I sometimes use baby wipes.More recently since discovering microfibre cloths I just use a damp microfibre cloth and some elbow grease. I then buff it up with a dry microfibre cloth.
You can buy expensive cleaners yes, But I bought a cleaner in my local pound shop and it brought it up with a great shine. There's another thread on here somewhere about cleaning leather sofa's (i remember cos I think I either started it, or posted on it). I'll have a look...

Have a look HERE and HERE. There are others - just search Leather suite and it should bring them up.
  • I am with Honey28 with the microfibre cleaning clothes. I discovered them throught this site and use them all the time now. I have even bought some for my sister and mum. Great for cleaning leather sofas amongst a hundred different things.
unneccesary spend challege £10 this week £4 petrol for day out
  • Saddle Soap - Does a great job and costs about £1.50 a bar and softens the leather too!

Thank you everyone for your tips. I too use baby wipes at the moment and sometimes just a dust (dark brown leather sofas) and they work ok for day to day but I want to give it a good nourish with something. Thanks Honey28 for the links I will look into some of the ideas on there.

I was told never to use baby wipes on my settee.

For regular cleaning I use Lux Soap Flakes - am amazed by the colour of the water sometimes.

Me too, they are really good and the leather feels soft and clean afterwards, they were recommended to me by DFS when I bought my sofa. My sofa is a choccy brown too so it never looks dirty but the colour of the water afterwards suggests it gets very grubby!

Excuse me for hopping onto this thread, but on the subject of leather sofas, does anyone know if you can pick up anything to restore faded colour.

I know to expect a certain amount of fading over time with day to day use, but we're about to inherit a dark green chesterfield thats been little used, but when it has been sat on, its been on one cushion only, so the fading and wear is uneven.

    Any suggestions appreciated.
