thanks for your replies but any suggestions where to get the sadlle soap from
    thanks

I buy mine from an old fashioned key cutting/shoe repair shop for about 2 quid.
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

:j :j Hi , i have a cream leather sofa, and to clean mine , i wash it with soap flakes as recommended to me by a sales assistant at DFS.
Be sure to give it a good wipe down after using the soap flakes, as it can be a bit sticky.
Works a treat though and brings the suite up like new again!!

Thanks for this thread, sanya1995, I was wondering the other day about sofa cleaning. Our suite is leather, & I have the stuff that DFS sold us, but I notice that although it cleans really well, it does not seem to preserve the leather, and I was a bit worried about using it too much as the leather could become damaged. So the suggestion of saddle soap is great - just what I have been looking for. We live in a small town, & there is an old-fashioned ironmongers shop, which also has a saddlers on the premises, so I guess that will be the place to look.
    Thanks for that!

Baby wipes work really well, and will not damage the leather. They smell nice too!

someone on here said that over time using baby wipes will damage the leather  apparently DFS and the like dont recommend using them anymore.

i always used to use them though and agree they work really well and quick too !

i use a solution of stardrops and water & a microfibre cloth now though and it comes up lovely :)

if you had an equestrian shop near you, you'll be able to get saddle soap there. It's quite cheap, about £2 for a large bar which will last forever :D

    Hi
I wonder if anyonbe could advise me the best way to clean my leather sofa. I have been getting lots of plastering done in my house and had covered the sofa with a dust sheet. However when I took the dust sheet off today the sofa is still filthy. When I wash it it looks fine......until it dries when it is still covered in plasterdust. I have looked in the mega indexed thread at the top but most of the suggestions just seem to reference each other or suggest baby wipes or some brand of cleaner. Is there nothing I can make myself?
    Thanks

Try baby oil with water in a squirt bottle using a thick tea towel or towel to clean.

    Hi lynseyf,

We have a recent thread on cleaning leather sofas, so I have merged your thread with it because it helps other Old Style readers to find all the suggestions together. As always posts are listed in date order, so you'll need to read from the beginning to see all the replies.

After my housefire we kept our sofa as it was only 8 months old, it was smoke damaged and we got quotes of hundreds of ££££'s to clean it. But on the off chance Asda had those Flash Eraser blocks reduced at the time so i bought a few and these took the sofa up a treat. I now have a cupboard full of them cause i didnt use them all! lol
