I am sure that baby wipes are great to use for leather sofas.
I don't think that there is anything to hurt the leather.

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=163208 apparently it can damage the leather over time

  • I swear by saddle soap - and believe me I had tried everything on my sofas. HTH
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Baby wipes work really well, and will not damage the leather. They smell nice too!

I totally agree, saddle soap is great because it cleans and feeds in one go. There was a question a few days ago on this theme. I had to say that when I last cleaned mine I ran out of commercial leather cleaner ,and didn't have saddle soap, so used a weak solution of stardops (just a few drops) in warm water and that worked really well. Certainly lifted the dirt and some red wine stains (a few drip marks. no I hadn't had too much!!):D I think I would have had to scrub harder with saddle soap, but who knows

Forgot to say, I love the Lord Sheraton range for restoring shine and it smells gorgeous!

My OH used to work near to a leatherworks and they would sell it to the public. He no longer works there, and I've not found another supplier. I imagine an old-fashioned ironmonger might do it? I'll probably end up getting it on-line. Just googled saddle soap and there are lots of suppliers. Just make sure you get the one designed for leather not personal use!:;) That's way too expensive!

  • I give my suite a periodical cleaning with saddle soap and a nail brush, then wipe it down with an old towel, keeps it clean and soft and even the creases decrease a little, I get it from a local horsey shop and it is £1.50 a bar/tub.
