung up when, after telling me they were UK based, I explained it was therefore illegal for them to call me, being on TPS.
2nd got to listen to some of the Man City v Porto match last night whilst I tried to find the house owner
3rd just got me out of the shower as I thought it was an important call I was waiting for and decided to argue with me that they hadn't already called me twice or that they weren't some kind of scam. "Really" I said, "Have you typed your company name into Google recently?"
Incidentally energygrantsadvisor.com is registered through a domain privacy service i.e. the owners details are withheld. For a legit business, this would be very unusual as normally they obviously want you to contact them. It was registered through a UK company so chances are, whoever it is is UK based. I'm going to complain to the privacy protection service as sometimes they will either reveal the owner or even block access to the domain.
1471 only gives 6 digits which today was 001139 and last night it was 001006. I've been told before that these are usually short codes when a call originates from a voip type system (uses the internet to route the call to save money). This means they could be ringing from anywhere, but given all three calls have been from Indian sounding accented men using names like Steve, Dave and Peter, my guess they are somewhere in the East (and I don't mean Yorkshire).0 -
Just had another call. Managed to engage the Indian woman in conversation and find out they are supposedly based in Blackburn. When I asked if she would give me their address and phone number she put on another guy who was quite argumentative after I explained my reason for wanting to know was so I could lodge a complaint with TPS.
I did complain to 123reg.co.uk who registered the domain energygrantsadvisor.com but whilst they have "noted my comments", they would not release the information on the owner unless instructed to by the Police or a court.
Does this sound a like a reputable company to you?0 -
I too have been plagued by these idiots this week. Two nights ago I asked them to remove me from their marketing list after they cold-called me, then last night they called again, but hung up when I asked to speak to a manager. They called again today, having confirmed they were from "energy grant advisor.com". I told them again to take my name from their list and asked to speak to a manager. He refused point blank so I told him that it is an Ofcom regulation that they have to make a manager available, he told me that I was talking cr*p! His language got steadily worse after I told him that I have been in the telecoms industry for over 20 years and knew my rights and would report them to Ofcom. I took particular offence when he used my christian name and so I called him a cheeky little "bar-Steward" (those exact words!) he told me the call was being recorded and I could be jailed for up to 6 years for being offensive! Bring it on is all I say...unbelievable!0

Reckon we're the same as everyone else. Numerous phone calls even though with TPS and telling them we're not interested. On the one occasion I did answer questions he got quite shirty when i was unable to answer particular questions.
Anyway, today, once again, they rang, i said we weren't interested and i was fed up with them pestering me. They rang back, husband answered and all he heard was "f... o.. d...h.... repeated many times.
It cheered me up when i found this forum and learnt we weren't the only ones!0
